We've now completed two projects with A&A Services and couldn't be happier. They were prompt, fair cost-wise and professional. We will be sure to continue to use them and recommend with the highest confidence! read more

A&A recently completed new vinyl siding, gutters, downspouts, soffits, fascia , and repair on my home. They coordinated everything, and started on time. Delivery of a dumpster, materials, even a port a potty. Crew worked hard, striping old wood shingles, replaced some rot, Installed house wrap, new siding, wrapped windows, doors & trim in aluminum. The crew member, who sculpted the aluminum trim for windows is an artist! Beautiful job. clean up, and removal dumpster, etc., was quick, too. I am very happy with A&A Services, and definitely recommend them, if you need home improvements. read more

Rep came out this week to do an estimate on some windows and doors I want to replace. Rep is very friendly and professional, spent a long time doing thorough measurements, taking photos, etc and set up a follow-up meeting two days later. Brought sample materials, detailed work plan, took me through everything. Over an hour later I finally asked, so, how much is the estimate? For the 2 highest priority items, one half light side door 30x80, steel, not fiberglass, to save cost, and one vinyl double hung window 28x42, plus a storm door, the quote was more than $12,500. Plus overage carpenter time at $142 per hour. I was stunned, then despairing thinking I cannot afford to get even two simple repairs to my house, let alone the other windows and doors I would like to replace. This was more than double the very highest I expected. Then I thought, wait a minute, at the 20 man-hours standard time for this project @$142/hour, labor would be under $3,000, so how can materials and profit be another $9-10,000? I cannot understand why there are no reviews mentioning the extraordinarily high prices A&A attempts to charge. Two stars for wasting several hours of my time over two days with a elaborate sales presentation, only to get a useless estimate. read more

They are top rated in North Shore Best Pick Reports magazine and they advertise roof repair as well as new installations so I called them to remedy two roof leaks I have. They did not call me back after promising to do so and when I called them back they said they could not come out because they were not the ones that installed my roof. So why advertise repairs without saying it is for old customers only? Top rating is undeserved. read more

We needed new windows and a slider - sounds simple but no! They needed to match the color and design of an old condo building. We tried a couple of local companies but because these will be special order it was going to take 8-12 weeks, and we were hoping for a quicker resolution. Enter the Melrose Farmers Market - one of the vendors was A&A Services - they replace roofing, siding, and windows. Sean Luddy the sales manager came out, measured, and made suggestions. The turnaround time was 3 weeks. The windows and door were on time. The installers were professional, cleaned up, and did a great job. It was not the cheapest but seamless and excellent customer service. I would highly recommend A& S Services. read more

This was my second project with A&A, after having new windows installed in just one room three years ago. This project was about replacing all the other windows, and the patio door as well. While Ed is a sales consultant officially, his approach was that of a tradesman at heart. Ed was greatly helpful once again throughout the project. He walked me very thoroughly through what would be done, so I was comfortable "going all in." A few days later, I saw Ed back outside my house taking measurements (again). Since I noticed, I let him in to double-check on a few indoor specifications as well. They know their due diligence at A&A. Next up: Getting the project approved by the city's Historical Commission, which is very meticulous about all the trimmings of historical buildings that can be seen from public ways. Again, this was in good hands with Ed. He explained to me the potential sticking points, prepared his case, attended the Commission hearing on my behalf, and successfully ferried the project through the process. It took a tad longer than I thought it would for the project to move forward with execution. That was probably a supply-chain issue. The pleasant surprise was that the eventual plan was for the whole project to take only two days rather than the four days projected originally. In the end, the actual completion was exactly one day behind the date projected originally, so...same difference. It was about time the windows and patio door got replaced. As of this writing, I still need to do some priming and painting on the trimmings, and re-install the curtains. That tempers my excitement a bit, but already I get a sense of how the new windows and doors upgrade my place. The capable crew did an outstanding job. You get what you pay for. Once again, A&A delivered just the result I was looking for: home improvement. read more

We needed vinyl siding for our two front dormers. After researching home improvement companies, we decided to go with A&A due to Jerry's professionalism and knowledge. Very personable. We selected the siding that resembled shingles. Looks fantastic. The installers were great and left our property free of any debris. Highly recommend A&A Services Home Improvement for any job that you need done. read more

Quick response, thorough sales and pricing process, fast product procurement, easy scheduling, and great installation. Jerry and Andrew were great to work with and I am already looking at other projects to call on them for They truly made the process easy and as most of us know, contracting projects can be a very nerve racking and difficult experience. read more

This past Summer we had a huge bay window area completely replaced, including the wood trim. The carpentry done by A&A was just lovely. It's a wonky, old house with hardly any 90 degree angles and they did a fantastic job. Also had a huge slider picture window replaced, due to broken seals, and boy, what a difference. They take special care with not just installation, but all the bits and pieces surrounding the window. It looks so clean and well done. Their work is consistently good. read more

