We are going to APD tomorrow and then contacting the state attorney General. They towed my vehicle from the lot by mary-anns donuts while we went to the parade! We had permission to park in that lot but they didn't care. $475 in cash to get my vehicle out. They said it had to be cash no cards. Who carries that much cash today? That is very excessive and I wonder who authorized them to tow vehicles from that lot. They could have towed anybody's vehicle. They said it was a tow away zone but the only tow away zone sign is for the fire lane! This is an absolute scam! Oh and like the others they would not provide a receipt or invoice. I had a terrible experience with Eddie's Emergency Tow. My party parked in what we thought was a reasonable spot while we ran into a store to pick up an order, but apparently, anything that's not an "obvious" parking space is considered "illegal" by the tow agent. We saw the tow truck arrive and immediately rushed outside, demanding the car be released. Unfortunately, our request was flatly denied. They ended up charging us $425 just to release the vehicle, and it had to be paid in cash. This is an inflated rate, especially during hard times when not everyone can easily pull out that kind of cash. It felt like they were taking advantage of the situation, and it was extremely frustrating. Make sure to park in clearly marked spaces--otherwise, be prepared for these shady practices. On 5/18/24, Eddie's Emergency Response Towing removed my car from the library lot shortly after I parked there after hours for a children's concert at the church across the street. I legitimately thought I could park there and am a regular library patron, but I understand I made a mistake. A bummer, but I was prepared to pay the fee and move on. When I called the number written in Sharpie on the library sign, I specifically asked if I could pick my car up the next day (Sunday) and was told yes and to call back later to schedule a pick up. I know I asked, because that's when my husband was coming back to town and I'd have a ride. The person also mentioned it would be $475, several hundred dollars more than other towing companies around Allentown. The Allentown Towing Company, for example, says that local tows cost between $75 and $125. After a friend gave me a ride home, someone called and repeatedly asked for my address. My husband was out of town and I didn't feel comfortable giving my address out without confirming it was Eddie's wanting to drop off my car. When I said this, the person said I was "burning time" and demanded I pay in cash to get my car back. This hadn't been mentioned on my first call. I said I didn't have $475 in cash, and asked if they'd take a check. The person barked "cash only" and said I had until 10pm to pick my car up or it would be an extra $75/day and that I couldn't pick my car up the next day. I asked the location of my car so I could go to an ATM nearby. They refused to tell me and said to call when I had cash in hand. When my friend and her husband gave me a ride to an ATM and I called, nobody answered. Worried I'd miss the 10pm deadline, I called until someone picked up and told us the address where my car was being stored (422 Lehigh St). My friends drove me to the lot, which was dark, unsecured, and unmarked. I've later researched and Pennsylvania Statutes Title 73 P.S. Trade and Commerce § 1971.3 states that towing companies must "post the towing fees and the storage and related service fees and hours of operation at the towing storage facility." Two people arrived in an unmarked minivan after my friend's husband and I stood waiting in the dark lot for around ten minutes. One of them threw open the door and yelled, "What's wrong with you?" The man proceeded to shout at us (I guess for calling too many times?) and refused to take my license from my hand, demanding my friend's husband give it to him. This felt sexist and humiliating. He said, to my friend's husband, "She's been calling me all afternoon, saying, 'I'm a single mom'" (which was a confusing and blatant lie. Was he mixing me up with someone else?). He then said, "I could make this $800 on Monday," threatening to keep my car. My friend's husband and I managed to diffuse the situation, but it was bizarre and alarming. The threat of increasing the price solidified to us how much of a scam this was. I'm not sure how this supposed "company" is still in business, but avoid them if at all possible, and be very careful where you park. They have an F rating on the Better Business Bureau, and the PA Attorney General is collecting information on towing scams across the state, including Eddie's. Tows cars within minutes not hours or days, charges up to 500 to get car back, I understand that's private property (liberty shopping center) but most of their business comes from residents, I went up to get my MIL prescription to drop it off at CVS, I was gone for 15-20 mins and my car was gone. he's a no good man. They run a shady company where they park in the street and wait for you to just cross the street for 30 seconds and hook your car up. They charge a 425 dollar drop fee and 480 at their trashy ghetto lot. They drove off on me after saying call the number on the sign and one is that not only illegal but they must state there location of where your car will be at the time of your car getting towed. Also once they tow your car and tell you you're able to get your car back they won't pick up the phone until you blow it up or send a bunch of messages. He also was refusing/stalling to give me the address of where to pick my car up at which is again also illegal. Eddie's towing was very professional & understanding.. he's not out to get your money & it brings him no joy to have to tow your car.. he is a great man.. he released my car to me on a Sunday evening & didn't charge outrageous fees.. No other tow truck company gives your car asap because they want your $$$.. Not Eddie's. he went out of his way to get my much needed vehicle back to me & didn't charge an arm & a leg..
