Quality/Quantity - This was my 1 star 99 Ranch Market, actually because of them, I STOPPED becoming a customer. I only shop with the brand when I do not have another option. Over 23 years ago, I tried to do an exchange with a bag of rice that had bugs in it. The manager refused. So I wrote to the district manager. I gave them my credit card # so they can look up how much $$ we spend with them, and I shared that I did NOT want a refund but only an exchange. They refused again. That was the last time I shopped here until today. And I only came today because I wanted another beer, and was too lazy to go out of my way to 7/11. Tried the Haidilao Beer today, and it was way better than I expected. My wife told me that it was a Chinese beer. Nice to see the Chinese get into the craft beer business, industry. Atmosphere - Consistent. Parking is a challenge, too many poor drivers. And in their defense, I am not sure if the parking lot is user friendly??? Tight spaces, tight aisles, etc. Open 7 days a week from 8am to 10pm. Service - Okay. Price - Above average, but I did not care today. Owner Comment - Congrats on your success since 1984 with your 54 locations. Again, if it was NOT for this one location, I would probably be a regular customer. I believe you are also a franchise system...? Just reading your online Refund & Returns/Exchange policy says it all........ Not customer focused at all.

This 99 ranch location is very convenient, right off 280 & Wolf. However, this location is an older location, store is also very small comparing to other locations. There's only two isles of frozen freezers ranch available and frozen stuff are limited compared to other locations. In addition, some of the item prices are slightly higher. For example, the live crabs at this location I purchased was $5.99/lb, the same product at SJ Hostetter was $4.99/lb. I don't understand, they are a chain, their prices are very different. This location is also busy all the time. Isles are very narrow, I have hard time getting by with two carts. But I like their deli here, seems like they have a couple of items that they don't have elsewhere. This is one of the reason I like to come here. I hope they will remodel sometime soon in the near future.

Roast hairy salty duck

I was told that the roast duck at this location is good, so I gave it a try. Unexpectedly this roast duck was extremely salty!! We barely ate this duck not only it's way too salty but also hairy. I'm not coming back.

I came in at 8 pm and it was so empty. Of course, the deli, bakery, and fish & meat department were closed. Nobody working them. But the store was wide open! They close at 10 pm. I was able to find my Thai tea mix and $80+ of groceries while walking up and down all the aisles on a Tuesday night. I'll have to come back to spend my deli dollars which is double on week day shopping, $2 for every $25. Super nice with no crowds. Last time I shopped on a weekend, every cashier line went half way down the aisles and near Thanksgiving, it wrapped around the aisle. So, I was very happy it wasn't crowded.

What a great store! Lots of live seafood, fresh vegetables, fresh fruits, wide selection of meats, canned goods, dry noodles, and a variety of Taiwanese snacks. Large parking lot makes it easy to find parking, and fast and efficient check-out service. One of the better 99 Ranch stores!!

Parking here is pretty decent. Lots of carts but seems old, worn out and/or rusty. Ended up taking a cart with a loose wheel that spun continuously and made the loudest noise as I wheeled it down the aisles. I made it that far already, I didn't bother replacing it. I thought about it though.. Food here is well stocked and I was able to get majority of the things I came for. They seemed to have a glitch in their system.. they were about to charge me $42 for a 6-pack of coco rico soda. Shout out for Andrew who caught it and corrected it.

This 99 Ranch Market has been at this corner of Homestead and Wolfe for many decades. I used to come here with my parents. Now, I come for quick grabs. Not sure why all aisles were so narrow. Once someone standing in an aisle, there isn't anything space to walk pass them. The hot deli section really needs some TLC. I understand the staff shortage causing self serve meal combo. People just piling up the food in the takeout box. All menu prices were covered up. I felt rushed shopping here. However, there are plenty of parking spots.

Pork bao has mushy breading and stale meat

Do not buy these items at their hot food counter. They are terrible beyond words. Last time I posted about their moldy castella cake and thry contacted me saying they would check on their baking goods. Yet, they continue to serve terrible food here. For a multi-million dollars chain supermarket, they sure lack quality control and integrity! How can they sell people such awful foods?? The char siu bao had mushy bread in some places and old tasting meat filling. Oddly, some spots were extremely dry at the same time. The vegetables bao had extremely dry skin outside, dry bread and weird mushy vegetables inside. The vegetables Eggroll had mushy filling, with very little inside and hard greasy uwrapping outside. I'm disgusted that they would sell this to unsuspecting customers who doesn't know any better about how these food should taste like. I happen to know and the entire box was chucked into the garbage after I tried a bite of each and couldn't swallow them. I tossed 1 char siu bao, 3 Vegetables and 4 eggrolls away. I also spit out whatever I bit into as well. That tells you how gross these were.

The produce section was not as extensive as those at other Asian markets, but it was still adequate. However, the store carried many unique candies and snacks that I have not seen elsewhere. Notably, sakura flavored products were especially common during my visit. There were two large sections dedicated to premade meals, including rice bowls, hand rolls, onigiri, and sushi. The rolls seemed overly heavy on the rice, with relatively little fish filling. The prices also felt somewhat high for the portion sizes. However, the store offers a 20 percent discount on sushi and bento boxes daily after 6 PM. I ordered the nigiri combination, which included salmon, tuna, and scallop. The scallop was plump, and the tuna was sliced thickly. The salmon was slightly thin but still rich and fatty. Overall, the fish quality was good. The sushi rice was above average, with a distinct vinegar flavor despite being refrigerated. The total cost for the eight pieces was close to restaurant pricing, though the convenience factor partly justified it. I would rate this market a 3.5 out of 5 but rounded up for the good sushi rice. I would recommend shopping elsewhere for produce, but this is a good place for snacks and premade meals, especially after 6 PM.

The shopping experience collectively is rather odd. The entire store is very dimly lit and it's a strange experience. At first, it feels like an upscale food court, filled with upscale large kiosk throughout the store. They have an amazing Sushi counter, and amazing meat counter. Almost anything you could possibly think of can be found, or freshly cut to order. Just as you're walking around, there's small areas where you might find fresh noodles, or some definite, unique food finds like fresh tteokbokki. Yes I needed to buy this! They have an entire beauty section that's filled with the variety of products, many of them overpriced, but also hard to find in the average marketplace. The fresh fruit area is small, but abundant. This is definitely worth a visit, if nothing more than the experience. You will find some amazing and unique items that are usually only found abroad.

I'll always support there being more Asian grocery stores in the West Side of the South Bay. H-Mart always had that spot for me, but now it's shared. Mega Mart's marketed as a more premium store, but it does its best when they're running sales. Price between the two are pretty neck and neck. You'll spend anywhere from $70-$200 per trip cuz the small things do add up. They used to have prepped food marked off anywhere from 30-70% off in the final and early hours of the day. Now, it's an inconsistent luck of the draw. However, I've never had an issue with food quality with anything I've purchased whether it be prepped food or raw ingredients. 4/5, solid store. Hope they continue to grow and thrive as a mainstay of the community.
