As first time pool owners two years ago, we didn't know any better, but this company was not very communicative and transparent on charges and when they will charge for extra pool needs, etc. difficult to get a hold of for emergencies. WARNING: SAFETY CONCERNS Lance and from "A Clear Choice Pool and Spa Service" out of Menifee as our start up person after our pool was finished in 2021. Within a few months (roughly 3 to 4) we started to have problems with our heater at which time we called Lance back out and had him troubleshoot, order a replacement part, and according to him "fix" the problem. However as you can see from the photo the problem was never fixed and actually Lance told my wife that everything was good to go. When we questioned him on the "FIRE" exploding from the top of our heater and he said, "As long as it's lights it should be OK" and left it at that. After doing some research and contacting Hayward myself, Hayward realized this was a huge safety issue sent out a new heater "Free of charge". Hayward was genuinely concerned most likely because of the potential safety hazard and resulting litigation that could occur from this dangerous situation. Lance the owner of "A Clear Choice Pool and Spa" did nothing, wouldn't respond to our calls/texts/etc. and basically left us in a dangerous situation. Not only did he leave us high and dry but never apologized for the dangerous situation. First off, I am a new pool owner with no prior experience, so I rely heavily on the professionals (and YouTube) to educate me on this expensive investment. We recently had our pool completed and filled, and when start up began the technician that came out had some problems with our new Hayward automation equipment. He was unable to get the OmniLogic box to communicate with the pump and recommended that we call Hayward for assistance. Enter Lance with A CLEAR CHOICE POOL AND SPA SERVICE. First, I spoke with Brittany who was very helpful, she educated me over the phone about certain aspects of the pool and equipment and let me know that Lance would be there within the next two hours. Right on time, Lance with A CLEAR CHOICE POOL AND SPA SERVICE showed up, introduced himself, and got to work. He was able to identify some issues in the system and fix them pretty quickly, all the while explaining to me how the system worked (water flow, mechanical versus manual valves, automation, etc..). There were some additional issues with the equipment which he was also able to rectify, and within two hours the system was up and running. Lance then explained to me how the system worked, using analogies that made sense and gave me a better understanding of the entire process. During this time Lance also showed me how to set/program my pool and spa lights and explained the difference between lighting modes, and he further explained how the internal process worked which again gave me a better understanding of the equipment. By now it was dark, and we were able to test out the spa and pool lights and they worked great, definitely worth the cost. Lance made some recommendations which I will follow up on and gave me his contact information in case I have any additional questions. Bottom line, Lance and A CLEAR CHOICE POOL AND SPA SERVICE are consummate professionals in every aspect; pool and process knowledge, customer service (i.e., old school customer service when someone actually listens to the customer and answers their questions without sounding condescending), and respect. I could not recommend Lance and A CLEAR CHOICE POOL AND SPA SERVICE more highly and I cannot imagine a better interaction. I just want to let you all know the GREAT service I received getting my pool fixed, after two other people tryed and couldn't get it going...I had a pentair pump put it after one was taken out then another pump put it that didnt last longer then three days..so then I was referred to Clear Choice and the owner Mr.Lance replaced the pump and my husband thought the salt cell should be replaced but Mr Lance said wait about a week to make sure it isnt working then IF it isnt working it will be replaced why spend the money now....then a valve went out yes.... I have older equipment ...and Robert the son in law came at 7pm after closing to fix that....the daughter Brittany that I found out later who helped me on the phone each time I freaked out ..thank you all for the wonderful pool service you will be my first phone call if needed again!!!! read more

I would highly recommend not using this company. We have been patient with them as small business owners and trying to give the benefit of the doubt as they came recommended. Here is our experience for you to leverage as appropriate (pictures also included for context): In 2019 when we finished building our large spa, our contractor referred us to A Clear Choice Pool & Spa Inc as a reputable company. We were pleased with their services up until June of this year. On June 17th we sent an email to the company with pictures sharing that even though a technician had come out to service our spa, it was filthy. We asked for a credit or return to clean. He returned to clean. 8 weeks later on 8/20, the same occurred. I sent a note and they responded that something might be wrong with my filter. I shared that they had just charged us $100 to clean our filter and if that was the case the. They needed to refund us for that also. I finally received a phone call and the company shared their new technicians were not familiar with the techniques to clean our large spa and that they were ordering a vacuum to resolve the issues. Our spa was not cleaned properly again on 9/16. They shared they didn't have a hose for the vacuum and thanked me for confirming that was the proper way to clean. To which I replied, I expected a refund since my spa hadn't been cleaned in two weeks. On 10/6, I notified the company that the spool was not properly cleaned and had Algae. I heard nothing back from them and did not receive a refund or a cleaning. On 10/22, again the pool was not cleaned properly and had more algae. Again, I reached out to the company. At this point, I called another company to come and service our spa. However, A Clear Choice Pool & Spa had already charged my credit card for services for the month of November. When I asked for a credit for lack of service and algae, they responded they would look at it today 11/4. When I told them my expectation was for a credit, they sent an email stating they were discontinuing service and their service today would make up for 10/22. I sent them pictures of our spa from today showing the spa has not been serviced. This is definitely not the way to do business! read more