A & A continues to offer quality products and service. We just had them replace a window pane (for the other big-named window replacement company). We couldn't be more pleased with the process from estimate to completion. A & A is our go-to contractor. read more

A&A always delivers quality work at competitive prices, and I have hired their services 3x now for a reason. I recommend them. Additional attributes include, among other things, easy to do business with, a communication and accountability style that is clear, concise, conscientious and reliable. That consistency in all phases of interaction with them - from quote to job completion - is refreshing in this day and age. read more

A&A Services Home Improvement - a bathtub and window - General Contractors Near Me - Salem, Massachusetts

We just had our roof replaced, could not be happier with the job and the service we received. When I called to request an estimate, I had an appointment for just a few days later. Ed was personable and knowledgable, and answered every question patiently. The turn around time was quite quick and Carl and the team had the job done in a day, and cleanup completed the next. I was impressed with everyone's politeness and professionalism, and I appreciated that everyone was masked and careful to observe social distancing. We totally adopted Ed and would cheerfully work with any of the A&A team again. Thanks again for such a great experience! read more

Timely. Efficient. Polite. Considerate. What a wonder the experience was. We needed gutters installed to corral the water of rain runoff coming down in front of our front/back door. It's a 150+ year old house, so it has it's quirks... like never having gutters installed... ever. A&A sent some folks out to talk about what 'our needs were' and applied their knowledge to present a solution 'they could stand behind' and that would fix our problem. Payment was clearly defined and scoped out. It was simple and efficient to find a day (literally took them 4 hours) to come out and get it installed. They called a day prior to verify we were still on schedule (something no one in New England ever does). They arrived on time, explained what they needed again (it had been a month and they wanted to ensure we knew what they were doing), then cleaned up after themselves when the job was done. 10/10 would recommend. Matt provided great service and we'll be using them again. read more

Here's the way it works with these guys: a salesperson checks what you want done, writes up a contract, and a crew comes to do ONLY what's on that list. IF they notice something right next to where they're working, one or two of the crew might tell you to tell the sales guy (one guy won't bother, because he's pissed all the time ...maybe because he wants to hurry up and go drink. When you tell the "boss" he gives you an estimate to do the "extra" but when the carpenters finish the extra the cost is 50% more than the firm estimate given to you two days ago. The company is a total money vacuum...they charge almost twice as much as other firms, and you DON'T get high quality work. You get average work. I just had to have some work done they should have done before now (I'm hedging time lines to stay anonymous here)..I paid 1/2 what A&A would have charged me, and the work is much better. I took photos showing what A&A didn't do. I'll take photos of how the new guy fixed what they should have done. Don't believe all the marketing hype...in the case of A&A, you don't get what you pay for, not by a long shot. read more

Second time we've used AA. This was for window replacement and first was for roof. We would use again and recommend.

A top notch services. It could be not the cheapest company, but my windows are well insulated. Its worth to pay for it.

I highly recommend these guys. Hired them in the past for major work on my house(siding, windows, doors, gutters & downspouts, rebuilding my front porch and my cellarway). They did a damn fine job. read more

We have used A &A three times, the first for seamless gutters. We have an older home so work here is often complicated. Everything with AA was smooth from good pricing thru the end of the job. I returned home from work and thought they had not come as there was NO indication contractors had been here...except beautiful new gutters. We then took advantage of a winter special and had several jobs completed including a railing to basement, a new window and a new front door. I thought I did not like the window and called. Within days the owner came out, answered my questions and explained what I needed to know. We kept the window and love it 2 years later. We were impressed with their committment to customer satisfaction. SO we just had them do another big job for us on the exterior...two 8 foot sliders and major reconstruction of the wall, inside and outside.. and they again were easy to deal with and did a great job. I am adding to this review as I just read a review where a woman complained they would not talk to her unless her husband was home. I FIND THAT HARD TO BELIEVE...CAPS ON PURPOSE...because for all 4 of our jobs over 3 years I was the one to talk with the man who came each time, as my husband happened to not be home every time!! read more

I've employed A&A services for several jobs now. I originally called in 2013 to ask for a quote for gutter installation but ended up having them reshingle the sidewalls of several dormers on my house. The carpenters that did the work were extremely professional and their attention to detail was impressive, right down to the fact that they cleaned up every scrap. The price was slightly higher than I expected, but the result was worth it. This year I had A&A come back and (1) install some gutters around my house, (2) replace several walls worth of cedar shingles that had deteriorated around my garage, and (3) replace my garage roof. Ed, the salesman I deal with, has always been very good about returning phone calls in a timely manner, explaining options for the work to be done or the materials that will be used, outlining the anticipated project schedule, and making sure that the guys doing the work have everything they need and that I am extremely satisfied with the results. When the guys were doing my garage roof it was expected to rain and while they were unable finish the job before the rain started, they made sure that the roof was waterproof before they left for the day. When it came to the last day of the roof project it was expected to rain heavily later in the day but the crew showed up first thing in the morning to try and finish it before the rain. Unfortunately, it started when there was still about 4 hours of work left but they stuck it out and ended up completing the roof in the freezing rain. Several days later there was quite a bit of heavy rain and I was glad they'd pushed to finish it before the weather turned worse. Of the half dozen crew members I've interacted with each has been courteous to my family and I, exhibited great attention to detail in their work, and gone out of their way to make sure the work they do is of the highest quality. I will definitely continue doing business with them. read more

