It used to be one of the best market in town. Now it is one of the worst market. Amazing high price, not a lot of products. And it just got a kind of bad smell or odor when you stepped in to this market. We are looking to buy some live lobster or fish. But most of them look like they are dead in the tank. And other shellfish seafood look pretty disgusting as well. Workers are pretty mean as well, they were blocking a lot of corridor to load goods. I'm on a mission to gather ingredients for Vietnamese pandan cake & needed coconut cream, rice flour & tapioca starch, of course pandan extract/color-- is NOT here unfortunately. Might find it at a Filipino market like Seafood City, but Target or Walmart might have it according to google. This location looks a bit more dated but it's fair to say it has my usual necessities (& prefer it over to the one at the mall). Price-wise, it's about on par with other Asian markets in Arcadia. I always come here to restock on mixed fish balls and hot pot items. I couldn't find their nem nuong but they freeze there's and their fresh noodles were not near the refrigerated noodles which I missed. They also didn't have numbers to order meat or seafood so everyone is just crowding around for their turn. Wish it was more organized at this location. Customers here are not very friendly too. Today 12/23/2025 around 1130-1145am The market was busy, every cashier has long line. A China lady walking with 2 tray of sushi/ California roll, saying too many people, walked up to the customer service counter( next to express line). People are patiently waiting for their turn to check out.. the lady say something in mainland mandarin.. then the cashier took her while we all waiting to be called.. I was 1 of them waiting, my turn has just came, I saw the whole thing while very pissed off.. This review is for the hot deli area of 99 Ranch in Arcadia. Not sure if it's gatekeeping but the Run Bings at 99 Ranch are a great deal for the price. All made to order and you have some customizations available. It's like a Chinese burrito but the wraps are made of several thin crepe like rice sheets - also made fresh. Lots more vegetables than meat inside and a large is big enough for 2 people to share. I'd you get here earlier in the day, they also make salty 'fan tuan' in both purple and white rices along with other Chinese breakfast items like Chinese donuts. While my BFF and I were in this area, we stopped by this branch to pick up a few stuffs. We were excited to see that they have a : made to order Chinese burrito section. My BFF ordered one with pork to take home. She said it tasted okay (she forgot to take pictures though.. LOL) They also have a behind the counter made fresh to order, bean paste filled pan cakes section! I saw and fell in love with the way their egg tarts look, so I got all 4 that were left. I think the egg tarts were made better than at other 99 ranch market's branches! The crust were flakier and crunchier, while the custard were baked and caramelized better as well! Other than that, we just picked up some Tofu and a few other basic ingredients for our cooking. The issue with this place is probably its employees And its management. the check out wait time here is usually longer than any other market no matter what the issues may be. And at the seafood / poultry department, their staff usually are not attentive to the customers , hence also the longer wait time. This is not a preferred grocery location, at least to me personally. Their employees do not seem to be efficient, and perhaps there is no incentive for them to be productive. hopefully their management could Improve. read more

