Had a toilet that was leaking into our basement. Called A&W Plumbing and spoke with Matt. He came right out and inspected the problem and told me what needed to be done. He explained everything clearly and kept me informed at every step. He replaced the wax ring and a hose and replaced the damaged valve. I've been told that my leak in my crawl space is now uncovered with my warranty due to Matt the plumber's report/lie that the leak is old. We called our warranty co. and had them send a plumber and the plumber called us and asked if it was a basement and we told him it was a crawl space and he asked, is it clean? Are there cob webs and we told him it was dirt floor about 4 ft deep and every crawl space has cob webs, really. He said he had allergies and didn't want to get sick. He generally made it known he didn't like crawl spaces. Finally he comes, and he came unprepared, no ladder, no flash light no tools and gets in the crawl space only to freak out once his feet hit the floor. He was cussing and screaming get me out of here, he had a full on panic attach and never even left the opening of the crawl space. I'm handing him my foot stool, ladder, bin ,trying to get him out to which he claimed none of them would work and tossing them aside in the mud . I'm running back and forth to the garage and I have a heart condition. Just when I was about to call the fire dept, another man arrived to give us an estimate on our retaining wall and offered to help him get out of the crawl space , only then he took a couple minutes to look at our leak and I guess the previous owner had to put a flex vent like used for venting a dryer around it to protect it from freezing and he said that he wont remove it. He left part of our floor in the crawl space and tracked mud all through our house and and then cleaned his feet on our freshly sealed driveway.That flex vent can be cut away in under 5 minutes. Matt then lied and told the warranty co. it's an old leak so he still gets paid and doesnt have to go back in the crawl space. The guy that helped him out laughed and told me that plumber is in the wrong business and asked where I found him. Matt was great! Toilet problem in my new home and as a new home owner, I was panicked. Matt was super busy and overbooked but he called and kept me updated on his time of arrival. I was "required" to use this company because of a home warranty that I have on this home. A & W did not come out at the time - OR DAY - they said they would. When I called them again they were a bit absent minded and indicated that they had misplaced our phone number. I had to call the home warranty company again to get another plumber assigned to my file. About an hour later the owner of A & W called me cursing at me!! He said it was my fault that he was going to get a bad review with the warranty company - he also indicated that he had some personal stuff going on in his life and that "money" was taken from his personal account (not sure why he's telling a customer that) - then he hung up on me after YELLING at me. Our 15 Year old water heater started leaking profusely so we used our Home Warranty Service Plan to repair it ($100 deductible). A & W Plumbing was assigned to the job. Matt, the repairman, arrived within the 1st hour of the assigned 4 hour window. He was friendly, knowledgeable and took the time to explain what needed to be repaired. Because of the age of the water heater, we were concerned that it might still fail shortly after the repair. After further inspection, Matt found that the lower 1/5 of the water heater had solidified sediment, so the water heater went from a repair to a replacement. He did a temporary fix that allowed us to have hot water until the replacement water heater was in stock (8 days). Once it came in, Matt replaced it, hauled away the old one and left the area neat and clean, within a couple of hours. My water heater started to leak. I called my home warranty company Total Protect. They assigned A&W PLUMBING, Inc. to get the job done. I have to say I was blown away with Matt's service and his flexibility working around my schedule. I live about 10 minutes from my house and I did not want to lose excess time away from the office, Matt was able to give me a call when he was an hour out and then again when he was 20 minutes from my house. It worked out perfectly, I pulled in moments before he pulled up. At the first meeting where he took my water heater information and evaluated how he was going to facilitate the replacement; he was in an out within 5 minutes. He relayed all the information I needed, told me he would work with my home warranty company and disclosed the additional costs of removal up front so there were no surprises. We scheduled a time for the install and he once again called me an hour out and again when he was 20 minutes away from my house. I am a Home warranty customer that was assigned A&W Plumbing. My appointment was scheduled for a Saturday and I spoke with the owner to answer questions, provide photos, use a screwdriver over the phone to self diagnose the issue-I put in work to answer what for them would be simple questions. Understanding that they are busy I did my best. Saturday came and went and they did not show up as a result of two things: 1)They were overbooked, 2) He asked me to go run the water to see if it was coming out of the top or the bottom and I informed him that I would prefer to have them further diagnose during my scheduled appointment. The owner told me that I am not answering simple questions and to call my warranty to get a different service provider plumber to come out. Matt was assigned to us by American Home Shield to address a failed sump pump after a major rainstorm. From the start he was honest about his schedule and how quickly he'd be able to come out and replace our sump pump. After replacing our sump pump he addressed the issues with the sump pump system at a very reasonable fee (as that was not covered by American Home Shield). His price was more than fair given the amount of time and energy he put into not only replacing the sump pump but also in fixing the drainage system for the sump pump outside of our house. This is the 2nd time my home warranty company has sent A&W out to my house. Matt has been out both times. I am not a plumber by any stretch of the imagination and I have a very strict work schedule. Matt asks questions on the front end to try and diagnose things over the phone. I appreciate this immensely. Both times, based off of the questions he asked, my issues only required 1 visit each time. He showed up and did not waste anytime getting the situation handled. Matt, I am writing this review solely