I am without car (by choice) and happy to take the bus and get some walking in when needed, but there are nights, and weekend mornings that just don't work (retail hours, retail feet, and the #21 bus does not work for me all of the time). And, they make me laugh. Normally, in my years of taking cabs (work travel...and oh, so many stories about New York cabs, but worse stories around the Oly and Seattle area), I am the gal in the back of the cab not wanting to engage. They will absolutely respect your quiet time, but are pretty cool if you decide to talk. They are reliable. As close to on-time as possible (usually early), and they communicate if they get tied up with another fare.

First off, Al is incredibly prompt, responsive, and incredibly accommodating. I love that we could book a car that includes an already safely installed car seat for our kiddo. As a parent, knowing I don't have to worry about this logistic is a HUGE weight off my shoulders. Let's talk about the vehicle itself - just wow. It was comfortable, had entertainment for the little one, and incredibly spacious. We were able to comfortably fit ourselves and our luggage without any problems. All in, I would recommend Al and his company to anyone who is looking for a reliable and luxurious experience.

The positives: I had an early morning flight out of Seatac, and was worried there wouldn't be any…read moreavailable Ubers/Lyfts (it looks like a lot of people are active at the time I needed one though, so in the future I may just gamble on that option if it's the weekend). Scheduled my pick-up. Got a call twenty minutes before pick-up to confirm, guy was at my place right on time. Guy was a good driver. The negatives: Guy had to completely reconfirm my address and destination and seemed really pissed about it. He had trouble understanding me and went from zero to 100 on the phone as I slowly confirmed the address. He found my place, called me when he got there, but circled the block and when he saw me out front he parked a block away and waited for me to come to him. He seemed really pissed in general. I was worried until we got to my destination that we were headed somewhere else just because the three times I tried to confirm the location, he only half repeated it (think: being worried driver is taking you to Tacoma Dome instead of Tacoma Dome Bus Station). I had asked to pay at drop-off when I reserved the ride, because I was worried about pre-paying not knowing the reliability of the service. Driver or dispatch (not sure who) interpreted this as "cash" and the driver was NOT happy he had to break out the square chip. I'm the kind of person who prefers a quiet drive option, is fairly flexible, and I totally get why someone might not be at their best so early. But there's a difference between being coolly professional (totally fine), and raising your voice, mumbling under your breath constantly, and acting like your passenger is a dumbass because you refuse to unlock or open the trunk for them to get their luggage out. Three stars because I am a very anxious traveler, and I appreciate having a service that shows up and gets me to my destination in a timely manner. You could probably do this and spit in my face and I would still give you two stars, because it's that important. Getting the call twenty minutes before pick-up to confirm really alleviated a lot of anxiety too, even though the call was oddly aggressive. Reliability is huge in my book, so I'm happy Ace is providing that. For your drivers: calm down, maybe. I'm very low maintenance, and I actually liked that this guy did not try to talk my ear off like some Uber/Lyft drivers. But when he did have to ask me anything, he treated me like a dog who just shit on his lawn. So, not a huge fan of that. I regularly travel internationally for long enough that it would cost too much to park near the airport, and I usually take advantage of early flights to avoid losing a day to travel. TBD on if I'll return to using Ace or if I'll explore other options the next time I need an early morning ride.

An hour late and they don't care. Someone I know was depending on the cab to get to work and will be now fired because Ace Taxi did not show up as promised. I can not ever recommend Ace Taxi of Lakewood, Washington. Ace Taxi is unprofessional, disorganized, and worse, they don't even care that someone will be fired because they were late and did not deliver a ride as promised! I can't believe how blasé they are about their lack of performance. They simply do not care that someone lost their job because the taxi didn't show up on time as promised.

I called AAA to book a lift for 3:45, which doesn't seem that complicated especially since I called…read more5 hours earrlier to reserve this time sensative short haul to my house. I had to drop off my rev at the storage yard and did not have a lift back to my house to relive my babysitter, so I planned this out in advance to make sure there were no issues. I called in 3:50 as no one was there to pick me up on time or no call to say they were late. The dispatch guy answers and let him know that I haven't gotten a call yet or no taxi has shown up. He tells me "It has been a bad day"? He also says that he put me in the queue 25 minutes ago(even though I called 5 hours prior) and no one has picked it up yet". He then says his clostest guys are 45 minutes away????? I think my miustake was letting him know that this was a short haul and it sounded like everyone else was on airport runs so they took the better runs. I don't take cabs often as I own 3 vehicles, but this was a special case in need of help as I was in a tight spot. I ended up having to jog 45 minutes home in the rain to make sure I got there on time. I will never call these guys again and I advise if you decide to go against my advice to not let them know it is a short haul because they will keep you waiting.
