I'll never forget the day I was tormented at A&J nail spa.
I was 3 weeks postpartum and to be honest I was going through some postpartum depression, I went to this nail spa to lift my spirits and was crushed and belittled instead.
I was sleep deprived and so was my husband and our 6 year old son. We live in a rural location and it took us 45 mins of driving just to get to this nail spa. It was 116 degrees that day and my husband and newborn baby girl, and 6 year old son were waiting in the car for me just so I could get my sharp point acrylic nails (that were on the verge of breaking/ taking my daughter's eye out) removed and have a pedicure. BTW. Just getting my husband to agree to this situation was a challenge, then the drive itself was long and my baby hated car rides so much we had to pull over to comfort her 5-6 times just to get to A&J's
When I arrived in the lobby I was met by this 20 something Asian girl who asked if I had an appointment, I told her no and then briefly let her know a bit of my situation with the newborn in the car, the safety hazard nails, and how long I had to drive to get there, she replied with a curt, "well then you should have made an appointment" I smiled and said, "yeah, sorry about that, the mom brain is so real, but I figured since you guys take walk-ins that maybe you could help me out?"
After our little chat, this same girl proceeded to place 9 different customers, who all walked in after me (all of them were walk-ins just like me; without an appointment) with nail techs.
I don't like confrontation at all and tried to be patient but after waiting 50 mins and seeing all the other walk-ins go before me, I finally had to stand up for myself and share my experience with an other staff member, while I was sharing my frustrating experience I saw the 20 something girl slink off to go hide in a back room to avoid getting caught up in the consequences of her cruel and malice behavior. It was clear to me this girl was young and childless and didn't have the motherhood experience to sympathize with me at all and was determined to let all these ppl go ahead of me so she could have a power trip about ppl making appointment, or maybe she had something against tired moms, who really knows?
In the words of Niki Minaj, "I got shitted on"
When the other staff learned what had happened they sat me with a nail tech right away. But after this experience I have never returned to this or any other nail salon because this experience was so, so, so traumatic. read more
