9Round has been a life changing experience for me! I've always been a fitness enthusiast with fair amount of experience with weight lifting, Tabata training & basketball. I've been an avid gym go-er at 24 Hour Fitness for about 8 years & never saw consistent results. I'd be in the gym for a hour with no game plan in mind, and mindlessly workout a muscle group whenever the machines or weight benches were available. With most of the treadmills & spaces being were used, it was hard to do any type of cardio, as well. I joined during June 2019, (2 months to writing this review) & lost 20 lbs (& counting...) while maintaining lean muscle. I'm getting married next April & I'm looking to be the best version of myself! With 9Round, I learn something new every single day & my fitness plateaus have been constantly shattered. Literally all the trainers are motivating and they teach you how to improve on every aspect of kickboxing. From your footwork, learning how to punch/kick effectively to working on the pad work; this workout is guaranteed to make you sweat. Shout-out to Tohua, Nick, Joaquin, Hazel, Alex & Justin for being dope trainers. Also, to Keba for being an awesome 9Round owner. They all recognize you by your name, every time. If you are wondering how 9 Round works; it's a 3 minute workout of minimum of 9 round circuit, with a 30 second active rest in the between. Each round is a different exercise. By round 3 through 6 is when the real fun starts & you put on your gloves. In between those rounds, trainers will pull you out and take you out for pad work. These are the rounds that will make you or break you because they are the most calorie burning zones. Also, in addition; each week there's a weekly challenge amongst members called the "CHOW" which is the "challenge of the week." This is a great opportunity to challenge other members. FYI: For newcomers, you're first workout is free & you're given loaner gloves to protect your hands. If you do decide to join, the community here is great! I've been going to 9Round Natomas since 2018 and it's been an amazing experience through & through. The trainers are great and motivating, they're super helpful and push you to your limits. I've seen great results with the workouts. I love how every round has specific workouts, and they switch daily so you're not doing the same thing every day. Love this place! You'll usually find my wife and here several times a week. A few things really stand out! 1. Variety - Different exercises every day at each station to keep things interesting. 2. The Trainers - Excellent, knowledgeable, motivating and friendly. They will quickly become like an extended family. They'll also work with you to vary exercises to suit your fitness level or target specific needs. Want some extra abs work? They'll have you sweating and cursing - in a good way. 3. The Challenges - There's always a Challenge Of The Week - an exercise you'll repeat each day and track your results, pushing you to exceed your previous numbers every time. They also have "contests" now and then. Sometimes as an individual, sometimes as a group. It could be completing tasks on a Bingo card over the course of a week (complète 4 workouts, stay in your target heart rate zone for at least half your workout, complète 3 minutes of burpees, etc...) or the team that stays in their target heart rate zone the longest at each workout. There's always something to keep things interesting and challenging. Plus something special for your birthday! 4. The Community - You'll quickly make friends and push each other. I can't say enough good things about this gym. I was struggling balancing working full time, being a great mom and finding time for me. I gave 9round a try because I liked the concept of 30 minutes, no class times with a focus on kickboxing since I had previously done martial arts before kids. I can't believe I have followed through and consistently go 3 times a week as well as look forward to when I can go again. All the trainers put you at ease and challenge you to push harder at the same time. I love seeing the changes in my body, fitter, leaner and no longer thinking about having to buy the next size up, but soon can start to think about buying the next size down. Kickboxing shouldn't intimidate anyone as the trainers take time to show you the exercises and will modify as needed which is one of the reasons that the people who go there are such a diverse group of people in all sizes, fitness level and age. No one feels like they don't belong there. Everyone should give it a try and the first time is free. :) read more

I have been going to 9Round for about 3 months, Keba is always up & encouraging. If you have a problem, there are plenty of awesome staff to help. Your heart is monitored the whole time and a summary of your exercise is emailed shortly after you leave 9Round. Forgot your water! Not a problem! There are 8-oz bottles of water at no charge, larger water bottles & Gatorade available for sale. I love improving my physical health through the kickboxing and positive atmosphere. read more

