They fixed my old Singer Touch & Sew for about $100 less than the price I got from another shop. After the repair, I was worried that it was still not sounding right, and A&A willingly rechecked the machine and assured me that all was well. And yes, it seems to be working fine now. They also replaced the foot pedal which was a massive improvement since I could only sew at one speed before. The shop is not too easy to find, but Ana helped us with directions since we came from out of the area. There is parking up the ramp after you go through the white gates. read more

I just finished my visit at a A&A sewing machine and I was greeted by Ana and she also assisted me over the phone and told me just to go ahead and come in so that they could look at my machine. I have a brand new singer and the second day my thread started bunching up at the bottom And I spent two hours trying to figure out what was going on with my machine once I got to the shop, they helped me right away. The mechanic came out and looked underneath and found out that the bobbin cartridge was just offset a little bit. He fixed it right away and taught me how to properly thread my machine and gave me a few other tips. Both of them were amazing and so much help. A&A is a tiny sewing machine repair shop in Glendale. It's a little hard to find the first time - I missed the driveway and parked on the street...then after climbing some stairs I realized you can drive up the ramp right to the door almost. I drove up the second time! Anyway, I brought my old Brother sewing machine here that I've had for probably 25 years and have never had serviced. Insane, I know. It had only been used intermittently every few years and I didn't know how often you're supposed to do that! Now I do. Definitely call before going, I think their hours vary day-to-day. The woman working there noted that my Brother machine had all-metal parts, which is not the case in newer machines. She recommended hanging on to it for that reason! The new ones have plastic parts in some areas and are apparently not even worth repairing. They don't make them like they used to! I got my machine back in about a week, and it seems to be in excellent working order. I haven't taken on a sewing project yet, but I did test it out quickly on some scrap fabric and both the machine and I are happy! read more

When I got it back it worked fine for just a little bit then started having problems again. I ended up taking it to another place in la Crescenta. Words cannot describe how happy I am with the service provided by A and A sewing Machine . I came to A and A with my vintage chain stitching machine. The table that i had for it was a vintage foot powered sewing table. They were able to not only just fix my machine but also took my old table, that was falling apart, and crafted a custom new table using the beautiful antique base that i had from before. They really took into consideration when I explained how little space i have at home. It fits perfectly in my tiny apartment and now has an electric motor so i can use my machine with so much more ease. I highly recommend them to anyone that truly cares about their sewing machine. It is working perfectly--a new motor, timing adjusted and even new needles--I was using the wrong size head! I don't really take care of my sewing machine as well as I should, and I also never got it serviced ever in the 10 years I've had it. Ana (I think is her name?) suggested that sewing machines, like cars, should get a service done to them at least twice a year (oops, heh). My Singer machine's feed dogs had stopped working one night when I was trying to finish up a small project last minute. I started slightly panicking because I thought, this was it, I'd finally officially broken my machine with my irresponsibility and the fact that I never really cleaned it or would just carelessly shove thick fabrics through to sew. I don't live in the Glendale area, but I thought I'd give A & A a try since they were the only place that showed up on Yelp with decent reviews. They're friendly, responsive, and efficient. Ana took the time to show and explain to me why my machine stopped working, and she was easy to communicate with. They fixed my machine earlier than expected, and they're also organized and good about scheduling appointments/following up with ready-for-pickup calls. Ana even told me they'd be willing to stay later than their normal hours if after work on a weekday was the only time I was free to come by. Now it's like I have a brand new machine because it sews so well and doesn't sound like a dying cat anymore! They work by appointment only and will first give you a quote, and I think the price is pretty reasonable considering it was my first time ever getting my Singer serviced. I paid $179 for a "full service" on my machine, when they gave it back to me, it was an oily mess. they had put way too much oil in my machine and it got EVERYWHERE. it even got under the belt so much it started slipping. it is still spitting oil when i sew. they didn't even look under the foot plate to get the lint out. my machine was filthy with oil and old lint when i got it back. i understand needing to lubricate parts if they are tight or stuck, but not even cleaning up the excess oil after is just sloppy. when i called to let them know i was not happy she was concerned and relatively kind at first until i mentioned everything that was wrong with my machine. she did offer to let me bring it back and they could fix it on the spot, but i have to uber right now, so i said that it would still be a cost to me and that i was not satisfied with that resolution. she claimed that the oil spill was my fault because of how i transported my machine, but there shouldn't be enough oil in a sewing machine for that to happen ever. she was saying that if there was any other issue it was a problem with me. i don't know how leaving disgusting (now oil covered) lint underneath the foot plate is my fault. she ended up banning me from the store after refusing to give me a partial refund because "the work was done and if you have a problem with it thats your problem" she then told me to never bring my machine to them again or call them ever again and then dropped the F bomb before hanging up on me. i was appalled by her behavior given the amazing reviews on here. read more

