What really stood out was the honesty and attention to detail. No upselling, no surprises, just straightforward service at a fair price. It is hard to find someone reliable and skilled like this, and I will absolutely be using him again for future projects. This review is overdue... Luke has been repairing our appliances for us for several years now. We…read morehave a rental home in FL but live in CA. We used to get our appliances repaired through GE because all of our kitchen appliances are GE and at first, they were all under warranty but as the warranty ran out, being long distance and all, we just kept using GE. First of all, why our GE Monogram appliances that we spent a lot of money on kept needing repairs was the first issue, but the next issue was that sometimes, they sent technicians that were completely incompetent. After dealing with one technician that kept calling someone to give him help over the phone, trying to work on the oven while it was still connected to power (and actually electrocuted himself), ordering wrong parts and having to come back to our house numerous times, we finally decided to look for someone else and my husband found Smart Choice Appliance. From the first visit, Luke was very professional, knowledgeable and fixed the mess the GE technician left behind. Since then, Luke has been our go-to guy. Him and his staff are easy to deal with remotely, their fees are very fair and Luke is very honest. When you first call them, they will ask you questions to see if maybe it's not even a repair issue - something that can easily be resolved. And once Luke comes out and diagnoses the issue, he will honestly tell you your options. Sometimes those options will mean that he doesn't make any money, but he believes may be the best solution for you. As long distance landlords, we are so thankful that we have Luke to call when we have issues.

Neighbors recommended Ultimate, it was in our BBB book as a 5 yr. recommended business. I checked the 5 five star Yelp, google, Angi and Next Door reviews, I called at 10 AM and RJ arrived at 6 PM. RJ was personable, professional and very neat. I was happy he showed up when he said he would and solved the issue. He assessed our appliance and diagnosed a faulty compressor. Repairs were 1/3 of the price of a new refrigerator, we all felt it was a worthwhile repair. On line, I checked Home Depot and a local appliance shop, his pricing was accurate. The refrigerator is now 2x the price we paid 4 yrs. ago. When scheduling the appointment, I received a confirmation email. I was asked to text a picture of the model & serial number from the appliance in advance. RJ came with all the parts & equipment needed to do the repair. He spent 2 1/2 hours replacing , soldering & cleaning out the lines. He accepted credit cards & we received an email receipt. RJ left his card & told us not to fill the frig for 24 hours. RJ followed up with us the following day. He believes the service contract companies aren't worthwhile as they don't hire quality technicians. As wonderful as RJ & Ultimate were, I hope I won't see them for many more years!

Then we waited 1-2 days to hear back. We didn't hear back so we called and spoke with Jerry again he said he did get our email (although he never responded to us to let us know he was working on anything) and he was checking the warehouse for availability. He said he should know by the end of the day Friday. I called Tuesday since I did not hear back from him. He said he needed to come out and check out our set up and check with his guys. I said he could come the next Wednesday and see. Then he did come out Wednesday morning before noon and saw what he needed. I once again waited to hear back from him never did. I called Friday morning and left a voicemail to see when we could set up the install. 2 weeks have gone by at this point. He never called back. We called another company they gave us a quote and we have an install scheduled 2 days later! That's the service we were looking for. What a shame! I gave 2 stars because when I did have interactions with Jerry he was very friendly and did come out the day he said he would. However, they really dropped the ball on a job that was over 3,000 dollars In this economy that's not easy to part with. I sure didn't want to do business with someone who has no time for me.

Unfortunately, this particular part was no longer being manufactured and I could also not locate a replacement anywhere (I looked long and hard as the alternative was replacing an expensive unit). I was fortunate to find Board Busterz through a Google Search and I spoke with Tony about having him troubleshoot and hopefully repair the board. He came through in a big way, identifying/replacing a couple of defective parts and sending me the board back (less than a week from shipping it out to receiving it back in the mail). I then called the local service company to have the board re-installed in the wine fridge and everything was back to normal (no more error codes)! Needless to say, I was extremely happy with the end result but also with the way Tony handled the process (friendly, professional and reasonable).