I just received an email stating I had just completed my 150th workout so it reminded me to leave a way over due review of the place I call my gym home. There's such a great atmosphere the moment you walk in, you are greeted with a smile and by name! That is huge for me. Keba (the owner) is amazing and her staff is a reflection of her. This is a something for everyONE everyBODY type of gym. I go in and literally do feel stronger both mentally and physically every time a work out. There is something not only about working out, but boxing in particular that is just so therapeutic, I highly encourage anyone at any fitness level to try it out. When I came in for my first workout I was nervous and wasn't quite sure what to expect, I wasn't even sure I could do something like this. Upon walking into the gym I was greeted by the owner, Keba, her calm and friendly demeanor quickly eased my nervousness and she reassured me very confidently that this is something I can definitely do! By the end of that work out I was sold and had Keba sign me up! All the trainers have been amazing to work with they guide you and push you without over intimidating you, this was very important to me since I've always gotten anxious working out with new people. Their motivation and upbeat personalities help get you through a very challenging 30 minutes! I love the fact that they know who you are and greet you as soon as you walk in the door and when you leave they make sure to let you know how you did and say goodbye no matter how busy it gets. There are no set workout times so you know as soon as you walk in the door and you are ready to go they will get you on the floor and working out the next available round! Even on days that I don't feel like going I tell myself it's only 30 minutes and I force myself to go and not once have I ever regretted it. And Hey! If 30 minutes isn't enough for you you can go another 30!!!! Great stress reliever and it definitely boosts your confidence and moral! I have been going to 9round since they have opened in October, and I have no regrets . Keba and her staff are awesome and are always friendly and motivating. From the very beginning I felt welcomed from both the staff, and the other members. 9round is a great workout that gets you moving and sweating in a fun and encouraging environment. 9round is a kickboxing circuit training workout consisting of (wait for it...) 9rounds of three minutes each, combining cardio, strength, kickboxing and core work, with 30 seconds of active recovery in between each round. There is always a trainer on the floor explaining and demonstrating the moves, so you don't feel lost. To keep things new and to work your body in different ways to avoid workout boredom the trainers mix it up by incorporating pad work (punching and kicking) with you on some rounds, and the workouts change every day. Another optional tool that they offer is a heart monitoring system that keeps track of your heart rate and displays what "zones" you are in on a monitor in the gym. This gives an easy visual to know when you should dial it back a little as to not overwork your heart, stay in the fat burning zones , and not burn off any muscle. At the end of your workout you get an email with your stats (calorie burn, times in different zones, max heart rate, average heart rate). They are also recorded on your online account and you can see your progress as time goes on. It is an additional price for the monitor, but I highly recommend it. In addition to being a great workout, as a member of 9round you also get nutritional coaching online, where you can get meal plans, numerous articles and videos to help with your health goals. One of most helpful features is the Nutrition Forum where you can submit questions to a sports nutrition specialist/coach regarding your specific health concerns, diet, workout, schedule, etc. and he answers them in about 24 hours. The big selling point for me, in my mind, was the fact that 9round does not have any class times. As long as they are open, you can workout (last workout starts 30 min prior to the posted closing time). Having that flexibility, especially when trying to balance family schedules, work and whatever else life throws at you, is awesome. And realistically, it's 30 min. You can find 30 min. If you are motivated enough and have the time, go around again, they will change it up for you. Overall I would definitely recommend 9round for anybody wanting to better their health and get a great workout in a non-intimidating environment. I LOVE this gym. It was first brought to my attention when a friend of mine gave me a flyer and set me on the path. I had wanted to try kickboxing for awhile and this seemed like a perfect baby step toward that end, even better, the first round was free. I went for my first round and though the workout almost killed me, I was sold. I went back the next day and signed up for a full year. As hard as that first session was the successive workouts have been even more intense. Though I still die a little every day I go in, my strength and stamina have improved far beyond what I believed myself capable of. 30 minutes for a full body work out where at least 2 trainers (and as many as 4 during high traffic times) are on the floor with you; showing you the exercises, giving you motivation to keep going and helping you with modifications if some moves are beyond your current capabilities is amazing. I have been a member of several conventional gyms that, even when supplimented with personal training, did not get me half as far as I have come in both my physical and mental strength after just 4 months as a member. I could not recommend and commend this gym and the people who run it more. Oh! and MAJOR shout outs to all of the trainers: Keba (the owner) Tomas, Moses, Ivan, Chris, Maurice and Mike. They are all extremely dedicated and knowledgeable. When you come in for a round know you will be greeted by name with a smile. I just did a free trial and I can't wait to sign up! The biggest selling point for me is that you can walk in any time and get started on a circuit- no stress over running late to class or missing a workout because you couldn't fit a class time in. On top of that a 30 minute