I was seriously impressed with the team at A Clear Choice. We needed some warranty work done on our pool's LEDs. Brittney kept me in the loop with scheduling throughout the whole process. And then the unexpected hit. The evening before our LED swap, our control unit on the wall blanked out/died. I reached out to our builder and our warranty rep - but it was after hours. I text Brittney to possibly reschedule since there was a new - more pressing issue. Like a champ, she called me at 7:30 pm and asked for details. She located the part that night and put it in the installer's truck so it would be taken care of. I can't remember such great service with any other contractors/installers. But THEN Luke came the next day. He was super low-key and quick. Got the panel fixed and the lights swapped, in the freezing rain! Talked to me about the system (which he told me was from a reputable manufacturer), said his goodbyes, and locked the gate on his way out. Honestly, it's a legit dream team over there. I told Luke how impressed I'd been and he said they try their best because as warranty people, they are often the ones who the customer sees last and they want to leave us all with a good impression. That is great for me, but also great for the builders and manufacturers because the entire months-long pool project gets tied up with a satisfying bow - thanks to A Clear Choice. read more

A while back I called this company to come out and check my pool heater. over the phone they never advised of a $95 dollar fee for just coming out to my house. The person that looked at my heater did not fix the problem or even gave any good suggestions. All they were good for was to bill for 95 dollars. After that I told the service person that i wanted nothing further from them and to please leave. read more

I had several problems with this pool service They kept telling me things that needed to be fixed on my pool which is only 3 years old and I check them and when I complained about them saying they need to fix things that weren't broken like my rumba 2 times when there was nothing wrong with it. They would take my pool equipment without notifying me and try to charge me money to fix things that weren't broken Not only that when I complained they canceled my contract their technician also turned off my sprinkler system to my yard the last time he was here resulting in my grass almost dying. Lance was a "Start up guy" for our pool and he needs to retire! He has no patience or customer service skills. He refused to show or explain how to use any of the pool equipment with a response of "You need to read the manual." If he showed up in a bad mood, he would say "why haven't you brushed the pool. Throughout the 30 days the only cordial response I got was, have a good weekend. I would have rated this company as 10 stars but the review only provides for 5. From the time we first put water into the pool until now, this company has been fabulous. When Lance the owner set up my weekly appointment, he slated my pool cleaning service for Thursday. I was a little disappointed since I felt that the pool wouldn't be ready for the weekend. Lance assured me that the pool would always ready regardless of what day they came. From the time I put in my pool last year, my pool has been sparkling clean. There hasn't been a day that I felt I had clean the pool. The only time I had to spend at the pool was to watch my twins swimming and having the time of their life's. This is great since I have little time when I am home to worry about cleaning the pool. Brittany and Brian are top notch. Extremely professional and very personable. As a retired Marine Officer being very detail oriented, this company has exceeded all my expectations. This is a one stop service company. Not only does the company provide excellent pool clean service, it is also an authorized warranty company for Pentar which takes away all the worries about maintaining the pool equipment. Lance was referred to us by our pool builder, so we figured we should give it a try. One. Problem. After. Another. Most annoying: he spent 10-15 min at our pool! Our current pool guy (who's amazing, by the way), spends at least 45 minutes every single time. Lance's prices are $$$, even if he spent three times longer at our pool. The valves left open. The algae growth - which he attributed to hot summer - but our current pool guy has no difficulties keeping the pool crystal clear all the time. We had to always remind Lance that it's time to clean our salt cell - and he would charge us an arms and a leg for it. Major annoyance to have to check everything after the pool guy was there. Overpriced, commented that we use our pool to much, always had to double check their work and wait days for a text or email response when something was wrong. They would be here 10-15 minutes and blame us for high levels they should be taking care of...to include algae that was also blamed on us; Lance (the owner) is very argumentative and not at all businesslike. Lance acts as though it's a privilege for you to have his company (his daughters) cleaning your pool. Overall I would learn how to maintain your own pool before calling this company. Worst pool service I have ever had, ended up having to drain the pool, because his terrible service let it get so bad. On top of that, after terminating his service in writing, he continued to bill for it! When confronted about the continued cc billing, he had no explanation, but then never reversed the charge either. That is theft in my book! We got our pool installed approximately one month ago. Lance was selected by the pool company to be our "Start Up Guy." It was explained that the standard agreement was weekly testing and balancing the water chemistry,, brushing the sides of the pool, emptying skimmer baskets, cleaning the filter as needed and checking to make sure that all the equipment -- such as the timer and pump -- are working efficiently for the first 30 days. Lance came sporadically throughout the 30 days. Maskless, he was very rude, curt and short when he showed up and/or when asked questions. This is the second pool I've had built. Week to week I would check my levels which in turn were always unbalanced, skimmer basket was filthy after Lance left and pool equipment was never touched to brush side walls (which I kept up throughout the 30 day process). Lastly, during the final orientation with Lance, he briefly went over the equipment and explanation of pool system. When asked about monthly pricing, he told me that he is not taking anymore customers in the Heritage Lake area. Interestingly, when I called the office the following morning to see if they could service my address the young lady told me "we sure can." I'd hate for anyone else to go through this process, especially if one is unfamiliar with their first swimming pool. Horrible service! read more

