Who doesn't love A&W?? If I am near one, I am stopping! Yesterday was no exception as I pulled into the Baldwin Wisconsin one. I ordered a large diet root beer, mini corn dogs and the new and amazing dill pickle ranch cheese curds. The staff was super quick and friendly in the drive through. I did not go inside this time, but I know it's always clean and inviting. I highly recommend the new dill pickle ranch cheese curds!! They were hot and had a delicious seasoning on them. No need to dip them in anything. Def recommend this place! read more

Stood waiting at the counter labeled takeout to order, girl looked at me, turned away, looked back at me multiple times just staring. I tried to ask her if she was taking orders but she either didn't hear me or ignored me. Wait staff waiting tables looked engaged and attentive. I was trying to do take out so could get back on the road but went to Kwik Trip instead to get lunch. read more

"All Shook Up" (Elvis) A & W Root Beer is as iconic to American culture as rock and roll, baseball, and apple pie, and this is reflected in this location's nostalgic décor like vintage photos and posters of Elvis and Lucille Ball, along with a juke box where you can play old timey music for free. This A & W location offers table service, and it is worth it versus drive-though to experience drinking your float in a frosty mug while listening to retro 50's and 60's songs, like Jailhouse Rock. While I'm not a big fan of the food here other than the cheese curds, the floats are worth the calorie splurge and entertainment value. Once you insert a straw in the ice cream mound sealing the root beer, the soda floods over the glass lava-style as if it were shaken up. It is hilarious watching people frantically trying to lap up their explosive treats like hound dogs at a pace faster than that of the overflow! The genius who crafted these floats was clearly inspired by a volcano-building science contest from their youth. Forget singing the Star-Spangled Banner...the most patriotic thing one can do when driving through Baldwin is to stop here for cheese curds and floats. Probably 10 boys from a hockey team & several families stopped by on Sunday afternoon. The service was great & they let us sit in a separate area. The restaurant was clean & dirty tables quickly cleared. The root beer is awesome! Hubby's chili dog & yummy onion rings hit the spot. I had crispy chicken tenders & tasty cheese curds. First time at an A&W restaurant. The root beer is obviously the star so ordered a root beer float - Yummy!! Ice cream was tasty and root beer was fabulous- not overly sweet so the float was wonderful! The food was also typical fast food - ordered hot dogs. Fries were nicely done and not greasy. When I first got here I thought it was going to a fast food but no it was a sit down restaurant. The food was great I would definitely recommend the cheese curds and the BBQ Bacon Burger. I like A&W in general but this one deserves higher marks because it's far and away better than most fast-food joints. It's clean and big, and instead of standing in a line waiting to order, you sit down where you like and there's actual wait service. A friendly waitress or waiter (usually young folks looking to make a few bucks in tips) will take your order and you'll be treated to an old-school root beer mug made out of glass rather than a paper cup and actual utensils rather than plastic crap. The burgers are really good here and the chili cheese fries are a guilty pleasure. The jukebox plays oldies rock n roll and there is a great Americana vibe going on. It almost makes you think you're in the 50s for a moment. All of the food I've tried has been solid and this place has a great atmosphere light years beyond the typical truck stop or highway-ramp burger junk. read more

