The Boat Shop is the exception to my reluctance to make recommendations. This exception is not…read morebased on random experiences, rather a 20+ year history of having Rob fix all the stuff that naturally needs attention to a heavily used 29-year-old boat (1994 MasterCraft), AND our son's MasterCraft. For brevity, I'll simply provide a list of what I know about Rob: Tangibles: - Great mechanic - Knows boats - power, performance, history of quirks/tendencies - Dependable - what he commits to, he delivers Intangibles: - Memory (beyond boats) is uncanny - years ago I stopped saying, "you work on a lot of boats so I wouldn't expect you to remember..." I stopped because he remembers your name, boat and what he has done to it. - Knows the Lake - Very careful/mindful of your boat while it's in his care - ex: he takes off his shoes when in your boat. Who does that? - Honest/trustworthy - I don't know if it's instinctual or purposeful, but he gets it. The only way to be successful for as long as he has; ya gotta be honest & trustworthy.

Rob and his team are absolutely wonderful! He is honest and obviously knows his stuff - which I…read moredon't when it comes to boats, and the reason I will never go to anyone else! Rob obviously has a heart for helping people, and he's wonderful to work with. There have been multiple occasions where our boat had a problem and Rob solved it quickly, easily, and gave us multiple options to stay within our means. Some friends on another lake always joke that BOAT stands for "Break Out Another Thousand", but here at Lake Anna we get to say, "Bring On Another Thing to Rob and get it done RIGHT!"

This is a gentleman that you can trust. Robert at R & R Marine is an experienced, knowledgeable,…read more"comes to you" boat mechanic that does good, honest work at a very fair price. He rolled up at my place with an enclosed trailer behind his truck, and his trusty dog along for the ride. He evaluated my boat motor's condition/performance while it was running with a temporary water supply, reassembled the water pump, and then recognized that a rubber connecting bushing at the water pump housing discharge was missing (that I did not even know was needed). As it was late afternoon, and over an hour and a half from his home, Robert gave me advice on the missing component, how to install it, and on reinstalling the lower unit. I picked up the part, installed it per Robert's advice, and the water pump worked! I was so thankful for the review posted by the gentleman with the blown head gasket, as the feeling I got from reading his review is why I called R & R. And the feeling I got when my water pump worked is why I will call Robert for any and all boat motor issues I ever experience. Thank you Robert, you are very much appreciated! Kenny R.

Fantastic and honest mechanic! I broke a spark plug off in my 4 stroke Honda 130 outboard engine…read moredays before we were scheduled to leave for a family vacation. The boat was essential to this trip. Desperate to fix it I called R&R on a Sunday evening with little to go on but an Internet search result. To my surprise, Robert answered my call. He sounded good on the phone, felt for me and my situation and allowed me to drop the boat off that night at his shop. By 10 the next morning he called me with the diagnostic. Water in my oil and a very seized set of threads from the old plug stuck tight in the head. Really bad news! Robert checked compression to make sure the block was good before we went further. He then pulled the head in no time and found a blown head gasket was the cause of both issues. That evening he got the old rusted plug threads out. That took serious skill and finesse! By the next day he had the parts and my engine was purring like a kitten and looked like brand new. This was a difficult job that others wouldn't have dared to touch. I'm sure many dealers would have condemned the motor as soon as they saw water in the oil, too. You can trust R & R. He's my guy for all my jobs here on out.

May be out of business…read more Not sure if they are still in business or this is just another fly by night company looking to make a quick buck. I spoke with Nikole before memorial day about some work I needed done on the boat. She said she needed to get some details and would call me back the following day. A week later still no call so I call her asking for an update. She reaponds with apologies, asks for engine serial number which I promptly email her - here we are yet another week in the future and still nothing from them.

PROMARINE should receive NO stars as it is the most unprofessional business that we have ever…read moreencountered. Here is our saga. They took our Sylvan deck boat in October to winterize it, replace the carpet, repair a navigational light and the gas gauge. I chose the carpet via messaging pictures, sent a check for $1100 in November as they would not order the carpet unless it was paid in full. I contacted Promarine in February to let them know that we wanted the boat back in the water the middle of April. I believed this would give them plenty of time to complete all repairs. Many calls, texts and their excuses, we finally got our boat back at the beginning of July WITHOUT the carpet and NO WORKING navigational light, gas gauge, horn, tachometer or volt meter!! In addition, while in storage, a tree fell onto the boat and damaged the back right corner (our insurance company has compensated us for this), but Promarine is not capable of making these repairs. Finally, on bringing it back, they blew a tire (new last summer) and ruined the rim. The boat worked for two days and now will not start. We replaced the battery, still does not work. Promarine will now not return our calls or texts. Bottom line is that we received our boat back four months late, in much worse shape than when Promarine received it and we are out $1100 and do not have a working boat. DO NOT USE PROMARINE FOR STORAGE, REPAIRS OR ANYTHING ELSE--UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES. YOU WILL BE VERY SORRY!!!

I have nothing but praise for the team at Prince William. They are professional and prompt with everything. The boatel experience is the best way to do your boating on the Potomac. The boat is high and dry when you are not using it, but is always in the water, fueled and ready to go when you want it. Boats stored in a boatel retain their resale value because they just do not age! They are not sun damaged, they do not get marine growth, they do not get vandalized... It is the best way to protect your investment. The marina has a great clientel and local yacht club. They have a heated pool for customers and it is open longer than your neighborhood pool - it is a great place to hang out and meet new friends when you can't or don't want to be out on the hook. The restaurant at Prince William is only okay - Honestly though, I have found that all the waterfront restaurants on the Potomac are lacking - between no real winter business and no real weekday business during the season, none of them can retain quality chiefs or wait staff. But you can get a decent burger and fries here - about all you would expect or need after a day on the water. The bar is lively with a full band schedule. It has a regular crowd that can be a bit sketch at times. Lots of nice Harley's in the parking lot next to the BMW's and SUV's if you are into the biker crowd. But it is generally a pleasant mix of people and I've never heard of any problems. Boating is not cheap - looking at some of the reviews, it seems that other reviewers may have had different expectations. PW Marine's service department does have high rates, but they are in the normal range for waterfront repair yards. The quality of their work is OUTSTANDING. You get what you pay for. I'll definitely be back when I'm ready for my next (bigger) boat... Thank you PW Marine for helping with all the great boating memories we have!
