    My favorite spicy sauce
    Michael B.

A good Asian supermarket conveniently located near De Anza College, so it's easily accessible from anywhere within the South Bay. And also, because of the Cupertino School District, the demographics consists of mostly Asian decent so this particular store tends to stock items not available at other Ranch 99 locations. It's also very clean & employees are quite courteous and helpful, so this would be my go-to place for any Asian groceries.

Old rundown parking lot with potholes and speed bumps not marked
    Kay O.

This particular ranch 99 has a very old field to it. Some of the stores have been updated but the parking lot has huge potholes and random speed bumps that are not marked/Painted so be careful if you are using any equipment to help you walk. People in the parking lot seem to get rather irritated with the potholes and drive carelessly into your lane to avoid them, at the same time driving incredibly close to you and where you're walking. Once in the store it was incredibly cold, so with the 85° weather outside and me wearing a tank top inside, I started coughing abruptly. Lol at least I had my mascon. Masks are not required, just recommend it. Everything at the store was fine and very organized granted The cashiers were very slow at checking out my one item, yellow curry. Lol perhaps I was just in a hurry since I only had a 30 minute break.

    Moldy ramen for 5.49$

So many expired things in this store. You have to check twice for the expiration date. I bought some refrigerated ramen on yesterday. I just realized today there are molds in them.

Counterfeit.  The owner in Hong Kong has clarified that his mom & pop shop has NOTHING to do with this copycat
    Otto L.

Why would Ranch 99 carry counterfeit goods? The owner in Hong Kong declared that he had no relations to such products from China. They use the same name, same style, but with inferior products. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=beZcePDHFvU No Eng sub. :(

One of the more popular 99 Ranch Markets in Silicon Valley. I basically come here to buy all my Taiwanese / HK food products. On a few occasions my wife has purchased some of the seafood and red meat which ranged from mediocre to good quality. The live seafood is in the upper left corner. You can tell a lot about the quality of seafood by taking note of how the seawater tanks are managed. From my first impression they are pretty clean. Produce is plentiful with all your usual Chinese vegetables. I am very curious about the BBQ stand and will try it as I become more familiar with this area. Also note that you get coupons for purchases at the $50 and $70 range (specifics to come), including coupons at the BBQ stand. More on that later.

The produce section was not as extensive as those at other Asian markets, but it was still adequate. However, the store carried many unique candies and snacks that I have not seen elsewhere. Notably, sakura flavored products were especially common during my visit. There were two large sections dedicated to premade meals, including rice bowls, hand rolls, onigiri, and sushi. The rolls seemed overly heavy on the rice, with relatively little fish filling. The prices also felt somewhat high for the portion sizes. However, the store offers a 20 percent discount on sushi and bento boxes daily after 6 PM. I ordered the nigiri combination, which included salmon, tuna, and scallop. The scallop was plump, and the tuna was sliced thickly. The salmon was slightly thin but still rich and fatty. Overall, the fish quality was good. The sushi rice was above average, with a distinct vinegar flavor despite being refrigerated. The total cost for the eight pieces was close to restaurant pricing, though the convenience factor partly justified it. I would rate this market a 3.5 out of 5 but rounded up for the good sushi rice. I would recommend shopping elsewhere for produce, but this is a good place for snacks and premade meals, especially after 6 PM.

Almost anything you could possibly think of can be found, or freshly cut to order. Just as you're walking around, there's small areas where you might find fresh noodles, or some definite, unique food finds like fresh tteokbokki. Yes I needed to buy this! They have an entire beauty section that's filled with the variety of products, many of them overpriced, but also hard to find in the average marketplace. The fresh fruit area is small, but abundant. This is definitely worth a visit, if nothing more than the experience. You will find some amazing and unique items that are usually only found abroad.

The rewards system is essentially a 1% cash back at a 1000pt cliff -- meaning you get $10 after you spend $1000 but no redemptions before that. Being a member also doesn't get you any additional discounts vs non-members. But hey it's free so it doesn't hurt. I'll always support there being more Asian grocery stores in the West Side of the South Bay. H-Mart always had that spot for me, but now it's shared. Mega Mart's marketed as a more premium store, but it does its best when they're running sales. Price between the two are pretty neck and neck. You'll spend anywhere from $70-$200 per trip cuz the small things do add up. They used to have prepped food marked off anywhere from 30-70% off in the final and early hours of the day. Now, it's an inconsistent luck of the draw. However, I've never had an issue with food quality with anything I've purchased whether it be prepped food or raw ingredients. 4/5, solid store. The first time it was good, but the second time, the taste was off. They used to have really good seasoned vegan crispy tofu bites in the frozen section. I can't remember the brand, but I haven't seen them in a while, so maybe they didn't have enough interest to keep them in stock? The line can get pretty long sometimes, but it usually moves quickly. There's plenty of parking, but I've noticed that most customers park poorly (not within the lines), so it can be a bit tricky to find a good spot. I'd probably come here more often if they had a better vegan / plant-based selection.
