I'm still in absolute disbelief that they literally never showed up!! No call, no text, no email. I received a written confirmation weeks ago. I called and confirmed last week just in case beforehand and Holly, I believe, confirmed they'd be there at 10am. I waited an hour. Then waited and cried another hour. Nothing. I called both phone numbers over & over-no answer (odd that last time it went right to her cell phone). Just cruel, really. This was personally a devastating day. I'm a single girl doing this on my own, moving into my first house. I have no one here to help me.Many people plan weeks, if not months, for a move. I'm still in shock that a "business" would operate this way. Almost laughable through my tears- they called some other company to call me at 2:30pm!! to see if they could move me another day. They called that guy but not me?! It's 24 hrs later and still no call from Holly, her husband, or anyone from the company to apologize or explain. Cowards. Shame on these people. Please take heed before you entrust such an important day, let alone your property, with these people. I wanted to support a local, family owned operation but beyond these people being wildly unprofessional, they are just cruel and absolute cowards. And now you respond with a 100% absolute lie on Yelp two weeks later that you left me a voicemail?! Something is significantly wrong in your head.. ..like literally sociopathic. Brian and his crew came to my house to move us. They showed up and there were 2 of them. A guy and a girl. He told me that if he wanted me to stay, that it would cost me 55$ more an hour then he quote me. I'm not sure what he planned they lady he brought moved like a snail and did very little. I didit care about the money. I paid it just because I hate moving. Also, he gave my wife an attitude for asking to cover and protect our white couches. Very unprofessional. My wife wasn't wrong not in the slightest but, but I still bought him AND HIS CREW lunch to smooth things over and he was still an unpleasant gig. Lastly, he torn up my new house bringing every thing. He even broke one of my new closets, offered to fix it, and never came back to do it. While planning our move from Brownstown to Livonia my wife and I read reviews of a number of different movers but we weren't comfortable with any of them because of some of the reviews we had read. It seemed like each of the moving companies we researched were either really good or really bad. Unfortunately, there wasn't any consistency with any of them. However, I decided to perform one more search and was fortunate enough to come across A-ffordable Moving. In reading their reviews on multiple sites it became clear that A-ffordable Moving was one of the few movers we would request a quote from. I sent a request for a quote via Yelp and received a call from Brian within a matter of minutes. After speaking with him, and the few other moving companies that had called me to provide a quote, it became obvious that A-ffordable Moving was our mover of choice. Brian's rates were very reasonable, he has a capable crew and his truck is relatively new. My wife and I contacted Brian & Holly a couple of times after we first spoke because we had to either add items to the list of things to be moved or remove items from the list of things to be moved, and each time they were polite and accommodating. Even though our new house, which is smaller than our old house, posed some challenges with getting items into the house, Brian and his team handled our items with care and were professional through the entire process. DO NOT HIRE THIS COMPANY We hired these movers about a month prior to our moving date. They told us they would arrive between 9am & 9:30am on our move date. Moving day comes around and after hardly any sleep (we stayed up super late making sure everything was ready) we get a call from Holly at 9:34am. She tells us that their truck got totalled the night before and that they were going to get another truck in about an hour which we were totally fine with because things so happen. An hour wasn't going to make or break moving day. So we wait.... And wait..... And wait some more. After 4 hours sitting on the front porch watching for a truck we still hadn't heard a word from these people. We had 2 different phone numbers for them so we reached out & left a message on both. We were just wanting an estimated time the truck would arrive since we were told they would be an hour or so late early that morning. We waited another hour or so. STILL NOTHING. We called both numbers, texted both numbers, emailed AND messaged their Facebook page. We STILL got no reply. So we started calling every moving company we could find online to see if by any fluke they could help us. I have a 5 year old and a dog, everything in our home was packed up and ready to go. I took a week off of work for this move counting on this company. Every company we called was booked through at least the end of the week. So we tried contacting A-ffordable some more.... Yet again NO ANSWER OR REPLY. Thank goodness we got a call back from one of the moving companies we had called earlier- they had finished a job early and were able to help us that day. Big B's Moving out of Port Huron literally saved the day. We rushed to a local U-Haul rental place and picked up a truck. Big B's arrived around 5:30pm- loaded the truck through a tornado siren- and unloaded until 1am. THEY WERE AMAZING! I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THEM TO ANYONE IN SAINT CLAIR COUNTY. While we were waiting for A-ffordable I did a Google search and found that we aren't the only ones they have just totally flaked on. It seems this is common practice for this company, but they have all kinds of different excuses as to why- always after the fact. When we FINALLY got a reply from A-ffordable it was an email (of course) and they claimed that they couldn't communicate with us (Until after 5pm that night) because they had been arguing with their insurance company. They claimed that their insurance company wouldn't let them rent a truck because it's not considered a commercial vehicle. I call BS. If that was the case, all they had to do is LET US KNOW. Then we wouldn't have sat for literally HOURS waiting for them when we could have been finding different movers. They left us hanging, expecting them to show, with ZERO COMMUNICATION. I am appalled at this companies customer service practices and it seems we aren't the only ones they have done this to. TLDR: DONT HIRE IF YOU WANT THEM TO ACTUALLY SHOW UP FOR YOUR MOVE. read more

