I had a van towed all the way to the Southside from near the United Center. That seems excessive. The woman on the phone was nice enough and reminded "open" for me to get the van that night. The guy who gave me back the van was actually super nice and made me feel at ease, especially since I was having a bit of a breakdown with all this stress. The only thing I didn't like is that they wanted me to Venmo or Apple Pay them (no credit cards). I think I know why, but this came off really shady in the moment and took longer to get the car out because of it. Again, this is a towing company so it's not the place for happy people. However, I suppose the whole ordeal could have been way worse and they had a sliver of decent customer service. Probably my weirdest review here!

Max not only towed us but then drove us to our hotel so we could enjoy our night!! What a wonderful human!!! I spoke with J & R/Carl over the phone, he weren't sure if they could do it but he volunteered to come look at the car beforehand so if they couldn't I'd have time to find someone else. Carl came out, inspected the car, and came to the conclusion he wouldn't be able to because of the lack of tow hooks. This was completely reasonable given the type of car it is and I appreciate him coming out to look beforehand. Based off this experience I'd say Carl/J & R are very reputable and customer-oriented. If I needed a tow with a more common car I'd probably refer to them.

They are only open during business hours in the hopes you won't be able to take off work and get your car so that they can collect another days fee. They don't answer calls and are rude af. Don't call them out on their predatory practices, they will maliciously tow your car out of spite. If they have effed you over, you can file a complaint with the va state attorney generals office, dcjs, and the bbb. These predatory business need to be check and reeled in. Instead of focusing their business on honest money (recovery, roadside assistance, accident towing et) they bank most of their business on apartment complex parking enforcement and happily rake in 200+ per car per night. ABSOLUTELY DISGUSTING