How could anybody not like A&W root beer!? It's like an American staple that's been around for centuries! From the time you walk in to the time you leave you are thrown back into the 60s and 70s era. They have a real live working jukebox that you can pick great songs from the past while you wait for your food. The prices have went up but the food has stayed the same. It's just as great as it was back then. Well back then meaning in the 80s to me because I was alive before then! I had ordered the card which was nice and fresh and crispy with a side of cheese curds and a root beer to drink it all down. I would have to say out of most places I would not of expected the fish to be as good as it was here. I felt like I was eating fish that freshly caught that day! The cheese curds were nice and hot and gooey and crispy. The Coney dog was excellent I mean how could you go wrong with a good Coney dog! My favorite thing about the whole restaurant is the real live working jukebox! You could pick any song from back in the day and play it for free while you wait for your food which is just so cool to me! Definitely the BEST A&W I've been to. Every time I'm back home to visit, I stop by for a Papa Burger, Cheese Curds, and a Root Beer. I have yet to have a bad meal here. Stopped here twice in 3 days time. Friday night enjoyed Wisconsin cheese curds through the drive thru and Sunday after our team won the Baldwin baseball tournament. Was expecting order at the counter fast food, but it was a order at your table sit down restaurant. I ordered 3 chicken fingers with fries and selected spicy A and W sauce and Honey Mustard. A&W Team is alway nice here. Has been a favorite stop over the years at the Baldwin exit 19 to get their broasted chicken. However, after a number of years they discontinued serving their broasted chicken which was our favorite. Too bad. Not sure if that was the local owner's decision or an A&W Corporate decision, however our hope is their broasted chicken will be back one day to enjoy with a frosty mug of root beer while passing through. read more

Don't waste your time and money going to this A&W in Baldwin WI they have very terrible management and a very rude owner who doesn't care about their customers feelings at all and treat their customers very badly. Me and my family had a really bad experience with this A&W on April 15th 2022 we were going through their drive thru to get our dinner and the manager was very rude towards my sister and my dad. Today we called to tell the owner of the A&W about it and he was very rude and verbally abusive towards my sister so I would advice people to stay away from this A&W they are very rude towards their customers and have rotten food. read more

Traveling on a long car trip as we were, this place was a shining break. To me there is no root beer like a large frosty mug of A&W. My friend Peggy agreed with me. It was so good that on the return trip we brought my brother there and he like the burgers. He is an expert on burgers. The waitress, Lataya was very friendly and laughed a lot. I paid in $2 bills. I was there on May 20, 2017 by myself to grab a quick bite. I generally love A&W but this time I waited over 10 minutes before a waitress came out to check on me. She seemed confused that I had not been served yet. I gave her the benefit of the doubt until she came by later and dropped off the bill with out checking if I needed anything else. I assumed it was proactive as some places do but that she would return to check. She came back 30 minutes after I had finished looking confused that I was still there. I said I wanted a Polar Swirl. I did and waited 10 minutes with no service while the servers stood around and either talked to each other or took their good time wiping down tables. I was clocked out for lunch and only had 20 minutes left of my 30 minutes break, so I want to cross the road to Hardee's, where I was served immediately. Never fails, when driving from the TC, we always start getting hungry and needing to use the bathroom at this time. This is as real as it gets. The burgers are great, but I wanted to not be in another burger rut and really studied the menu. When I noticed they had sloppy Joes made with rootbeer, I thought how good could it be. An OMG moment in an A and W. You could taste the rootbeer, which goes perfectly with your frosted mug. I love their vanilla soft serve, and I will always get even the tiniest one even if I'm full. Just visited this restaurant. Handed me two floats and one was overflowing as she handed it to me. I asked for napkins and she sat and laughed as the root beer spilled over. I talked to the manager who offered nothing for my troubles and said once the drink leaves the window it's your issue. 'It's common sense that root beer floats overflow. I have a full restaurant so I'm letting you go. My daughter was disappointed that she has 1/2 a root beer and I have a sticky car. Manager offered nothing which explains the service. This place is pretty cool. They do table service unlike most fast food places. My husband and I were in the area getting fireworks and had four kids with us. Our waitress was very patient with us (one of my nieces was acting out and unsure of what she wanted). My burger wasn't as good as I expected (I got the cali burger), it was good just not magical or anything. The kids LOVED the root beer floats. My friend kept saying, "We'll stop when we see an A&W" on the drive back to Minneapolis from Chicago. Good thing we did because this was a nice alternative to the usual McD. Stopped here for some quick Ice Cream on the way back from Minneapolis,MN. Just went through the drive-thru but the service was pretty slow. And when i got my order it was melted and dripping down the side of the cup and they didn't give any napkins. So that was nice. Hubby and I went through the drive through after I was craving a root beer float. I wasn't impressed with what I got. Soft serve is not my favorite so that is probably why I didn't think much of it.
