Stopped here on my way back into Phoenix from Colorado. I kid you not this was one of the best burgers ive ever had in my life, fast food or not. Wife and I both got bacon cheese burgers, me a double her a single. We both agreed that they were incredible. They were clearly made fresh with a beautiful Maillard crust on all patties. Got stuck in a rain storm on a motorcycle trip and pulled in here because we had no other option - couldn't be more glad we did! The cashier let us park the bike in the garage so it was out of the wind and rain, the people at the A&W were so polite, the food was hot and exactly what we expected. Bad Bad Bad. My wife and I stopped here for lunch today. I ordered a burger meal with a root beer float. My wife ordered chicken strips and a tea. The price was $35.00 and the food was cold. The guy that took our order was not friendly. He said few words and would not make eye contact with us. He made us feel as if we were not welcome. I'm writing this review 12 hours since our lunch. My wife just called into work sick because she has cold sweats and diarrhea. I have terrible abdominal cramps and gas. I would strongly caution others to avoid this place. read more

We were recently exploring Holbrook Az with our kids and enjoying the petrified wood and rock and gem shops. We stopped for a root beer freeze and some fried cheese curds. We walked across the street to the North to a little grassy area/ landmark and enjoyed our treats. It felt very summer, very small town and very 30 years ago and it was delicious! We stopped in with our daughter and granddaughter and we absolutely loved everything from the polite young man that was a one man show the food was hot and delish. From the bacon cheeseburgers and cheese curds all the way to a magnificent Root Beer Float. We will tell everyone about this great little spot. read more

ZERO STARS! Do not got here! I had visited this stop while traveling by Holbrook AZ with family and at first i just wanted to be supportive of a small "business". It was the worse decision i made throughout my whole vacation. First off the owner by the name of Vic was so plain out rude! He treated people of color with disrespect but with my family, he was the worse! Then, my kids wanted treats so we went to the A&W to get a root beer float, the experience was great so far with a teenage cashier, but i believe the owners daughter named Marissa is the manager of the restaurant, she was friendly but why was she in a hurry at 11am? And leaving a kid behind during a busy hour and telling him to do many things by himself with no help? Why did she take money out of the restaurants register and leave then come back later dolled up? What a unprofessional business! I felt bad for the workers, they looked so frustrated. The restrooms were disgusting! And when Vic opened their storage room, i had seen many mouse feces on the floor!! Eww!! So imagine what would be in that kitchen! I left with an unexpected disgusted surprise! The gas here even way more expensive than Maverick! Save your money! read more

Before I lose you with the 3 star review, let me say that the staff and food would be 5 stars. The manager, Marissa, was great and very efficient. The restaurant is in a gas station, and next to a tourist trap with dinosaurs, so there is a lot of other traffic. The parking is limited and not easily accessible. The drive through speaker was broken, which was causing issues with wait times. Wait times are already longer because they don't make it till you order it, and they usually only have a cashier and a cook. Other than that, it's always good food and root beer! read more

Stopped here for gas (theres an attached station) and noticed there was an A&W so I went for a rootbeer float. Go in and very politely order and I'm met with an icey cold stare and robotic, forced, responses. Not even the pretense of returning my polite attitude. Nothing but total contempt. I didnt even bother tasting the rootbeer float, just threw it out. They probably spit in it or worse, who knows? One of the worst customer service experiences i've ever had. I'd like to give this place zero stars if that was possible. They made 1/3 of my order, and then act shocked when I asked for the rest of my order. When I collected my hamburger it was served on a blue moldy bun. To get the employees attention so my burger could be fixed I had to call out a bunch of times to her because she was reading her phone and trying to act like she couldn't hear me. Disgusting place. The people who work here, or at least who were working today, 11/18/17, were just so rude. My husband and I were eating and the employees were just sitting and laughing and making very racist jokes. A bus load of people showed up and the older man said "hey we got a bunch of Asians coming in". A) you're attached to a gas station, does not guarantee they will be eating at your place. B) who cares! People are the reason y'all are still open and have your jobs. C) what does race have to do with anything. They're still people.