I switched our pool service to A Clear Choice almost a year ago. I'm so much happier with their service, attention to all the details and awesome communication. Lance, the owner came out and reviewed everything with me, and explained exactly what they would do. They are here every week and always check the chemistry, filter, skim and remove any debris, and adjust the pump timer if necessary (and probably a lot more that I don't even know about). The owner and his family crew are very experienced and make sure everything is safe. Our pool always looks beautiful and sparkling. Such a delight to enjoy our pool without any hassles. We have a Pentair mastertemp 400 pool heater. When we went to use it we couldn't shut it off. Had to shut the whole pool down in order to get it off. I called Pentair and they recommended this company. And I'm so glad they did! I called them and talk to Lance told him exactly what my pool heater was doing. He made an appointment to come out to our house. And most importantly kept me updated throughout the day as to when he would arrive by text. He ran his diagnostic check figured out what was wrong and because I had told him what kind of heater we had he had the part with him. My heater was warrantied for 3 years. And of course it broke down at 3 years and 3 months! But he went out of his way and called Pentair and Pentair covered the part and only had to pay for the service charge! Great customer service! There's so many pool companies out there you don't know who to trust. And they can only clean a pool they can't work on the equipment. But they tell you that they can and then they fumble around in there. Lance's well-versed in repairing pool equipment. We moved to a house in Temecula - summer of 2013, and Lance at A Clear Choice Pool Service was already the pool guy, so we kept him. It had been over a year and we've had problem after problem. Lance and his team have left valves off when should be on, left our pool green with algae when they were just here, and do not respond to our requests to remedy situations in a timely manner. Recently, they treated our pool for algae and said our pool would remain cloudy for a couple of days, but it'll clear up, and get rid of the algae with the filter running. After two days our pool was WORSE. My wife and I had to guess at our pool equipment (since Lance and team do not ever explain about it after asking many times. He is also quite condescending about it) and found a valve left 3/4 turned not allowing the suction to work. I spent hours cleaning our pool to get it presentable as we were having guests over, but still could not swim as we had promised them. When I called Lance he wouldn't pick up, respond to voicemails or return texts. When I finally DID catch him and he picked up days later, he got angry with me for bothering him on the weekend. I would not recommend A Clear Choice Pool Service. We are now looking for a new pool service. read more

I called A clear Choice because there was a sticker for their services on my pool equipment. I left a message on a Saturday thinking I would get a call on Monday. In 5 minutes Lance called me back to say he could be out on Monday. He showed up on Monday as promised. I have a complicated Pentair system that wouldn't turn on. Lance diagnosed the problem very quickly. He was able to order parts for my issue. In the mean time Lance was able to program my pump to keep the filter working until the part ships. Lance spent lot's of extra time teaching me about the system. When I told him funds were tight he gave me an option of keeping the pump going and ordering the part at a latter time. He was not pushy at all. Clearly Lance is a family guy with great service. I called another local company who never returned my call. I had a bad experience with another pool service so I am a bit skeptical about pool companies in general. So far I couldn't be more impressed with A Clear Choice!!!! read more
