We gave Caliente BBQ very little heads up and were worried that we had not planned out far enough. Well, Mike over at Caliente is a real miracle worker. He had great suggestions for quickly hitting a menu within our budget. He is very professional businessman and quite the amazing chef. He and his coworker, Joe are true gentlemen and quite the BBQ experts. Our guests could not stop raving about the food. What a wonderful experience working with Michael from Caliente BBQ. For our weekly company lunch we wanted to mix it up a bit and eat outside at the park. Having the custom BBQ Grill Trailer made it so easy, food was absolutely wonderful and the BBQ sauces were the talk of the table! We have a habanero pineapple chicken, tri-tip and the cream corn and green chili mac and cheese. These were just a few items on the many things that this cater can offer. These people charged me $130 for ONE PLATE OF BBQ when they came to visit at my apartments!!!!! One plate was $12 and some change! They only gave me back $100!!! $15-$17 isn't much to not have the full amount given back to me and to have that pending on my bank account is very much aggravating!!! Mike is amazing. They catered our daughter's 1st birthday party for 60+ adults and kids. I'm a skeptic so I had to try him out before just hiring him and he sent me over to a brewery for a meal in Chula Vista. Oh. Man. I had to hire him after this sample and didn't regret it one bit. First off, Mike is absolutely the kindest chef/caterer I've ever met. He works with you to make the event perfect and cares to be sure the experience is as good as the food. He brought his own tent, tables, serving dishes, cutlery, plates, napkins, sauces, service staff... literally everything. We couldn't decide between the proteins so we got 3; chicken, ribs, and tri-tip. Our guests raved. Mike brought SO much food and we couldn't stop people from coming back for seconds/thirds. They then cleaned up and packed out leaving us with to go trays with the rest which we feasted on for 2 days. I recommend without reservation Mike and his team. If you have to choose only 2 dishes, the chicken and ribs are a must. His side salad with the berries is superb. The service, though, is the attraction here... all at a price you shouldn't say no to. read more

The day of the party he arrived as scheduled, set up his festive red tent and serving trays and everything went off without a hitch! Mike came out to my house to meet with us a month before my party to introduce himself, talk about the menu and to look at the layout for his setup. He kept in communication in regards to the size of the party before going to purchase the supplies. Tri tip was amazing, excellent quality of meat was used, Habanero chicken was also outstanding. They stayed to serve guests for 5 hours, when they packed up he even left me the entire container of his Ghost Pepper sauce which was my favorite.
