My Bernina Sewing machine was all out of wack! They fixed it up and it works like new! While I was there I saw that they also repair Kitchen Aid stand mixers! My daughter's sewing machine was in dire need of a tune up and I came across this little gem while looking for a place to take it. I love that it's in the heart of Magnolia Park and is next door to a great little coffee shop. There is street parking here and I've never had an issue finding a spot. I could tell that this place would be good because there was already someone else in there picking up a sewing machine and she was telling me that she's been a long time customer. The service took about a week and the sewing machine is working fabulously. I don't know what to compare pricing to, but I feel like the $90ish I was charged would be a fair price for this type of service, because it's a big job. The man that I dealt with, whom I assume is the owner, is very friendly and is really good at what he does. Unfortunately, even with such good reviews, I have to give an awful review. I brought a Singer old sewing machine and the owner returned an old Kenmore. Different brand. He claim the ticket was the same, as if tickets could not be switched. So, my old and loved Singer sewing machine, probably a priced antique was exchanged by this store for a Kenmore. The backstitch button on my vintage Kenmore 385 stopped working. We randomly ended up in Burbank with the machine in the trunk, and I saw Ace Vacuum & Sewing as we were driving by. I was in the market for a QUALITY vacuum, after my previous vacuum of 30 years(!) finally gave up. I was thinking I wanted a Miele C3; but Dragan (?) explained that I might like the SEBO E3 better. It was fully made in Germany--and I'm from the ABC club, Anything But CHY-NAH--so the SEBO appealed to me. The guy behind the counter basically told me not to waste my money unless I wanted a stick as a secondary or backup vacuum and to keep using what I've got. I am amazed how wonderful this place is. I place an APB on anyone who could help me with a Dyson stick vacuum that my neighbor was throwing in the garbage heap. My vacuum cleaner repair and maintenance guy in SGV retired and closed shop. Ace had really good reviews on repairing Dysons, but they were 20 miles away in Burbank. So off to Burbank I go with my 15-year old Dyson. I found Johnny to be personable and knowledgeable. Two days later, Johnny called to say it was time for a new vacuum. After some discussion, Johnny said he could order a new vacuum head, but it would cost more, but buy me the time needed (couple of years) to start thinking and reviewing for a new vacuum. Two days later when I went to pick up my Dyson, it was so clean, I didn't recognize it! I have a Dyson - having both high-pile carpet and hardwood floor so I decided to buy the famous Dyson.. I have to keep cutting the fibers that get wrapped around the rotating wheel, and it gets plugged all the time. I had a major clean out by Johnney and it worked great- then I plugged it up again with pine needles. I took it back and he did a quick clean out and added a new side filter - at very little charge. Rude, unprofessional business owner. Two weeks my rumba is there, I asked what the problem was once I had no update in two weeks. Owner said he hasn't gotten 'that far.' - which means, he hasn't even looked at my product. The issue is an external door latch which was pointed out at the time of drop off. Instead, claims to charge over 120. When asked what the problem was, he says it just needs to be cleaned. In other words, he never even looked at what the actual issue was: the latch. Go elsewhere. Absolutely top-notch service. I have a Dyson "Pet" vacuum from 2001 that's served me well, but it never got any maintenance in the past. It was starting to act wonky. For a very reasonable price, they got it working not only perfectly, but replaced the hose, driving belts, primary filter, washed the other filter, and cleaned it up completely. First of all you have to understand that my wife LOVES to vacuum. It is not only a routine for her but it is therapeutic at the same time. She has a very good German vacuum, but even good ones break down once in a while. When it does, we will drive all the way from Santa Clarita to Burbank to ACE Vacuum, because there is no other shop that we have ever come across that gives the exemplary kind of service and value you get at Ace. Johnny is a standout. Not only is he kind and understanding, but he is the consummate professional. He quickly diagnoses the problem, provides an estimate, and a realistic pick up date. On top of that, Johnny will pick up the phone and call us with periodic updates, sometimes when we are still in our car after leaving the shop. Who does that anymore?! Recently, the motor went out in our vacuum and we had to make the choice between replacing the motor or buying a whole new vacuum, which would have cost over $700. Johnny went to bat for us and fought to get the motor covered under warranty. Before we left he gave us a recommendation for the best bakery in town, Portos, that was right down the street. In the end, the vacuum was covered under warranty, which wouldn't have happened had Johnny not intervened. After loading up the repaired vacuum, we headed over to Portos and picked up a couple loaves of bread and a half dozen potato balls. It was a great day. I called three vacuum repair shops in the greater Burbank area to find one that does Roomba repair. And I found them! Ace Vacuum was very up front and honest about the Roomba (aka "lil buddy"). I'm very emotionally attached to that Roomba. OK More like, it costs a lot of money to get a newer model Roomba and I wasn't ready to spend $500+ on a new one. Brought lil buddy to the shop. Their process is that they will evaluate your system to find out what is wrong, then call you so you can make a decision if you want to have it repaired or not (and call with a quote). They won't charge you to look into the issue, which I found reassuring. The quote was VERY reasonable. Not only was it super affordable, I got my roomba back even better than it ever was! Now lil buddy is back to his meaningless life of sucking up cat hair, and I can kick back and relax while my robot minion does manual labor for me. 90 day warranty means that even if my lil buddy tries to die in the immediate future, I can bring it back to Ace for fixin.
