Two years ago, the Northeast was suffering from a significant number of heavy rainstorms and flash floods. This is how I discovered my roof was leaking in two areas. Roofing companies were very busy that summer and I was struggling to find a quality company. My neighbor referred me to Trahant Roofing. The representative, Ken, was responsive and provided me with a quote and start time. I accepted. On the scheduled day, a crew of significant size arrived at my home and removed the old shingles, corrected a few issues, and installed the new shingles at rapid pace. It was quite impressive to watch, leaving me to wonder just how many roofs they install per day. As they packed up their trucks, I spoke with the gentleman who oversaw the crew and expressed my concern over the appearance of weather stripping under my dormer window. It was crinkled and looked terrible. I wasn't happy and when I expressed my concern, I was told there wasn't anything Trahant could do because that's how the material looked after they removed it before starting the work. I was baffled and asked why they re-used a piece of material. Again, I expressed my concern and was dismissed. Two years later my neighbor noticed that my roofline and the drip edge didn't line up with the fascia board. It appeared the shingles were lifting away from the fascia board. I was concerned that water, moss, mildew, etc. would be able to get under there and cause problems. I contacted Ken and supplied him with photos, requesting someone to meet me at my house to review that situation. I also wanted to address the dormer issue. A member of the Trahant team went to my house when I wasn't there, and after some back-and-forth missed calls with Ken, we finally connected. He told me there were problems with moss on my chimney that needed to be addressed. I explained that my chimney was fine, which is when he realized it was the wrong house. I corrected him and he then said, "There wasn't anything wrong" with my house. I told Ken that I wanted someone to come to my house. Since September 2023 I've asked Ken to set up a time for me to meet with someone from Trahant. For 8 months I heard, "I'll check the schedule and get back to you" though he never did. Finally, I received an email stating that Bailey Trahant would be at my house. I waited and waited... nothing. Two days later I received a call from my neighbor stating that Trahant Roofing was at my house. Conveniently, I was not informed. After they left, Ken sent me an email blaming the problem on anything other than Trahant's workmanship. He did offer me an estimate to have the problem corrected, but I declined. Why would I believe him at that point? If you're looking to have your roof replaced quickly, Trahant Roofing is your company! However, if you think they'll correct their mistakes or treat you with respect, you're sadly mistaken. read more

At first they seemed to be good. They sent a huge team and finished my roof quickly. A month later two different contractors were at my house to address insulation and windows and both told me that the job had not been done correctly. Mass save rep said we had improper venting, and the window contractor said they had nailed the new roof into a lot of rotted wood and he would have to cut back flashing and redo big sections of the job to fix it. When I reached out to try to figure out how to make this right Trahant was extremely unkind to me on the phone. They were slightly more willing to communicate with my husband but nothing got resolved. I did make a point in asking, when first booking the job, if they would make repairs as needed when replacing the roof. I was assured they would, but after seeing how they work, they're very focused on a fast pace and seem to find it more important to finish the job in half a day then to do it correctly. If your house is in good shape and does not have any other issues and you'll probably have an OK experience. However, if you have a older home that does need repairs near the roofline please know these guys are focused on fast and not taking the time to do the job thoroughly and correctly. If you call the question them after you will be met with hostility. I'd heard so many good things about this company, and many neighbors in Marblehead are using them, but buyer beware! We had a truly awful experience. It's going to cost me thousands to repair and redo the work because they didn't want to slow down and do it right. If I could leave 0 stars I would. read more

Our roof is failing and we need an estimate ASAP. Days have gone by with absolutely no response. If you want to leave messages into the void, definitely call them. This company is one of the best roof replacement companies I have ever used. From my initial contact with Ken, the prime contact person, to the completed new roof, the project went well. The owner and son were on site to oversee the work and to respond my questions. They arrived on time and on the scheduled date, with 10 trucks and 14 employees. I live in Saugus, MA and noticed we had a water leak on our kitchen ceiling. I called 9 companies and I found when I called Trahant Roofing in Lynn, MA and spoke to Ken that would be the company we would use. They sent over a gentleman (Mario) from Primo's Construction and Roofing out of Lynn, MA and he was very courteous, professional and honest. He told me that I did not need a whole new roof that he could repair it. I would recomend this company 100%. When you call be sure to speak to Ken and he will put you in the right direction and spend all the time you need on the phone with him. Found these guys through a church bulletin. Was a little nervous because Angie's List had mediocre reviews, but all the well rated guys didn't call us back. With a leaking roof, we just had to go ahead and get someone, otherwise all our things would be ruined. The guys showed up and finished the leaky roof in one day. Absolutely the worst roofing company on the North Shore. Also be weary of the generic estimates that provide no detail. Trahant recently replaced a roof on one of our properties (I found out later) using the cheapest materials possible and nothing was done to manufacturers specifications. They didn't even meet code for insulation on my rubber roof and used 1/2" FIBER BOARD which is JUNK. Run don't walk away from these guys and their tail light warranty. read more

Wow what an experience. Showed up today with a army of employees in Red Trucks and Cars. It was a frigid, blustry day with snow on the roof....I might have gone home! Watching the shingles being removed was like a time lasp movie as it was when the new shingles were going on. Teamwork was the order of the day if they were to finish...8 to 3 and it was done. The owner was on site, outside all day supporting his employees..a sight not always seen. All of our roofs have now been done...to bad, I wont be watching in amazement this well orchestrated group. They were super responsive and gave us a quote that was half the price of another company. So after this record breaking snow, I ended up with over 3 feet of snow on my roof and ice dams forming on my gutters. I called Trahant, spoke to Ken, and even though all of their workers were doing snow removal for the Town, they still had several men come over the next day and break up the ice dams and shovel snow off the roof for 1 full hour. These guys are working on the house next door to mine and have already alienated me in less than an hour. Parked in my backyard/not a parking lot without asking if it was okay. Set up ladders right near my daughter's car which was parked in yard before they arrived. Started working and dropping shingles and whatever on to my plants against the fence that separates my yard from the neighbor's. I understand they want to get the job done fast thus the number of workers onsite and the number of vehicles in my yard, a neighbor's, the Court and the street, but it is all a little over the top. My neighbor may not have felt the need to say anything, but I think a reputable contractor should have verified that it was okay to access my property for a job they were performing for someone else. Hope my neighbor is satisfied with the quality of work after the job is complete because if I ever hear anyone say they are using Trahant Roofing I am not sure I will have anything good to say. Two and one-half hours later roof work is done and they are gone and I have gone out to check for any damage...two of my long growing hosta plants were damaged/crushed/broken from old shingles being dropped off roof and there are some small pieces of shingle mixed in with some of the other hostas. So all in all I guess the damage was minimal, but I still believe they should have knocked on my door prior to parking their vehicles in my yard and another neighbor's. For what it is worth the fifteen or so guys in the work crew did appear to work hard on what was a relatively warm day to be up on a roof. Another of my neighbors recently had their roof done by a different company and we share a driveway and from my perspective there were no issues although I believe my neighbors had an issue with the company that provided the dumpster for that job. read more
