I used to LOVE and APPRECIATE this 99-Cent Store & all it's trappings.... Unfortunately, this un-bargain store must have had some type of "reorganization" or change in personnel aka: Management because the store is mostly empty now and their prices have shot clear up and out the roof. I used to look forward to shopping here and one area they helped me and my continuous strict-budget, was the low affordable cost for groceries. It's just changed so much. Perishable unfresh is the majority of their vegetable & fruit department. The majority of the employees look like they are brand-new, unskilled, and lacking in personal accountability & honest answers. Batteries may be the only item I purchase here now and most of the time, we get our batteries from their competitor; I think, Dollar Tree. In the middle of a severe pandemic & resource recession isn't the time to punish your paying customers by hiking up the prices of nearly everything & then abandon quality customer-service. Just updating this review as I noted during the review process just now that it's been a few years since updating this listing and now I see how an update for the paying consumer is crucially important for us all to be aware of. I quickly learned the store did not live up its name. Not everything was 99 cents, but I figured that was impossible with inflation. The problem is the pricing is unreliable, incorrect, or both. I bought two items where the sticker underneath the display said the price was $2. They both rang up as $2.99. Consistent pricing was easy when everything was 99 cents. But now I can't trust the sticker on the racks. read more

I went to the store and I needed to go use the restroom really bad they said it was out of order and then I would have to go to Goodwill. I've brought this store down to a 2 point review because of the way I was confronted by a store associate about my backpack. I replied " that's a first because most the time they don't ask me to leave my bag in front" as she turn replied with a snarl or unpleasant look on her face" we always have". I live the store prices, and I'm not saying that all store associates are the same because most have given me a smile as I approached them or checked out. I'm going to give them time to adjust, and if not I'll take my money some where else with better savings and smiles. There's extended isles are looking nice, and I'm noticing more variety of merchandise. I hope it's starts looking cleaning and well stocked. read more

I love the 99 cents store, in Turlock Ca. I go there at least once a month. I live in a fix income, so when I get my check the 99 cents store is the first place I visit to get whatever I can get there, before I go to other stores. I save a lot of money, because I get there stuff that I would pay 3 to 4 times more of what I pay there. The produce might not be as fresh as others stores, but most of them, still good enough to eat, you just have to check it out. read more

Dude!!! This is probably the biggest 99 Cent Store I've been to. The shelves are so tall I can't even see over the aisles. This store I think is understaffed because a lot of the shelves were empty or this place is rally busy people bought the out. Either way I got great customer service with a smile. Also love that the location is closer to town, Dollar Tree is just too far for me to go to. This location is more convenient from where I live. read more

super slow. took like 20 minutes of waiting in line. they didnt have that many cashiers and the cashiers were slow

Has anyone noticed that in the last 6 months or so they are now charging by the pound for bananas & grapes (so far). What happened to the only 99 cents ????? Well I finally asked them why they were doing that and the answer really was a surprise. Turns out that store was bought out by WAL-MART. That's right you read it. It was great for employees, but not for customers because they are slowing changing original company motto of 'ONLY 99 CENTS". They couldn't beat them especially now with the new express market so they do as they please & bought out the chain. That is too bad cause if they continue raising prices then it will be another store to close down in that location which is already a dead shopping site. I'll start off sayen some the items here are decent quality but the store itself is realy good on stocked but if your in hurry don't expect to get checked out faster than 20 mins. They seem to have long lines towards the middle of isles and only have 2 registers open and slow workers at them. read more

Big store lots of variety which I like. If you don't mind waiting 20 to 25 minutes to get checked out this is the place for you. Also employees are extremely rude at this 99 cent store store also could use a good cleaning read more

Products- The quality of some of their products is beyond value for the 99 cents paid. They also offer food and produce, which I love. They have pretty much what A "regular" grocery store has: produce, canned goods, dried spices, dairy, refrigerated food, frozen food, paper plates, cups, kitchen items, cleaning supplies..... Service- Their service is somewhat slow at checking out, but what you are getting is worth it. I also like that they have a bathroom for customers to use. I will keep on going there, but only when I have quite a few items to get because I hate the line at checkout, specially if it's only for an item or two. read more

I use to love shopping here. "99 Cent ONLY" store, right? Nope. This store has items marked above 99 cents now. How could you call yourself a 99 Cent Only store when you are sneaking in items that are priced $1.99-$5.99? If I really wanted to pay that much, I'd go to a different store. Zero customer service, very rude and. unprofessional staff , as i approach to register to pay for my stuff, the cashier was talking on phone after she was done without saying a word she start ringing my stuff , until the other employee walk to her and she stop ringing my stuff and start talking with her , i wait couple of minutes until i saw other peoples on line waiting too. I ask the cashier if she can finish ringing my stuff because i am in hurry She came back to register and start ringing my stuff .but with looking on her face you could tell how mad she was. after she hand me my change she went back to her fellow friend and they start talking and she just left all of my bags on other side of counter . That is making me really sad when i see. that company owners are not paying attention on educating thier staff about customer service and that how important is relation between thier company and employees which is represent thier companies name Because from now on everytime i see 99cent store. No longer 99 cents only. I quit shopping here about 2 years ago because of the panhandlers and poor service. But I went back today to look for items to donate and discovered that now it is " Most items" are 99 cents. This is to bad as it is not in a bustling shopping center and is one of the anchor stores. The panhandlers are gone but the service is still terrible. The lines are long at the checkout. read more
