This place continues to be my life long favorite donut shop. Was recently in Grand Blanc for a visit with friends and was lucky enough to enough to be able to grab half a dozen donuts. I wish I could have gotten more but my doctor doesn't like me eating any. Moderation, am I right? Walked in and was greeted by a very friendly and polite staff. We explained we were all former Regular Customers, but no longer live in the area. They even knew the friends from both Florida and from Massachusetts wouldn't typically find the nutty donut, while we grew up with them in our arsenal. They had a great selection and all were fresh that day, some were actually just recently put in the case fresh. I chose a lemon, Bismarck, a cinnamon roll with maple frosting and nuts on top, two of the glazed donuts, one mixed fruit fritter, and a nutty donut. About 1/4 way home, I inhaled the Bismarck and my only regret is not getting a dozen donuts. That donut was still warm and was better than anything bought from a national chain, and you know who those are. The store is clean and kind of nostalgic. They had a display of vintage looking coffee cups but we were not sure if they were for sale or used for art. read more

I don't make it to the Flint area often, but when I was here a few days ago I noticed a Dawn Donuts sign and dropped a pin on my map. I haven't been to Dawn since I was a child and have wonderful memories of their delicious doughnuts and time spent with my family there. So, today I'm back in town to look at a car and where did I go first? Dawn. :) The maple frosted cinnamon roll was a fluffy cloud of cinnamony deliciousness. The apple fritter was one of the best I've ever had--fluffy, puffy goodness with none of the grease you find at other bakeries. It's a good thing I don't live near here because I'd frequent this business and try every doughnut they make to narrow it down to my favorites and then come and order those regularly. The staff was warm and friendly and there was a steady stream of customers for the half hour we sat in the dining area enjoying our treats. They wouldn't have this many customers if they weren't running a great business. Head on over to Dawn Donuts, and I'm sure you'll enjoy your doughnuts! read more

Stopped in late night after having a sugar craving. Glad we did! The feel of the place is very authentic and vintage. This is a real deal old school, no gimmicks, type of place. Regular coffee, donut recipes that have been working for decades, and old school back breaking stools at the counter. I love it. Take your kids here so they can hear tales of the olden days of the 1980s when you ordered a donut in person, face to face, no phone involved, no idea what gluten was or if the food was free of it. Anyhoo...... I may have eaten the best donut of my life last night. A man popped out from the back and gave me a freebie he said he just cooked. Oh.my.goodness. It was so light, airy, and flavorful. So far, I've tried the fritters and one vanilla iced donut. Not impressed with the vanilla iced at all... Kroger is better but the cranberry orange fritter was delicious! The apple was pretty good too. Only thing is they were not great the next day, so eat fresh! read more

I agree with Claire. We love the donuts, but the customer service was very odd. Brought my 4 kids with me to pick out Saturday morning breakfast as a special treat. The employee looked shocked I brought kids with me. She seemed impatient, at one point she started saying "stop it, stop it, stop it." I couldn't figure out what she was talking about, so I asked. "Are you talking to me?" She said yes!!! My 1 year old was slapping the donut glass. I don't disagree with her, but as I was grabbing him, she was saying "stop it." Just odd. Go to Kroger. read more

Delicious donuts! I am pretty picky about donuts. Just to give you an idea of how picky I am about them, I will not finish eating a donut if I don't like it. Their donuts are light and fluffy. Sooo good! Definitely stop by if you get the chance. Other reviews are complaining about customer service but we had no issues. read more

DO NOT GO HERE EXTREMELY UNSANITARY I worked here for a year and there is no cleanliness whatsoever. The management treats there employees terribly and with no respect. They treat their customers terribly WOULD NOT RECOMMEND Most of the young employees do not do this but the managers and bakers frost the doughnuts with their BARE HANDS and never use sanitary gloves or tissues to make the doughnuts. They leave trays of doughnuts in the back so when there are seasons of the year where there are many fruit flies, they crawl all over the doughnuts. There is a SERIOUS cockroach infestation so much so that I would see one almost every shift. They never clean there soda machine. We had a person come in and fix our soda machine and pulled me aside telling me that there was a huge buildup of mold around the nozzles. They would schedule young girls to work alone for multiple hours on second shift (2pm-10pm) which is EXTREMELY unsafe because literally anyone could easily rob the store and/or attack us. My last straw when I worked there was one of the managers called when I was working alone. When he called I was in the bathroom so I could not answer the phone. When I called him back he asked me why I didn't bring the businesses phone into the bathroom which is EXTREMELY DISGUSTING. Like, can you imagine calling a business to place a order and hearing the toilet flush in the back?! read more

Horrible. Got old donuts and they somehow tasted like corn dogs. Plus they don't use gloves even when there is a sign "to always use gloves"

Its hard to rate this because I love their donuts but hate the customer service here..I mean HATE the service..its a 24 hour donut and coffee shop which was perfect because we lived next door and those midnight cravings would kick in and couldn't help but to walk over since we could smell the fresh baked donuts from our windows..it was so lovely. The only thing was having to deal with the older man that worked the night crew..he was very anti social, rude, and acted like I was a burden to assist he really shouldn't be in a customer service environment.. I haven't had any problems with the day crew..other than that the donuts are great and not pricey at all! read more

The smell of the shop was enough to make me turn around and walk out. It was the smell of old frying oil mixed with mildew or mold. No thank you. Plus the older man with the the long facial hair was not really nice once we had walked in. Didn't look or smell sanitary. You'd think around noon on a Saturday afternoon that they would have more of a variety of doughnuts but there was only 3-4 trays of old looking food. read more

Seriously the best donuts I've ever had! We live in Columbus now and stop by whenever we're in town (and by in town, I mean within 30ish minutes.) We may have driven 45+ minutes out of our way once...or twice. Try the Chop Suey - it looks ugly, but tastes delicious. read more