because I do not wish to speak to you or any representative from your company, and i was unsuccessful in finding your email Never, NEVER, have I ever been spoken to as rudely and as unprofessionally as I have today by you yesterday afternoon. Let me explain myself a little, I am Blue collar. And PROUD OF IT. I have been a Toyota automotive mechanic for almost 10 years, and have in the past year moved on to heavy equipment field service, where I commonly deal with customers face to face. I have been bred into customer service and customer satisfaction my entire career, and have countless hours of training and experience to back that fact up. If I spoke to a customer how you did today to my wife and myself, I would have had my manager screaming down my neck. Unacceptable. I operate on CUSTOMERS FIRST, I suggest you learn a little about the subject. I understand how business can be, I truly do. But what comes out of the owner of the company's mouth, directly affects ones view about said company. Take that for what it's worth. I fully understand your issue with the dogs and I believe it was handled poorly on your behalf. Rather then flight and point fingers, a ideal solution would have been putting a smile on your face and kindly asking my wife to retain the dogs(which she was in process of doing...) as you were uncomfortable being around them. NOT by saying they were threatening you! Man up! I'll have you know, toddlers between the ages of 2 and 6 play with these dogs, i can assure you they are no threat to a grown man. If you aren't prepared for barking dogs, screaming babies or children, i suggest you reevaluate your career choice. Pro bowler maybe? Be adaptive. I am. My wife is, as well. I have since contacted the warrantee company explaining the situation, left a review, and also left you a review on Yelp. I also saw another one star review that was oddly similar in context. I hope this isn't a trend with your services, that would be a shame. I suggest you take a long hard look at something called customer retention. Over the life of a customer the potential for a profit are substantially increased if said customer is satisfied and wishes to have repeat service. How do you gain repeat service? Treat customers how you'd wish to be treated. With some damn respect and understanding. As a professional, I always tell customer, "parts are free, your paying for quality service." And I'm glad you didn't get a dime from me. I did have my new water heater installed tonight by a local plumber , i called Him on a referral, and he was at My doorstep when I arrived home, with my new water heater, I'll have you know, and AT HIS COST PRICE! Like most of the other reviewers here, this company was assigned by my home warranty company. My hot water heater was leaking, and he showed up for his first appointment timely. He diagnosed the leaking water heater, but couldn't replace it, due to some sort of shortage because of the hurricanes in Florida and Houston. Ok... He did nothing to direct the leak towards the drain. 4 weeks pass, and he finally has access to a water heater. He pulls it out, and there's mold behind the water heater, and he can't put in the new one. I call my insurance company, they get someone out that night to take care of the mold. I tell Matt that it'll be ready to go on Thursday, and he agrees that he'll come by and put the water heater in. He doesn't show up. He doesn't answer his phone, it goes straight to voicemail. I've already taken the day off from work so he can do his job. I call the home warranty company, and they assign my house to another plumber to do the work. This guy showed up when he said he would, and I'll be writing a review for him next, was done in less than an hour, and have had no problems since. I'm now in the process of obtaining a lawyer to pay for my deductible that's now due to the company to repair the over $9,000 of damages that was caused by Matt not wanting to do his job. Worst plumber I've ever dealt with. Do not use him, he makes excuses for why he can't do his job, and will keep trying to add fees on top of fees if you're working with a home warranty company. read more

This company is terrible. Was required to use them for a home warranty plan. Visit lasted approximately 5 minutes. The plumber, Matt, made no attempt to diagnose my plumbing problem. He did not even bother to run a faucet or flush a toilet. He simply said that based off my description, ( which I described in detail 3 separate times via the phone), that he could not do anything for me. He did ask several times for his payment even though he merely walked through my door. He then became very agitated and made the situation very uncomfortable before leaving. A&W Plumbing 117 S Main St Apt H Algonquin, IL Our sewer lines backed up, sewage was coming out from the tub and shower drains as well as the toilets. We called this co. and the guy came out. First, he didn't have the right equipment for the job. A rooter was used but had no camera to see where it was plugged up. His only guide was to have me go in the basement and listen for it in the pipes! He didn't have a vac so he sent my husband to Home Depot to pick one up. He placed the sewage water into 5 gal. buckets and had my husband throw it out on the lawn! (my neighbor works for the village and notified them as to the sewage on the lawn - I was almost fined! I had to disinfect my lawn) He relied on my husband for help, he couldn't work by himself. He used my towels to clean up the mess on the floors. Lines were eventually cleared and he went on his way. The very next morning, the problem returned. We called him and he said he was too busy to come back. So we called another company to come out and they were so much more professional, they had all the right equipment and didn't need our assistance or towels at all! No buckets, they had a long vacuum hose that went into their truck. I was told that the first attempt was no where near done right and they showed me the clog on a camera. So, for the first time in my life I cancelled the payment to A&W. I was hoping to negotiate a price with him. When he called he was quite upset and wouldn't let me get a word in....he was quite vulgar. So my offer to adjust payment never happened. DO NOT CALL THIS COMPANY!! I'd rate them 0 stars. read more

Then asked me to text him pictures of work to be done, after sending him the pictures, never heard from him. Called and texted him several times for 3 days. got no repsone. Finally heard from him out of the blue after the work was done by another plumber, excuse was he was out of town and busy on another job, did not have the courtesy to call or text before.
