As a owner of a small business, I am appalled by the way I was treated after spending a few minutes to grab a few bags of candy. I greeted the cashiers cheerfully and was met with dirty looks and silence. If the owner of this establishment is interested in keeping their doors open, I suggest they consider hiring people who at the least, are friendly to the consumers. Renee would never be someone I'd hire based on her performance, nor the other younger girl. Both were rude and seemed very unhappy to work there. The store itself was a delight to walk through. We took our grandkids here to get jelly bellies! I cannot remember the name of the young lady that helped us, but she let us know that the best deal would be to buy the box that you fill yourself. She was very friendly and helpful and She was right! What would have cost us $27, cost us $14.95. Don't go for the "regular" candy that you can get at other stores, get the fun stuff. You'll get the best deal for your money. You can get your good-n-plenty and rasinettes at the dollar store. Go for special flavored gummies, jelly bellies, and a large assortment of other candies that you can't get elsewhere. The girl that helped us also let us taste samples so we would know what different candies taste like. The candy is pricey here, but if you fill a box and are choosey with your selection, it's so worth it. It's a fun experience. read more

Wow Never going here again.. I think they don't weight your stuff correctly. I did my weighing of the m&m myself. It was less than a pound, I figured I would add more to make sure it was about a pound about 4-5 bucks but when I went to the register.. OMG he charged me over 18 bucks first and was like what are you charging me?? Then he said that for my m&m bag it was 12 and the other about 6.... I'm like are you kidding me!! Had him take out about a handful and then still came out to be 12 bucks for my order.. He basically said the picture above was 6 dollars. You be the judge. Some of the employees are sooo rude. I went there once and never again. I touched some candy that I going to buy I think it was like a rope candy I can't remember and one of the employee's walked up on me fast and grabbed the candy from me and said not to touch it. I think cuz she thought I was a teenager she could do that but it was so rude. It was a white lady wearing a candy headband and had like designs on her face. Idk where they find their employees but never going there again. I'd rather go to See's Candies were they actually care for their customers. I came in today with my daughters to grab some candy obviously before the movie. I asked for Boston Baked Beans, right away im told they dont have them. The girls working the store seemed a little confused. Then i ask if they know what Boston baked beans are and of course neither of them had a clue. If you dont known the inventory or it changes thats fine. Dont bs me and have me walk around the store and find what i was looking for. I respect it more if you say you dont know than act like u know and get called out. They actually do have them whem i was there but I will just go to target and purchase them there just for principal. I stop by and eat and shop at its sugar all the time especially when I'm making a candy bar. It's sugar always satisfies my sweet tooth.This store reminds me of sweet factory in UTc mall. They have everything you need and more. I love the old school candy they sell ;lemon heads, nerds and red hots. Great candy store for nostalgic items like Pop Rocks, candy buttons on paper tape, pixy stix, wax "bottles" with different color/flavored liquid, Mary Jane candy, Now n Laters candy, etc. My particular favorite: Jolly Rancher candles - and boy does the blue/purple one smell good after you light it! Marked it down a star as it is pricey and you can do much better at traditional stores if they have what you want (and of course, on-line). But if you'd like to take a trip down memory lane, or discover some of the newer candy delights, this is a great place for it. This is probably the best place in the South Bay where you can get just about any type of candy. The best thing to buy here are the gigantic snickers bars or Resses! They are my favorite . I bought them in sale for my BF for $5. If you have sweet tooth this is a perfect place for you! You will literally be that kid at the candy store no matter how old you are. read more

My husband loves candy and takes every opportunity to grab some. :) This store had a scale out for us to weigh and gage how much was in our bag. When we went up to the counter their scale registered a whole half pound heavier. When we brought it up to the associates attention she just said, "that scale is an estimate!" I stressed it was a WHOLE half pound ($6) Off she then walked over and removed it from the floor. Until we walked out...5mins later the customer scale was back in place. She offered no apology, and did not offer to test her scale to prove that they were not being dishonest. My husband says he isn't going back to that place again and was quite surprised at how expensive it was. (He's purchased from this very store 5-6 times previously.) read more

Went in here with boyfriends little brother and sister and I wanted some candy cause I use to work at a candy store and I picked out my favorite candy which was cherry sours and sour belts but they tasted nasty. They were hard. And looking around at the candy wasn't appealing cause you share the utensils with other candies and that's cross contamination.... Whenever i'm in town and go to Plaza Bonita, I always go into this store-- even if i'm just passing through. They have an amazing selection of bulk candy, as well as novelty snacks and cultural paraphernalia! The store itself is well kept and very welcoming! On a recent San Diego visit, I dropped into It'sugar looking for some candy I could use to decorate cupcakes for an "Under the Sea" themed party. I had done my research on pinterest and found loads of good ideas, but wasn't 100% sure which type of candy to use. I had already stopped by Walmart and the Dollar Tree, but I couldn't find exactly what I needed. I knew that It'sugar products were a bit pricey, but that this was the spot to go to. The staff at the store was very helpful and professional!!! Mariah was very patient with me, and really went out of her way to answer any of my questions, and even offered suggestions for alternative decorating ideas for my cupcakes! She even helped me decide which choices were the most "economical," just so I could get exactly what I needed within the budget I was working with! She was really sweet and funny, and definitely made me feel comfortable during my shopping experience! In addition, Josh was an excellent cashier. He was warm and friendly. While waiting for my turn to pay, I overheard the customer ahead of me rudely DEMANDING (not asking) that Josh replace his change with different bills because he was sure that the money was counterfeit. Josh handled the situation very professionally, assuring the customer that there was nothing to worry about, but still complying to the customers wishes. Throughout the ordeal, he remained positive, and did not let the customer's negativity interfere with his work. My cupcakes came out great! I will post photos soon. Con: Some of their things are definitely on the pricey side, but if you're in the neighborhood of throwing together a last-minute, kickass gag-gift, and you find Spencer's a little too raunchy (or just want to add a little sumthin' sumthin'), this is the place to go! read more

One of my favorite spots to hit up when going to the plaza bonita mall. They offer a huge variety of bulk and non bulk or edible candy related items plus they offer military discounts as well. The apple and strawberry sour belts are my main reasons to come here because there is no sweet factory located near where I live and the sour belts ive tried at other sweet factory locations dont taste as good as they used to. read more

I had heard some amazing things about this store but unfortunately I got a rude awakening from one of there associates. Adrianna I believe her name was, the other associates refer to her as dre. She was very rude, did not seem like she even wanted to be there. I get it..if youre having a bad day then your attitude is going to reflect throughout the day but she was just pain rude, nasty attitude with not only customers but the staff as well. My experience here was digusting and horrible, I went there with a craving for sour belts and when I entered the lady already had an attitude towards me. Then when I grabbed my bag to fill my candy with and open the lid of candy i saw a lot of ants crawling on the candy, and when I told the lady she snatched my bag and told me to leave.