The said their truck broke down the day they were coming out and didn't know why because it's only two years old ‍ so I calmly said no problem I understand things happen what time tomorrow will you be out? Thinking I would take first in line to move since you could not do what you said you would the day you said you would. NOPE! "He says I have a job Monday that I have to do"...... so basically screw off I have a job that is paying more such a way to handle yourself, yet again not a problem so what time are you thinking you'll come out? He says after the lady chewing on her food for the 2nd time in a row answers and says HERE! "Early afternoon Monday I will come" me: "awesome thanks" So waited 5-6 hrs Sunday already for a no show and guessssss what! 2 households waited the same 5-6 hrs so I'm actually pissed at this point because my wife canceled her doctors appointment for her check up because she's pregnant. I start to call them from different numbers because now at this point I know they aren't showing up and they stopped answering but I wanted to hear it from their mouths.... guesssss what!! I DID! and they knew how I felt about it REAL QUICK and its business like this that make the real hard working ones have to work twice as hard in order to gain the trust of the public..... Now just as a heads up like they did on my google review they are going to try and say we tried making an INSURANCE claim before picking up the items?!?! What are you on!!!! What are you talking about!!! We asked a simple question ( ARE YOU INSURED?!) and anyone should ask that when trusting a moving company with thousands of dollars in furniture and that question is asked because we want to know that if you drop, scratch, sell or crack anything in your position what happens?! But obviously you probably don't have insurance because the odds of you ever actually make it out to a job is 90% unlikely. read more

I cannot say enough nice things about A-ffordable Moving & Hauling. I had a last minute move I needed help with, and they responded quickly and were extremely accommodating to my rushed timeline. I absolutely hate moving, but Brian and his team did everything they could to make the task painless. The owner Brian quoted me a price at the beginning of the move and even as we hit snags and delays along the way (due to broken elevators) Brian honored his initial quote. I plan to recommend A-ffordable Moving to everyone I know, and they will be the first company I call next time I need help moving. read more

If I could give these guys 10 out of 5 stars I would. They were so friendly, worked fast, wrapped up my furniture and were very careful to make sure that nothing was damaged or got dirty, and went above and beyond to help me get everything into my new place. The quote I received form them was the least expensive from anywhere else that I had called and they stuck to the original quote price even though the job ended up taking longer than expected-- which was only because my box spring wouldn't fit up the stairs of my new place so they had to McGyver a way to get it through an upstairs balcony. I rarely waste time in my day just to write a review that someone may or may not read, but based on my experience with these guys, I feel the need to. So...around the 19th of August, I contacted Affordable Moving and spoke to a girl named Holly. I inquired about moving one item, just a refrigerator, from my house to my mother's house. She informed me that they do not do seperate item delivery jobs like that but they could incorporate that kind of job along with a larger move they might be doing on any given day. Very understandable. So I called her back on Thursday, August 22nd asking if they had any large moves for the weekend and she said no. However, she said she would schedule a pickup and delivery for the following Monday, August 26th at 11:00am. Sounds good! Unfortunately, on that following Monday, 11:30, 11:45, 12:00 comes around and nobody at my place. So I call Holly. No answer, so I leave a voicemail asking where everyone is at? No return call or text since that day. Soooo... I looked online a while and find out that a guy named Brian not only runs this company (with his wife Holly apparently), but he runs another moving company called Motor City Movers. I decide to call Brian and he confirms both companies are his and I explain what was going on....how no one showed up, no one called, etc. He told me he'd try to figure something out, even if it was later in the day, and would get back to me. Two hours go by without hearing from him so I call him to get an update of what's going on. I leave a voicemail with him and like the one I left Holly, no response....ever. Pathetic. It's sad that there's still people out there who just don't care, specifically people who run a business like this. Time is valuable to everyone, to myself and especially my mother who is pushing 80 and still works and ended up taking the day off of work just to get ignored. If you can't do the job or just don't want to, fine, just let us know. As for these 2 companies...just don't bother with them. I'm sure they've taken care of some customers, but based on some of these other reviews on here, they've had their fair share of failures in the moving business. I'll give my money to someone else instead. I ended up going with "You Pay Less Moving Co." and they communicated great with me and got the job done quickly, so they deserve my props. Also , I'm sure either Holly or Brian will respond on here with some B.S. excuse or explanation blaming me for the miscommunication, just to make it sound like it was my fault. But hey, at least I'll finally be getting a response! Believe me, I've got much better things to do than bad-mouth a company on here just for the heck of it. I'll start by saying the response time/price was very good. Brian met me at my house to look over everything and give me a quote. He also met me at the new house because it was much smaller and he wanted to know ahead of time what he was in for. The day of the move the weather was pretty bad but Brian and his crew worked through it and even made an extra trip to bring furniture to my daughters house. Due to the weather it was a long day/night but the crew kept a sense of humor even though they were exhausted. These guys worked very hard and we totally recommend this moving company! read more