My daughters and I had a hotpot to go to this past Sunday. It was at one of my dear friend's house. Thank you for hosting my friend! We had to pick up some hotpot ingredients on our way there. Parking here isn't too difficult as its a big parking lot. The only issue is the drivers! This market has a nice selection of asian groceries. I stop by frequently to restock on grocery's. It's been at this location for a while now. If you want something more clean maybe opt for the new GW market in Temple City or go to H Mart in Arcadia. I have a bad experience and personally hate this location due to the stupid cashiers not giving af about how long people waits in line. If their Chinese customer keeps running out of line to grab multiple times for a different item they would just keep checking the price for them not caring how long other people are waiting. Then hops to another register to do random tasks so in 30 minutes only one person checks out, the line never moves. Or if a customer needs to try different cards they would just do stupid stuff for the customer for a long time not caring who's waiting to also pay. I love this 99 location. It is in the same plaza as Sunright. There is plenty of parking and even though it is busy, it is not as bad as the one in the mall. They have everything you need from simply grocery shopping to hot pot ingredients and sauces. Veggies are fresh and at decent prices. I like buying my hot pot meat here, they have plenty of options. Their staff is friendly and always willing to help. If I cannot find something, they literally take me where the product is (not just what aisle). I had a really bad experience here today. I ordered two Taiwanese burritos on the Burrito counter and asked for some chili sauce because honestly, the burrito itself didn't have much flavor. There was a female worker with a terrible attitude. When I asked for chili sauce, she told me they didn't have any. I mentioned that I had gotten it before from other staff, and then she said she would give me one. I was confused and said, "One? I bought two burritos." She looked very annoyed and asked me, "So how many do you want?!" I said maybe four or five. The look she gave me completely changed, like I was asking for something unreasonable. I don't understand why it's such a problem to ask for some extra chili sauce when I'm paying for my food. I then asked her what the chili sauce usually comes with. She ignored me, so I raised my voice a bit and asked again. She snapped back asking me, "Comes with what?" I said, "How much is it? I can buy it." She replied, "We don't sell it!" I was shocked by her attitude. If she's the owner, I honestly don't know how she runs her business like this. I want to share this hidden gem with everyone inside the 99 ranch market. Most people would not expect an Asian market to have these traditional Taiwanese street food. Inside the deli section of this Ranch 99 sells the Taiwanese burrito (Run-bing) and red bean pan cake (aka. wheel cake) made fresh daily. I absolutely love this place and this combination and the prices! The burrito comes with peanut powder (optional), shred sautéed cabbage, one choice of protein (I pick the marinated pork), stir fry bean curd, bean sprouts, scrambled eggs, pickled radish and you can choose one out of 3 sauces: sesame, wasabi or bbq. All the ingredients are optional. The wrapper is thinner and more chewy than a tortilla. I love that I don't feel heavy after eating one which makes me crave it again. The small one is only $4.99 and the large one $5.99. What a great value and it is delicious! The red bean pan cakes are good too. The filling comes in custard as well. I personally prefer the red bean filling. It's made right in front of you. If you end up eating it the next day, I recommend air frying it. It's $1.50 each or 5 for $6. Again, what a great value. We didn't order a cake beforehand, so we needed one fast that didn't have strawberries, as my mom is allergic. The staff at this 99 Ranch was so friendly, so accommodating, and so understanding of my needs! I ordered an 8" garden fruit cake with no strawberries or grapes in the filling. It was $30.99 for the whole thing, even with the customizations! The cake had chocolate squares covering the outside instead of espresso streaks, but I liked the chocolate squares more. I came in at 9 am to order it and it was ready by 1 pm!! I would definitely recommend their bakery and service. The cake itself was light, sweet but not too sweet, and very professional looking. Every 99 Ranch Market is different. The one in San Gabriel has a far better seafood and especially vegetable selection (as measured in freshness). The one in Alhambra is comparable to the one in Arcadia and the one in Monterey Park is run down IMO. I avoid the read meat and chicken at this location. The hot food deli is OK. Go there for the Taiwan burritos which are the bomb and a good low carb meal if you are seeking one. Whereas the SG location sells char siu this one does not. H-Mart is far cleaner, has much much much better produce than the Arcadia 99 Ranch. Koreans can run a store better than the Chinese IMO. The cashier YINGFEN KU and the customer service at this branch of 99 ranch is insulting and hostile. Long story short, they accused me of stealing after I paid my 41 items grocery because the shop didn't put the price tag on one box of strawberry. Miss Yingfen Ku was very unfriendly to begin with when she checked me out my items. When Mis Ku found there was one box of strawberry had no price tag, she looked up and said angrily "why this one has no tag" like it was my fault. Her manager stopped by and found that the shop forgot to add the price tag and told Miss Ku that box of strawberry might be $2.99 without checking the actual item while I had to correct them that the item should be $3.99. Then Miss Yingfen Ku threw the item back to me and said, "I am not checking this out, you go to the customer service for this item.", without telling me where the customer service was. I haven't been to this branch for a while, so after checking out, I asked the security where to find the customer service . When I talked to the security, Miss Yingfen hopped out of her station, yelled at me on the top of her lungs across the entire shop: "Hey, have you paid for your strawberry? You can't go without paying it." Her colleagues at the customer service backed her up by saying:" How could you not see us. " Even when I was paying for the item at the customer service, they still went on the non-stopping: "How can you not see us." This behavior is rude, insulting and not acceptable. This review is for the breakfast deli items only. Rice roll, soy milk, green onion pancakes are the typical items. I recently discovered 99 ranch's deli has purple rice rolls. Rice roll as a breakfast is typically made with white rice, chopped preserved radish, pork floss and twisted cruller (chinese donut). The purple rice just taste more special. Honestly 99 ranch's rice rolls taste much better than other Taiwanese breakfast shops. Be aware the purple rice roll is only available on the weekend and it sells out fast like 9am! This is strictly about the check out experience. I cannot imagine a more horrible way to check out for grocery. I understand that there are a lot of supermarkets that are now doing without baggers but no other place is as harsh as this 99 Ranch. In other markets, the cashiers really appreciate it when they see us bagging stuff as soon as we can and in most cases, when we are still bagging when they are done scanning, they will wait for us to come over to the payment pad to take out our credit card to pay and they will also help us to bag the last stuff and put everything in our cart and THEN, ONLY THEN, will they start to serve the next customer. I never feel rushed or despised or taken granted for when I bag my stuff in other supermarkets. Like I said, there are many stores that now do without a bagger. I understand it is a cost issue, fine, but please understand that I am a customer, not a professional bagger in your market. Though I'd like to help, the design of your check out stand alleys are inherently not favorable for shoppers to bag for themselves. The check out stands are designed like that for a good reason, don't you think? 99 Ranch, you need to train your cashiers to finish one customer first before serving the next one. We as customers also do not want to stay in your market one more second than necessary but you at least have to wrap up one ticket before taking care of the next if you do not want to pay for a bagger at the end of the check out stand. read more

In the past decade, a lot of Asian grocery stores have popped up around the 626 area. But this 99 ranch location has always been my first choice for groceries. They're constantly updating their inventory with the newest and latest trendy brands from Taiwan and China. They have great weekly sales and my whole family loves their cooked food section. My parents always get their bentos (my dad likes the fried pork, and my mom likes the pork belly with pickled veggies). They also have Unagi rice, charsiu, pan fried buns, and my favorite is the Taiwanese Run Bing (aka burrito?) that they assemble fresh to order. They have a huge parking lot, relatively new shopping carts, and the whole place is as clean as it can really get in an Asian supermarket. read more

It used to be pretty clean, and there was always a variety of vegetables, meats, and Asian snacks. However, as I continued visiting these past few years, I've noticed the quality turn starkly south. It's commonly dirtier than I've remembered, and it feels more like an outdoors open market except that there's a roof. Other than the shelves and produce & meats section, I have not visited the bakery or grab-and-go sections as often. The portion is massive and perfect for the price. $6.49 for a massive delicious tasting bento. The pork chop was so big, crunchy, and juicy. The sesame oil cabbage was very tasty and flavorful. The tea egg was good. It tasted like citrus green tea. The fried tofu was tender and earthy. The sausage was rich and full of flavor. The pickled mustard greens were sharp, sour, and tangy. The ginger that was there was kind of like a palate cleanser for me. Staff: The staff here are very friendly and quick. They accept both cash and credit cards. There is no credit card minimum.
