This was never communicated to me. Also I needed to re-explain things to the people who came in to do the work. Frankly this just came across as deceptive. 2. They either lied about lead times or they straight up forgot to place my order and then lied about it. They said it would take six weeks it took 12. I actually checked in at 6 weeks and it sounded very clearly like they didn't have my order and then they backtracked. 3. The installers left a mess. This is the clincher for me... leave the place cleaner than you came. I ended up with extra holes in my ceiling, drywall dust and screws all over the floor. It was just unprofessional. All in all this was an expensive service and they were grumpy, rude and don't deserve my business (or yours frankly). 4. They installed an insulated door without seals with the shrug of -- well we just don't do that anymore. An insulated door without seals is pointless. Then don't install an insulated door. 5. They are a pain to deal with. No email just an answering service, it was just difficult to get clarification on things. So why three stars after all this... I have a door and it appears to be installed correctly. When you are spending these absurd prices for a garage door frankly I expect better service.

Recently, the door wouldn't stay open when it was halfway down and was very hard to lift when the power was out. One of the lift cables on the left side was also badly frayed and about to break. Zach replaced both springs and both cables, and now the garage door works like new again and closes smoothly and evenly. I highly recommend Santa Cruz Garage Doors and Zach for any garage door repair or maintenance.

He texted us updates on his timing and progress throughout the day, and unfortunately (mostly for him because of all the driving back and forth he had to do!) he had to come back to replace one of the panels the next day (to add windows) because of confusion with his supplier, but he got it done quickly. The brand new system he installed is working out great with the WiFi connectivity, camera, automatic lighting, and the whisper quiet door itself. We didn't get any other quotes but we're really happy with his work and our new set up. He's also very friendly and great to chat with. Highly recommend him and his crew!

I called the business and they actually arrived within a couple of hours with a new opener. They clearly explained why the opener failed and that spring and other elements needed tending to for it not to fail again. They were willing to fix those items on the spot as well, yet I knew I wanted to replace the door itself at some point, and they told me they can do that in a day! I took them up on the offer and they followed up with a quote and timeline. They came around the next morning, completed the work in the time stated, and did an utmost professional job, cleaning up well after it and taking the old door away. They certainly set a high bar for how I will expect other businesses to work from now on!

I would definitely recommend them to anyone needing a new garage door.

Tracy had promised that there would be no gaps around the new garage door. I had specifically requested that the door must NOT let in the damp or wind, as I use it all winter as a studio/workshop. Tracy promised that the new framing would make the door close flush and if not - weatherstripping would be installed. However after his workmen left, there is a long gap on one side of the door and the door has a loud pop/crack when raised or lowered. Also, Tracy did not tell me that he did not take credit cards and must be paid in cash PRIOR to our agreement. He also told me to write the check out to him instead of The Door Company. I was charged $3,441.00 and mailed a check made out to The Door Company for $3000. I told him that I would give him a check for the balance of $441.00 when the job was completed, as the weatherstripping was not done and there was a loud pop when door was opened or closed. He has responded to my emails with threats of legal action and sarcasm about the "supposed gaps" AND has refused to even come inspect the job. In his latest email, he wrote that he would not even discuss any complaints until I had paid the remaining $441 balance!!! Tracy has not and will not provide me with a list of Materials/Labor costs; Nor has he provided me with any warranties or guarantees. For those who are considering using this company, be warned.

He came on time and immediately began the swap. In took all but 2 hours and he even installed the extra rollers I had. If you're looking for reliable garage service in Gilroy, look no further than Mario Fortino. I originally called him for a clearance issue, but his thorough inspection caught a broken spring system that I hadn't noticed. It explained a lot of the 'heaviness' I was feeling with the door! Because I was in a rush to pick up my kiddos, Mario and his son teamed up to get the new roller system installed in record time. They were professional, honest about the pricing, and just all-around great guys to work with. The door operates perfectly now. I'm already planning on having them back to install a newer LiftMaster with a battery backup. Five stars for Fortino's Garage Service!