Hired company last minute to move me when Designed to Move left me in the lurch 1/2 hr before they were suppose to be at my house. Was very happy when this company said they could do it the same day at 5-6 pm. Got a call at 5 stating driver was pulled over and truck was impounded due to cracked windshield. Owner promised he'd be out the next day at noon. Never showed up or called. My husband called at 1220 and owner stated he can't do it because he doesn't have a crew. FUCK YOU AND YOUR CREW. First and foremost, DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY! They will most likely just reply to this saying that I am a disgruntled ex-employee because that seems to be a trend for them, I am not. I have proof that I was a customer and not a former employee (a text conversation that is clearly very light on the communication on their end). I had a move scheduled for 7/24 and we got a text an hour before saying he wasn't coming because he wasn't feeling well. We were told he would be able to do it the next day at 9:00 am. Well 10:00 rolls around and no word at all from them. I had to reach out to them just to find out they are not coming at all and have no plan B. There was zero communication from them. I have yet to hear back from them about anything. They will not show up and they will not communicate with you. Leading up to the move we tried contacting them several times to confirm the time and they were impossible to get a hold of. I used this company a few years earlier and they no showed on me then as well with zero communication. TERRIBLE. I was able to find multiple companies around the same price with outstanding customer service (something these people have not grasp of) and will forever be using them instead of A-ffordable Moving & Hauling. read more

If you want your entire move to be delayed by a couple hours, if you want them to show up eventually with a truck too small to fit all your stuff, if you want your own personal dolly you kindly let them borrow only to sustain wheel damage, if you want dresser drawers to be busted so they won't fit back together properly, if you want trim on your floor busted & steps scratched because the movers kept banging your overloaded dolly on them, if you want to be told they'll complete the move the next day but then wait 4 freakin hours for them to never show up, and if you want them to simply refuse to answer your calls & make excuses when you have your brother call from a number they don't recognize, if you want to be promised a credit you won't receive? This is your company! If you'd prefer careful & dependable movers with their own moving trucks & the ability to complete a job satifactorily? HIRE SOMEONE ELSE!!! read more

Brian and his crew moved all of my stuff from a large storage unit and also from a family members house to my new home. They completed the whole job in about three hours. They also came in under budget which was fantastic. They were all very professional and made sure to take great care of all of my stuff and they made sure not to hit any walls in my new house. These guys saved us big bucks. They moved us from Michigan to Alabama back in April. Other moving companies wanted to charge $6000, but A-ffordable charged less than half of that. They delivered everything on time and in great shape, no damage to anything. They called and confirmed ahead of time and were very quick but thorough, being sure to wrap and protect everything appropriately. You could really tell that these guys were experienced with moving. They also made the extra effort to store our things for two weeks until we had our apartment available. We were very happy with our experience and it made a stressful situation that is a big move a little less overwhelming! read more

One star is too many!! My 84 year old parents hired them to unload their POD yesterday. They were told that they would be there at 9am. They later received a call saying that part of their crew was sick and that the owner and another guy would come a couple hours later. We were totally OK with that...things happen. Then that time came and went and more time passed, and they said they would be there in about 45 minutes. After about another hour and a half, they said that it was raining and they were pulled over on the side of the road, and would be there when the rain slowed down. Never heard from them again! At 4:30, after many unanswered calls and texts to them, we had to round up people to unload it for them because the POD was being picked up the next morning!! They should be ashamed that all that heavy furniture and boxes had to be unloaded by two 84 year olds, and a couple of 60 year olds with bad backs. They should have at least been honest from the beginning, as they had no real intention of showing up. read more

My fault for not looking at the reviews first but this is the worst company to deal with. They came out with only two guys, after I explained in great detail that the weight of my furniture would need 4 guys to move. They were late as well. They attempted to move my desk and dropped it, destroying one side of it. Now, they scheduled to return a different day with more help and cancelled on me an hour prior to the appointment. I called them to confirm and I was told a customer before me kept adding items to be moved, so they were behind which resulted in my appointment being cancelled. I was scheduled again for today at noon and go figure they didn't show and won't answer the phone. I was promised that my desk would be repaired, which I'm sure will not happen now. For crying out loud, I can't get the stuff moved, much less repaired. Holly and Brian are the owners names. Holly knows zero about her company, yet it's her cell phone that the business # is. Brian is nothing but a liar. Zero customer service. Just a heads up, I was also told they own Motor City Movers as well. Unless you want a bunch of run-around and your items destroyed.
