We've been updating our house and had asked for a quote a long time ago. I remember how polite and…read moregenuine Samuel was, so I emailed again to do the work after we made some other fixes to the home. He came back out, discussed the work, and was patient with me as I sent many emails revising the work. They just came out and did the work this week and they did an amazing job! Our yard looks better than when we bought the house. I will definitely keep them in mind when we make more updates to our yard!

In all fairness, I waited a while to see how things would settle, but my opinion hasn't changed:…read morethis is a horrible company that did more damage than good. They were supposed to trim a laurel hedge, but decided to only trim it as far up as they could reach without bothering to do the upper couple of feet. It is a horrible mess. They were supposed to re-gravel the driveway, but, brought such a fine-grade gravel that it was more dust than stones. I spoke about that and Sam Hill, the owner, said "It'll be fine once it rains." NO it's not. Most of the "gravel" blew away. It's a lumpy mess. I had also specified that I wanted the gravel to go all the way out to the edges of the current drive. I even said "I want it wide." Wasn't done. I complained and Sam said, "It looks like a nice, strip up the middle." He said if I wanted it out to the edges, he could write up another bid!!!! I had gone out the day before and weeded and made the edges of the drive very clear. These lazy people didn't even bother to move a trash can that was at the side: they just left it un-graveled. They didn't spread gravel over the entire area that is the turn-around either. You can see where they just put their gravel around in patches when they thought they could get away with leaving the old gravel. They cut a 50-year old lilac down to the ground for no reason at all. Apparently, Sam's parents own a nursery, so he "made it right" by putting 2 inch tall cuttings in its place. I objected because lilacs are very slow growing. Sam said "Oh, no...they grow really fast." NOT TRUE. I then went to a nursery and picked out a 4 foot tall lilac that would still not make up for the towering one that had been destroyed, but would be better than cuttings. Sam said he'd go get it. Well, he must have gone back to mom and dad again. They planted a one foot tall weakling that is now dead. I wanted them to plant something to mask my neighbors fence from view. I said something flowering, like a dogwood or cherry. I expected someone who calls himself a landscaper to know plants; to know what would grow in the space indicated. I babied that tree for months, but...it's now dead, too. So, thousands of dollars went for damage and ignorance and laziness and refusal to repair what they ruined. DO NOT USE THESE PEOPLE.

If you are looking for a design/build firm to make your outdoor landscaping oasis dreams come true,…read moreOutdoor Design by Oz is your team! We loved their online portfolio and came to Ozzie, Owner, with a very complex large and tall retaining wall project for our backyard. We enjoyed working with their team so much that after our backyard was completed, we signed on to do our front yard and driveway with them! After our initial meeting with Ozzie and Christine, Designer, they knew right from the get-go that our project will need to go through the 3-6 month permitting process with the City of Seattle. They also let us know early on that a structural engineer, geotech, and site surveyor were needed and they would be handling the coordination process. We felt confident in signing the contract after our meeting since they were detailed in explaining the entire process to us from design conception, permitting, to construction. Christine came to us with fantastic designs, while making our challenging backyard as usable as possible with the large retaining wall. She listened to our needs, made design adjustments to fit our lifestyle, and also stopped us from making decisions that would not benefit us (very important!). She quickly turned around updated drawings and renderings and gave us great suggestions on where to shop for materials to create our desired look and feel for our backyard. Ozzie got us through permitting smoothly and we were ready to start construction! He and his team were amazing throughout the entire process. We encountered several material delays that were outside of anyone's control and he was very communicative on timelines while we waited for things to arrive. Ozzie and his team were very accommodating to making adjustments during the construction process to make sure we got things built exactly as we envisioned like pattern layouts, tile layouts, and lighting placement. We loved their craftsmanship and our project turned out beautifully! 100 Stars!!! Hire Outdoor Design by Oz!!

Ya'll, listen, Gerard's Landscaping is GREAT! I wanted a fence built, a flagstone path laid, and a…read moreretaining wall built. I talked to multiple contractors - some who just didn't call back, a few who said they couldn't (wouldn't) build the fence I wanted, and frankly, a few that I just didn't like. Gerardo showed up, chatted with me about what I wanted, took measurements, and gave me a bid on the spot. I was moving into a house I was rehabbing and needed a portion of this fence done right away because I have a dog and he hustled to not only build the new portion I needed, but went out of his way to do some repairs on the existing fence to keep my dog safe and secure. He and the people working for him showed a lot of attention to detail, checked in with me often about the project to make sure it was coming along and looking as I expected, and every day at the end of the day the work site was clean and organized. I'm planning some plant installations and a new deck and Gerard's Landscaping is going to be my first call!

They asked me technical questions on the grade for my backyard and the kind of material i need for the steps, which i had no clue about. So I told them that i would need guidance. They sent me a very lengthy message. Whoever was responding, was in the field and took time out to respond and didnt like that I had not done my due diligence. They told me that the market has changed and they need their customers to do some research. Then they gave me an arbutrary deadline to join a COMPLIMENTARY 10min call. The number of red flags in 1 message exchange. First of all, if you are in the field don't respond to the message or hire someone who can do it without getting upset that their customer do not know what they need.