workout had me sweating hard and I think you can do longer workouts which I would definitely be interested in! I've been a member for a year and a half, and I still love it. I've never said THAT about a gym before, but 9Round is no ordinary gym. Cardio and strength training. . .all in just 30 minutes. Keba and her trainers are the best. They can accommodate any fitness level. I love that a beginner can be working alongside an accomplished athlete, and both get a great workout. Even better is that everyone -- trainers and members alike -- is so supportive of each other. Show up when they're open and jump right in. No set class times is the best idea ever. Don't be intimidated by the idea of "kickboxing." You're not in a ring sparring. This is 3-minute rounds at 9 stations. . . It's circuit training to the Nth degree. I tell EVERYONE about this place. So I went there free trial workout and although I felt the workout was very challenging and I got a good sweat in, there was a trainer there who made me feel really uncomfortable! He made a few comments and was starting at me the whole time! I already was feel very vulnerable due to it being my first time there and he just made it much worse! I decided to just let it be and try a new place to workout! I had moved on and kept going with my life and then about 3 weeks later I began getting there marketing calls. I had just ignored them and thought they would eventually stop ! They kept coming and even called about 8 times a day ! So one day I received a text and so I responded and asked them to stop contacting me! The representative from their company continued to call me at least 10 times in 24 Hours! Like stop harassing patrons of your business! I really don't understand why they don't understand i don't want to come back! read more

I've been going for about 3 1/2 months now. My work schedule only allows for early morning workouts so the 30 minutes are perfect and with the intensity I've already noticed results in muscle mass going 2-3 times a week. On the off days they aren't open early I'm starting to run again for 30 minutes and it's a nice complement. Love the staff, the variety in work outs and other members. I attended 9 Round Natomas for about 2 years​ until I recently moved away. I'm an avid boxer and don't train anymore but was able to get my "fix" in here. I love that I start the moment I walk-in to the gym, no class times gives more flexibility​ in my gym schedule-- this is so key when you have a crazy work life and kid. The hours are great and it's really nice that I can do my workout whenever I want (during open hours, of course), get my chores done on my own schedule. The concept of this gym is great and the scheduling is awesome. You can drop in anytime they are open and get your workout done. You can do one series for a solid 30 minute workout or do it twice for an extra challenge. The workout was fun, but I didn't find it exceptionally interesting. It looked like they had more challenging options for the "regulars", but they put me through the newbie series (which I understand). So there may be more than meets the eye on your first visit. Mike and Chris seemed knowledgeable but not over-bearing. As a fitness professional however, I was surprised that they do not have you warm-up first and do not lead any kind of stretching at all. It's pretty hard-core movement to not have guided/suggested stretches coinciding with the workout. Also, I was modifying some things for myself, which the coaches didn't seem to appreciate. They had me fill out a waiver in which I noted my injury, but they never even looked at it, so they didn't know why I was modifying. That didn't make me feel especially trusting of the coaching. Overall, the workout is fun and easy to fit in a busy lifestyle and the people we're nice (a good sense of "community"), but I wouldn't pay $70-100/month for it. read more

He let us jump right in with the group already working & him & Moses were good & thorough in explaining what we had to do. I've only been three times but I absolutely LOVE it. If you are someone that isn't super gung-ho & needs a push, this is the place for you. If you don't want to be in a gym for an hour or more roaming around because you're not quite sure what would be the best thing to do to get a good workout, this is your place! If you want the most bang for your buck & time, this is it. I have belonged to a few different gyms in Sac but so far, this is my favorite. Everyone here is very knowledgeable, encouraging, helpful & friendly. It's a 30-minute kickboxing-themed interval workout. And believe me, I haven't walked out the door wondering if I really just wasted my time. There are at least 2 trainers there at all times to explain all the stations, show you how to do everything correctly & also jump in on different stations for one-on-one training. The 1st workout is free so you really can't lose. I was a little intimidated BEFORE I went in because I've never done any boxing. Turns out I was worried for no reason because of all the support here. When you actually sign up, they give you everything you need, including a heart monitor that displays on a tv screen & is color coded to make it simple & to allow you & the staff to see how the workout is going.They also offer nutrition help online plus the trainers also have great suggestions. Amazing, I actually look forward to coming here lol. The other big draw was the fact that there are no set class times. You just walk in during business hours & they put you to work. While I really liked classes at the other gym I went to, they didn't have them at convenient times for my strange work hours. read more
