After I got in an accident they towed my car to their business and wouldn't let me access my belongings inside without the registration that was in the car. They face no warning about needing the info when they came to pick up the car and I won't be able to access my belongings for several days because of this. I was in a bad accident on Friday and A1 Towing came to the scene and towed my vehicle approximately 2 miles. I went there on the same day to clean out my vehicle. They said you are releasing it to the insurance company and I said yes. They was no conversation about what happens if the insurance does not cover this. I do not have full coverage on the vehicle. I called them on Wednesday to find out if there is a fee or storage on my vehicle that has now been there 6 days because I was just informed by my insurance that they are not covering anything. They stated that I already owe $768, but if I give them my title and $50 by this Friday we can call it even. I do not even know how something like this is legal. Talk about highway robbery. It is bad enough that I was in an accident, I am injured, I just lost my car, now I have this company who I did not CHOOSE taking advantage of me. I also have AAA and if the officer at the scene had asked me I could have used that. I am in utter shock. To say I would NEVER recommend them is an understatement. Sad world. read more

The absolute worst in customer service. There are 2 ladies behind the counter with the personality of a doorknob. Neither one of them should be working there. One literally referred to a customer as a "douchebag." The other one was complaining because someone didn't say that they were BNI (or something like that). They answer the phone with no type of personality at all. You think I'm lying? Call them, you'll see for yourself. I stood there and they talked horribly about anyone who called in. The only nice person was the guy doing the towing. He was the only one with manners and respect. This place is the only towing company that Allentown Police deals with. Called for a tow from my home to the repair shop at 11:30AM on a Saturday. I DON'T was told that it would be about an hour and the the person responsible for the tow would call me 10 minutes prior. 3hrs later I call to inquire about the tow. I'm told that they had police calls that they had to take care of but would get to me sometime today. They could have called me to let me know that they were not going to be able to make the scheduled tow, so that I could make other arrangements before the repair shop closed for the day. read more

I have used A-1 for many years. I'm talking about back in the day when I was a trooper at the Bethlehem barracks. They were always on point with the towing. One time my patrol car need a jump at my home Zak came out and took care of it. Years later I needed a tow for my daughter's car to the dealer. These guys are the best. I moved from NH to PA. and my car got stuck on the tow dolly. When I sent them pictures they said we will come take care of you. Called for a jump start on 4/19, Amanda was very friendly & professional Steve the driver again friendly & informative...had trouble starting (not his fault my car), eventually it finally did start. Unfortunately after 90 minutes of running & driving my car would not start again. The person who was sent was fantastic! He was patient, kind, and accommodating. The only hiccup was when they called my insurance company on my behalf (which I did not request); this was the fault of the dispatcher. I needed to change my drop off location to my mechanic which was a few miles into NJ, past PA. The dispatcher told the person who was sent I had to pay out of pocket, because I only had 8 miles. They may have assumed it was AAA, but that's their fault and highly unprofessional to advise me on behalf of my insurance company. I asked the tower to wait for me and he did with no complaints! I called my insurance company and guess what? It was free! I didn't like the sending messages and attempt to advise me on my own insurance road assistance account, but other than that: WAY TO GO A-1! Only issue was waiting an hour for the tow truck to arrive. You know when your car doesn't run you just want someone to come ASAP. But the call was through AAA and they did inform me it may take up to an hour. Driver hooked up the car right away he did not dilly dally around. He was courteous and talkative. Had such a pleasant experience. Were stranded at Wells Fargo, all hope seemed to be lost when our tatted tow truck driver (whose name escapes me unfortunately) came to the rescue. He helped us figure out what we were going to & where the best place to tow it. Not all hero's wear capes, some tow your car. Broke down yesterday in the parking lot of the Westgate Mall. My truck would not start. Called my motorclub "Drive America" and the contacted A-1 at about 2:45 PM and was told 50 minutes. After numerous calls back and forth, and A1 promising 45 minutes that turned into 90 minutes, truck got there and hauled me to the garage at 4:45 PM. A1's Driver was friendly, did an excellent job of securing my truck to the rollback, and delivering both me and my truck to the repair garage and getting it into a spot on my repair garage's parking lot. Rollback was in top shape, also. I have seen A1 towing elsewhere. and other than it taking so long to get to me (thank goodness I wasn't in traffic & it wasn't freezing outside!) I was pleased with the service. Sounds to me they take more than they can handle and give un-realistic response times to get the business. If I had know how long, I could have gotten a ride home and left my vehicle for towing! Done that before! read more

Please do not use this towing company. I was in an accident on 8/6/15. I was taken from the accident to the hospital via ambulance. After finally getting the police report and getting ahold of the other person's ins company they sent me notification that they wouldn't pay storage fees after Friday 8/25/15. I took this paper with me and the receptionist told me I can have the car tomorrow if I pay the difference which was 8/31/15. On 9/1/15 I called to have them tow it to my house. The woman who answered the phone told me they would not release it. I called an attorney. He told me to call and talk to the manager or owner. When I called back and she got on the phone she told me the car was there for almost 30 days and they wouldn't release the car. Told me she had no documentation to say the ins company was going to pay for the storage. I told her I gave it to her yesterday and I would bring another copy down to her. She then said I will not release it until I have the money and while it sits here it is accuring fees. I said ok then keep the car. She said after 30 days she will report it to the state and I will lose my license and be fined $1500. The attorney told me they can't do that. Instead of taking the proof they will be paid and let me pay the difference, in my opinion, they just want to keep the car to make more money on people's misfortunes. They had the proof it would be paid by the insurance company!!! read more
