I called Mitchell and Patrick at Pool Side Leak Detection. They came out within a week with a big trailer full of equipment to see what was going on with my pool. I hung out with the crew as they went from jet to jet, drain to drain, and carefully and diligently checked out every pipe, and every light to get to the bottom of the problem. I was super impressed when they brought out an underwater microphone to listen for drips. As they worked, they explained good pool practices, maintenance tips, they told me what they were doing, their line of reasoning for what they're doing. They answered all my crazy pool questions with a smile. I really appreciated the tutorials and info on the pool. In all, they had to break out the scuba equipment to find the leak- it was in the underwater light! They got in there with some 'bubblegum' and fixed it right up so it's watertight. It was a great value to have them out and saved me lots of money with otherwise having to search for the leak, which I'd have never found. They were upfront about expectations, pricing, and how they work. I am new to pools, so I really appreciated the crash course in pool mechanics and maintenance. He came over within 2 days with all of his equipment. Pin pointed the leak. Repaired it. The concrete had to be jackhammered. When it was all said and done I could barely tell where the work had been done. Put all day 1 chemicals in it, day two Wednesday put second day chemical and by early evening we were sitting relaxing in the tub. It wouldn't keep the heat, never got hotter than 95, the Max is 104° We understand it takes time initially to heat the tub to max. Thursday we didn't get in, nor Friday, however, I did go out to test water temp and it was cold. It never heated. I tried to start the heat again, and the control panel would NOT work. Nothing came on, no lights, nothing. My husband texted our salesperson and I called the store. Apparently, our sales guy was busy with another customer. We got a call shortly after from the tech guy I guess. He asked if we reset, explained my husband had already done that AND checked the brackers AND tested the outlet with hair dryer. Still, nothing. correction hair dryer came on NOT tub. Then a woman called to set up a repair appointment, Monday is the soonest she said, ok find. Hung up, she called again. Apologized. And said Tuesday actually because she only had one repair guy. I'm FURIOUS at this point. Almost $6000.00 hot tub and nearing three month wait and NOW this. It's bullshit and we won't be back to this store to do anymore shopping. VERY VERY Disappointing! Oh ps.... upon delivery they forgot our steps and said they were on back order but I went to store second day, and our sales guy told us they had excess supply and didn't understand why they didn't bring it. My family did a wet test and sad to say we kicked out so much water i was very embarrassed, we laughed and stored laughed but still felt bad. We finally purchased from this store. We did have 1 hiccup on delivery but after i called the Family Leisure store, made it right and sent the Manager out to help install. First, there was confusion regarding the spa system. The contract explicitly specified a blower, yet I was repeatedly told it was a venturi system. I had to repeatedly defend and re-explain my own contract until they finally confirmed what was already documented. HOA submission guidance was also contradictory. I was initially told to reject incorrect materials, but later informed that "generic" selections would be used to gain approval. This raises serious concerns about their process, and I believe HOAs in the San Antonio area would be interested to know this approach may be used. Second, project coordination was inadequate. I had to repeatedly remind staff about irrigation sleeves under the patio, which would have been missed without my involvement. The concrete subcontractor was unaware. While I was told it was "documented," it clearly was not communicated to the field. Anything beyond a basic scope required constant oversight from me. Third, design changes were poorly handled. Adding steps was discussed early but deferred. When included via change order, the drawings were incorrect, resulting in an unsafe step height. Even when sub-contractor flagged it before the pour, no action was taken. When I raised concerns that evening, responses were delayed and dismissive, including unprofessional communication. Fourth, the spa masonry work is unacceptable. While the stone was fine, the top caps and waterfall tile were inconsistently installed, leaving large gaps and visible caulking. When I asked if the caulk line could be reduced, the mason began to agree but was interrupted by the owner, who insisted it was "standard." Corrections were later acknowledged, but the proposed fix exposed further errors. I agreed to a quoted change order, but the final price was increased. There was no accountability or effort to honor the original price. Fifth, site management and closeout were poor. Multiple requests were required to remove debris, leaving my yard in unacceptable condition, resembling a gravel pit. The pool was also turned over dirty despite repeated requests to clean it before pool school. Finally, I was concerned by the company's conduct outside the project. After anonymously seeking advice online, the owner inserted himself into the discussion and attempted to control the narrative despite not being identified. Overall, this project showed a pattern of deflection, poor communication, substandard work, and lack of ownership. I strongly recommend others proceed with caution. Update to Staycation Response: Kelley argued rather than reading the contract-poorly handled. The HOA concern is not misleading, and I did not request anything on a rushed timeline. You deceive HOAs to get approval. Claims that I requested extra work "during" construction are false; I discussed a Phase 2 patio/sidewalk after completion, and with you as well. I never berated anyone over $100, and all change orders were paid in full as shown. I have documented evidence (I'll post), including time-stamped photos (today), supporting all my statements and showing final conditions. I never threatened with a 1-star review for no-cost. Documented evidence shows how you handled this gave you a 5 to 1. You fabricate, lie and misrepresent to discredit me.
