This is a small family owned business. The staff was friendly and helpful with every encounter. I called ahead and got all of the information on how to bring in the mower, where to drop it off, how long the process took. Once I dropped off the mower, I received a ticket and instructions that I would be called with an estimate on how much the repair would cost. I received a call maybe a week later, which was around the estimated timeframe that they gave, and the price was reasonable ($130 for a push mower). I agreed to the estimate and my mower was ready the next day. I used the mower the day I picked it up. It worked well no issues, and they even washed the mower. I am a clueless senior woman who could not figure out how to replace a spring on my edger, at my first stop, a friendly man sent me to A-1, with a very positive "If anyone can help you, it would be A-1", and away I went with high hopes, (otherwise I would have to invest in a new edger). Rick was there, engaged with other cusomers, and noticed me waiting, waved me over, and though I did not have a brand that he sells, he stopped everything seeing it as an easy fix. You will not find that kind of customer service anywhere today. He immediately went to work and witin 5 minutes, had the part installed, and the line rethreaded, and insisted it was a service he was happy to help me with, and sent me on my way. His kindness brought tears to my eyes, it is sad to say that many people would have taken advantage of this woman, and I would have been charged an unfair rate, but Rick is honest, very successful, highly knowledgable, and does not need to take advantage of anyone, his reputation is stellar. I took some of his cards, and will pass out to anyone who values trust, fairness, and skill. I only write reviews if I can honestly report the best of the best. If possible, I would give this place negative STARS. I had an issue with my lawnmower that needed to be addressed. Within a 3 week timeframe of calling to check the status, I was given the run around that it was carborator, or the fuel line or oil, etc....but that it was fixed and everything was either replaced for $150.00+. After taking it home and bringing it back 3 times, I finally gave up. I was then presented on 'Q', another lawnmower for $80 with a new carborator as well. It was tested and ready to go.....then I had issues with that once I used it at the house. After several times of showing up, calling, and showing up some more, I was given excuse after excuse. The taller gentlemen, couldn't even speak in complete sentences to communicate what was wrong with the lawnmower or a time-frame it would be ready, much less remember what he sold me. All transactions or kept on sticky notes, and the other gentlemen who fixed it, would get in his truck and drive of 3 of few times I showed up. EXTREMELY UNPROFESSIONAL. They will say they are an auto mechanic establishment, but then do not state you fix lawnmowers and waste peoples time. Please do attend this establishment or finance them in anyway unless you want 0 service and 0 quality work. read more

Friendly, courteous service - the owner was able to find my part (which was not immediately evident, it was based on his recommendation and apparent knowledge/familiarity that I ended up with the right solution). He saved me the time and even a few bucks over ordering the alternative from an online vendor. It's always great to find a local shop that has what you need to get things running again right there on the shelf. I brought my mower in for a spring special (~$35). I received a call from this business stating that my mower wasn't working and needed $180+ in repairs. Since my mower was running when I took it in, I knew something was amiss. Went back and took possession of my mower (had to pay a $16 estimate fee). Took my mower home. Put gas in it and proceed to mow my yard. Draw your own conclusion. read more

These guys are the shop for Sears warranty. Do NOT blame them for Sears' poor customer service or warranty!!! Sears is stupid, these guys are not. Even though I had trouble with my mower, they resolved my problem for less than $50! I can't complain. I will come back because they do know their stuff. They even took the time to explain fuel additives that will prolong the life of the mower and fuel system. If you are mad at Sears, take it out on Sears!!! read more

This should be a negative stars. They are horrible with service. I left my lawn mower there to be serviced only because they do all the Sears warranty work. It took 4 weeks to have it repaired and it is not repaired correctly. I asked to have a tune up done while they had it for 4 weeks and they did not do the tune up. Asked why and the excuse was it was not covered under warranty. Called Sear after all is said and done and tune up is covered under the warranty program. I refuse to take it back for another 4 weeks for the tune up. They also do not answer their phones. I would save your time and money and take it somewhere else. read more

I've dealt with Rick for years. We moved to Austin a few years ago and tried to find a competent small engine shop. I never could. A1 is so good that I decided to drive 90 miles one way to keep dealing with A-1. I had a Stijl chainsaw that I took to three different repair shops in marble falls and Austin after we moved. The saw cost $300. The repairs that didn't fix the saw totaled another $350. Rick couldn't fix the saw either. The difference was that he wouldn't charge me to not fix it. I also buy anything from them that I can from them. Their prices on equipment are fair and I'd rather drive the 90 miles once than anywhere else 2 or 3 times for someone else to get service done right. A-1 gets it right the first time. I can't imagine what happened that warranted a 1 star rating from Cheryl. I would think that someone who deals with sears on a daily basis about warranty issues probably knows what's covered with their warranty better than someone answering the phone in India. I also have to expect that A-1 and Sears have an agreement that from my experience, at least Rick would live by. read more