A&A recently did some work on our neighbor's home that required the crew to be in our yard for several days. The job was messy and complicated. Each day at least one member of the crew checked in with us and made sure we didn't have any complaints. They even repaired some trim on our porch (no charge, of course). A&A made every effort to ensure our space was clean and safe throughout construction. We may have been on the periphery of this project, but we certainly benefited from the work ethic of A&A Services this fall. read more

A&A Services did the vinyl siding and gutters on my house in 2006. Sales rep Ed Burge was thorough and accurate with his estimate, the crew was clean and professional, and the job was completed quickly. Ed personally checked on the site throughout the process and paid attention to small details we pointed out. The materials and installation were flawless and still like new 13 years later. One small issue that arose several years later after a major storm was fixed at no cost. This company's prices aren't the lowest, and the gutter system they sold might have been overkill for our needs, however the quality products and workmanship were well worth it. read more

First let me say that I did not have any work done, however, I did meet with Ed B. from A & A to discuss roofing needs and siding needs. Ed arrived as scheduled to my home. He was AWESOME! He thoroughly checked out our roof our siding, trim, etc. Turns out we still have some life left in both. He was informative, honest, and a stand up guy. The two times I called the office to make/change appointments the women I spoke to were pleasant, helpful and efficient. When the time comes to have the work done on my house, A & A will be who I call. read more

We engaged A&A Services to replace 4 very large storm windows in a condominium. There were no problems setting up a first meeting at the site, and we were given a detailed quote. The work was scheduled as soon as the windows were manufactured by A&A's vendor (Harvey). They were installed in less than a day by a hard-working crew who did a great job. During the process, we exchanged telephone calls in re scheduling. All calls were answered promptly. Knowledgeable, dependable and courteous, I would highly recommend A&A. read more

My husband and I have hired A&A services for several jobs over the years, most recently to fix very tricky basement windows which other contractors told us were too small to replace. A&A came up with a solution and the windows look great! Every time they do a job for us, they do so professionally. They show up when they say they will and thoroughly clean up after themselves when they are done. I feel like they respect our time, which has not typically been the case with other contractors we have dealt with over the years. The only reason I am not giving 5 stars is they are on the pricier side but they are well worth the extra money! read more

We had an all-aluminum storm door installed by A&A Services to replace one installed by a national chain home owner store which was never hung square in the first place and which lasted only 5 years before falling apart. Our installer José got here on schedule and finished a rather complicated installation within 30 mins. of predicted end of job time. And the work was done as specified by the estimator, so overall an expert performance. read more

We had a logistically difficult window installation project that entailed some light construction and siding. We consulted with a couple of contractors who kind of scratched their heads but walked away wanting the job and assuring us they would "figure it out." Then we called A&A. Chris took a look, told us exactly how it needed to be done, carefully reviewed window choices with us and gave us the estimate. We moved ahead with the work and he sent over an amazing crew of guys who were in and out of our house in three days. The quality of their work exceeded our expectations in every way. No muddy footprints on the stair carpet, no Dunkin' Donuts cups left on my grandmother's sideboard, no "surprises" in the bathroom. In fact -- and this is absolutely true -- they left the room where the work was performed cleaner than it was before they started. But more important, the work was top notch and did not exceed the estimate. We will definitely use them again! read more

This company was great when they installed a roof vent and Sean responded instantly to my call when I had a followup question. I would definitely recommend them! read more

This happened a few years back when A&A services secured my property after I had been broken into. The guys who came out to secure the property for the night were great! The next morning another guy (Ed) came out to give me an estimate on replacing some doors that were damaged. The guy was so rude and completely ignorant. The first comment he made was, "they broke in once, and they'll do it again." Almost like a scare tactic. He finished his estimating and told me right away it was going to be lot of money. I mentioned that I would be putting a security system in at some point. Well he must have taken that the wrong way because he left and I started to drive to work. About 10 minutes later, he called my cell phone and started yelling at me. Basically telling me I had some nerve to have him come out when I wasn't planning to get the doors replaced and that I needed to pay the $125 fee for the estimate and it was going to cost me time and a half for the guys who came out the night before. I told him to bill me and that I'd pay it. Wouldn't you know, the bill was in my mailbox when I got home that night. He was such a JERK!! I took my business elsewhere and I will NEVER refer them or ever think to call them again. read more
