REVIEW FOR DOLLAR TREE: This still isn't listed as a Dollar Tree in Yelp so adding it as that or will move this review over if/when it's changed to the new store. I've been on a quest to find dupes and viral products and this is where I have found a lot of them. This store is big, well stocked, very clean, organized and well maintained. It is by far the best Dollar Tree I have seen in SD so far. They could definitely use more staff running the registers but I'm still giving them 5 stars for being one of the better Dollar Trees in the area! read more

I am still not a fan of the asphalt conditions at Dollar Tree in San Ysidro (ie unmarked parking stalls and potholes all over). Even when it was 99cent store, the parking area was unpleasant looking. The inside of the store, on the other hand, was much better looking and maintained. Spacious, clean, organized, mostly stocked items, and wide aisles. Not bad. Also, place wasn't crowded. There was one cashier with a line of four people. I did my share in waiting in line. Other than this, my shopping experience at this location was fine. read more

I must say, for being a 99c store in a bordertown, I was very impressed with it! Meaning the stock of items on hand, organization, accessibility, and as one reviewer mentioned, bathrooms are open even during Covid as it makes easy for those of us needing them when you do & I found lots to buy on my way out. When I pick up my hubby from the border, I have no problem waiting and killing time here as they just have too many good items and a huge parking lot that doesn't get too packed or busy. The staff that works here clearly don't care about customer service. They have long lines and only have one cashier line open most times. Today I come in and by far the worst time ever. One cashier line was open and the line was extremely long. Very nice girl named Nicole. So polite and was handling everything really well. The other staff member named Blanca who was up front and more concerned with returns even though 2 staff members on the floor were already currently putting stuff back was not worried at all at helping. She saw the line and kept going about her business. I waited in line so long my ice cream was melted. So I finally ask that cashier Blanca can you or someone open another register the line is long. She walks away like she didn't hear me. Then she proceeds to open another register and she takes the customer behind me when I was next. I don't know how this girl has a job here when she has no sense of priority. Plus theirs alot of trash out front and smells like pee. They have good stuff and its extremely close to my house but I'd rather go out of my way to the 99 cent store on palm. read more

I have no idea how the sole reviewer for this 99 cent store could give but only one star. This place like many places close to the border has many shoppers, but they also have many things, many of which are name brands that would be priced much higher in a larger popular stores. They have a pretty nice produce section. Splurge and buy or make fruit and veggies wash elsewhere and pick up a grip from here. The lines move quickly as they have multiple cashiers. Getting assistance in English, however, may be tough, but I think you'll be able to maneuver. I'd give 5 stars, but like I said, many people are here...and sometimes you just don't want to deal with that aspect. You have to be in the mood for San Ysidro...I guess I am :) Hardware, cleaning supplies, mail/shipping supplies, food, gardening...they have it all! It's attached to a separate entity/liquidation center that has a bunch of mini stores with individual owners. There is a connecting door that you can enter through the 99 cent store. read more

If I had the chance to rate this store 0 stars I most definitely would. Every time I call to reschedule my interview they ask me to hold on so they can get a manager and hang up. I've been trying to call for days straight now. Very bad customer service when you walk in and buy something. Some cashier scan one thing more than once by " accident ". Please just save yourself the trouble and don't go there or even try to get a job there. read more

Five stars for having their restrooms open during covid , they are in the back of the store and you have to ask the employees to unlock it for you . It was clean and you can tell they clean them regularly because of the cleaning supply smell . I think it's stupid that other places have their bathroom closed during covid . To me it's just a lazy excuse not to clean the restroom. Disinfecting the bathrooms regularly and you should be good to go. Other than that , didn't do much shopping . I was walking into TJ and needed to use the restroom really bad . Every place that I went too had their restroom closed . The place is small, but I did walk around and they have variety of stuff and they kept the lines moving fast . read more

Very well stocked! Line moves quickly! This is one of the few 99 cents stores that have enough cashiers. The line moved very quickly and I was so happy about that! The store was very well stocked. The fruit was well presented and there were lots of variety. There were lots of Mexican candies and pastries which was interesting to see. The stores shelves looked almost overstocked which was great to see. I asked for help and the lady not only knew what I was talking about but pointed me to the exact location. I was able to find everything I needed here. The cashier was very friendly as well. Whenever I'm in the area I will definitely come here. read more

Used to come here a lot when I onced lived in San Ysidro. Crazy how I did some of my groceries down here but many of us are frugal shoppers. Sometimes this store would carry popular brands and you'd only pay $1! Example, Oreos, Nature Valley bars, Farm Fresh chicken strips and more. If I had one major complaint it would be the lines. It gets crowded sporadically during the day. Sometime I'm here before they close but you most of the good items are gone or very limited. Another, it does get messy and I feel sorry for the employees that have to clean after the customers. Parking is plentiful but watch out some drivers are wreckless and don't obey driving rules. read more

This 99 Cent Only Store is no longer 99 Cent only. I usually just go to this store for inexpensive holliday decorations so I hadn't been here in a while. I went this past weekend to get some halloween stuff and to walk the aisle. While walking the aisle I noticed things were price different, some things had $1.99 on them I even saw thingd price $2.99. These things didn't look any better quality or quantity as the items price 99c. You have to make sure to look for a price not just think that it is going to 99c. The store in general is always crowded but it is largeish. The parking lot is a mess (lots of trash) but is big, there is always parking. read more

This 99 cents has been here for awhile so I've always went here before they opened the one in 3rd avenue, the store is nothing special it gets packed a lot specially in weekends I hate coming here cause they don't open a lot of lanes like the one at 3rd avenue, here there's usually 3 open and rarely 4 open, when there's a lot of people it is hard to walk thru the aisles I hope they fix it by annexing what used to be the baazar if they made the 99 cents store bigger my complains would get fixed other than that their stock is not as good there's always something specific I want but they don't have it so whenever I come here I get disappointed I don't find what I want come here only if you live in the area otherwise I recommend going to the one at 3rd avenue better stock, more products and you won't get stuck in aisles due to people. read more

Nothing on the self...worst 99cent store ive ever seen....to close to the border..big waste of time...

This is one of the better 99¢ stores in Southern California, and I've been to a LOT. Clean open aisles, lots of frozen products, snacks and goodies, and the clientele isn't as bickering/inpatient with each other in line as compared to the Lakewood or LBC branches. A lot of fellow back-from-the-border vacation crowd. The staff is friendlier than a lot of the suburban SoCal branches too. Definitely stop here if you're in the need of local gas and snacks after crossing back from the border on your destination home! read more
