Great little cycle shop that does quick repairs at a sensible price.

At every moment possible this store gave disappointing and wrongful service which I could easily…read moretake to court and win for breach of contract and customer negligence. I ordered a bike on May 2nd to be delivered. The same day, I emailed the store to ask when the bike would be expected to arrive as they had not confirmed any delivery date at purchase. After receiving no reply, I called them days later. First, it must be noted that it took multiple attempts to actually reach them as the call struggled to even ring before disconnecting. When they did answer, they first told me that my payment wasn't accepted as it was fraudulent. They quickly corrected that as it was another customer that has ordered the same product who had the fraudulent payment. They then told me that they did not have the bike in stock and hadn't updated their website. This is crazy in its own sense as if you don't have a bike in stock, wouldn't you immediately update your website so people aren't ordering things you don't have? Apparently not. What is even worse is that they made no effort to contact me to inform me of this. Meaning that I entered a contract with wrongful information that they made no attempt of correcting. After this the man on the phone then goes on to say that they have a different size of the bike available that they could send out instead. But, yet again, he corrected himself and said that that was not the case and it was a different bike that he was talking about. It was more expensive than my original bike purchased so I asked if there was anyway that I could get this at a discounted price because of the many mistakes made in this one phone call alone. They refused and were completely unapologetic from start to finish. I didn't know what to do so I asked to call back when I've decided what to do.I called them back the next day and decided to put the money I had already payed for the bike towards a different bike and pay the rest on finance. The shop were happy with this and said that I could pick the bike up from the shop once they had finished the paperwork. .They estimated that this would be at the end of the week. Again, they refused any compensation for the situation they had put me in regarding the price or anything else regarding the product. Come the end of the week, I called to ask what was happening and they told me that I would receive a call soon from the worker dealing with my purchase. Every time I called about this, I would always be told that the person dealing with my purchase could call me back ASAP, but they never did. After more than a week of waiting for them to contact me so I could pick up the bike and me endlessly calling them asking for an update but given no information back, I asked for my purchase to be cancelled and my money to be refunded. This was on the 22nd of May. I hoped that my issues with this store would end here and I would have no more issues, but no. After waiting the 5 working days it would take for my money to be refunded, I called and asked what was happening as no money had been returned to my account. I was told that they would contact the people dealing with my refund and call me back ASAP. At no point were they apologetic with my situation. Yet again, they did not call me back ASAP so I called them back two days later to be told that they has not yet made the refund and that it would again be in my bank in 3-5 working days. Yesterday, 31st of May, I received a receipt for the refund of £651.50 but had no money in my bank account. Meaning that it has taken 9 days for me to receive a receipt ONLY. I should have received this receipt immediately after I asked for the refund as it should have been made at least the same day. Not nine days later. So, finally, today I called again to ask where my money was and was told AGAIN that my money will be back to me in 3-5 business days. I ordered this bike as a birthday present for myself. Clearly it did not come for my birthday and I was hoping with the refund I could buy myself a different present, but no.

They say all good things must come to an end....Bike Shack's branch on Lea Bridges Rd used to be 'a…read moregood thing', it was my default stop for all my bike related issues - repairs, inner tubes etc etc. It was manned by a v cool and competent Polish guy.....but....something bad happened to the running of these shops and sad to say it has had a very negative impact on their notion of customer service. So...I took my bike in for a new rear wheel and other bits, it was going to take ONE week - ouch - I need my bike everyday - but hey it needs a back wheel so, ho hum...ok. THREE weeks later after playing endless phone tag to talk to someone I was told my bike was finally ready for pick up. I drove to the shop and guess what, there it was exactly where I'd left it three weeks earlier, untouched by human hand - WTF!!!!! I'm sorry to say that the hapless guy manning the shop (who I'd never seen before) took the full brunt of my rage. These guys need to learn how to communicate and provide efficient customer service not a list of lame ass excuses ... they better learn fast too before any more of there branches have to close down.

Lock 7 - So glad this Concorde has a new owner. Can't wait to see them out on the streets of London!

The shop is well situated on Regents Canal, in the heart of a café and bike loving community. I have only taken my bike in for minor surgery, but found it to be very reasonably priced. Its not often you can get any repairs done on your bike for 4 pounds, and considering I nearly threw my bike out the window attempting to fix the breaks myself, it was well worth it. The interior of the shop, with its minimalist design, has more of a 'fixing the bike in the garage' feel than a cosy café feel. The vibe is still relaxing and the food is reasonably priced.

I have no complaints about the café's food or coffee and enjoy sitting and have a drink in the tables. I personally do not own a bike, but if I did I would definitely want to combine a dreary bike repair with a lovely warm coffee. I often see some young creative professionals doing work with a coffee and their laptops open here. They are friendly enough not to hurry you out, leaving you with a comfortable working space. Compared to the other cafés in the area, this one might appear to be a bit cold, but it is an interesting concept and it's always fun to discover a café with an edge.
