I used Cool Cat for my company Christmas party on Saturday. I had used another company last year…read moreand it was not bad, but I wasn't that impressed and was looking for something better. Lucky for me and the 50 of us that attended, we found Chef Jack and his team. We were all incredibly impresed at the professionalism, service and the taste/presentation of the food. The service was spot on and the food was even better.
We chose the following menu items:
- Cheese board with artisanal cheeses, cured meets, fruits, nuts, olives.
- Baguette crostinis and dips (fire roasted pepper romesco, spinach artichoke and clue cheese and carmelized shallots)
- Beef sliders with peppers, cheese, pickle aoli (much larger than average beef patty that was tender, juicy and loaded with flavor and served on soft slider buns)
- Cali tartar - ahi, avocado cream on taro root chips (This is a must have item in my opinion and it was a perfect combination of flavors and textures.)
- Bacon wrapped dates stuffed with feta and topped with a fig drizzle (you can never go wrong with bacon but these were some of the best I've had)
- Pigs in a blanket (sweet sausage, dijon pancake and maple glaze)
- Warm brie canape, green apple jam, fresh apple and honey glaze
- Crostini with buffalo mazzarella and tomato jam
- Fire roasted corn soup "shooters"
We had set up a cheese board station and the dips/crostinis station but the rest of the items were all tray passed. The service was spot on the entire evening. The presentation of the food being served was beautiful (the pictures of their food is what got me interested in Cool Cat to start). Sometimes you have food that looks better then it tastes and to me that's always a big let down. On this occasion the beautiful presentation of each food item matched the taste and flavor in each item we were served.
Cool Cat also provided a bartender and they even came up with two custom cocktails to match our "Casino" party theme (an M16 Martini - vodka, pomegranate and grapefruit and a Gold Finger Mojito - muddled orange, fresh mint, champagne).
I've used a few different caterers over the years here in San Diego and hands down these guys were the best I've used so I would highly recommend Cool Cat.