This place is a joke, the dude comes out looks at your machine, acts like he some big shot heart surgeon. Sends notes to the woman who then reads them to you, gives a quote that is so over priced. If I could rate higher than 5 stars for this business I would. Backstory: After 3 weeks of waiting, I was notified that the parts that were apparently needed to repair my machine had only just arrived at the first repair shop I took my machine to in the SF valley. My machine would then be in a queue of 20+ machines before it'd be repaired (we're talking about a slight timing issue here that would've had me wait almost a month). Being a small business owner, I let them know that I could not wait any longer as my machine is my livelihood, and that I'd be picking up my machine the next day regardless if it is repaired or not. That same day, I found A&A sewing. I called and after two rings, Ana picked up and let me know that she could have my machine ready in a week or less. That was all I needed to hear, so the next day after I was overcharged for the machine parts from the previous place, I took my machine in to A&A Sewing Machine and slightly vented to Ana and Vick about the troubles I'd been facing. Ana and Vick were both sympathetic and understanding. I appreciated them taking the time to walk me through the issues my machine might be facing and when I could expect it to be ready. I paid half up front, thanked them both, and got in my car to leave. That's when my car suddenly died on me. I'm a 23 y/o designer that isn't very well-diverse in the auto engineering world, so least to say I was a bit frustrated and physically upset. Ana and Vick both noticed and came to my aide without hesitation. Vick had me pop the hood of my car to take a look while Ana ushered me out to sit in the shade. She gave me a bottle of water and a chair and waited with me until a tow truck came. While I waited and talked with Ana, she told me how important it is in their culture to help one another. This was while Vick and a few of his friends ( or family, I didn't think to ask of the relation), tried whatever they could to find the issue on my car. Once the tow truck came, it was too big to make it up the steep drive, so Vick and his friends physically pushed my car themselves down the drive and up to the tow truck. I really could not believe that total strangers would take time out of their work day to help push a customers car down a hill on a 100º+ day. Believe it or not, once the tow truck came, HIS flatbed stopped working so he had to call ANOTHER tow truck to come. I had already praised Vick for helping me so much that he truly did not need to take any more time out of his day as he's already done so much. He had told me how he and Ana have daughters close to my age and that he'd want someone to help his family if they were in my situation. Vick stayed with me in the shade until my dad was able to come get me. I probably was at the shop in total for maybe 2-3 hours, and the whole time, both Ana and Vick, had stayed with me, talked to me, made sure I was okay, and most importantly, they made sure I felt safe. Never in my life have I met another store owner(s) that have gone out of their way to help a person, let alone a customer, the way they did. And after all that, Ana called me even earlier than she previously stated that my machine was ready to be picked up. When I came back, again, they walked me through what was the issues of my machine and where they think the previous repair shop had fallen short. I was so thankful for their transparency as we're still all going through a tough financial time, we don't all have the time or money to be taken advantage of. 5 days total and my machine works just like new! Ana and Vick are two people who truly care about what they do and the customers they have. These are great great people, and with everything going on in the world, it validated that there are genuinely good, honest, and hard working people in the world. I wish Ana, Vick, and A&A Sewing Machine nothing but prosperous business and continued success. To say the least, they've gained a customer for life. 10/10 read more
