As soon as we arrived at 94DR, John kindly poured us some tea and was very happy to answer all of our sightseeing and logistical questions about Edinburgh. What a great welcome after a long flight! For breakfast the next morning, Paul made a perfectly cooked eggs Benedict (mine with ham, while husband chose the smoked salmon) with a spot on hollandaise sauce - just the right texture and amount of salt. He also made a delicious berry and pear compote served with yogurt and granola, which was nicely balanced and not too sweet (I usually find most yogurts to be sweeter than I'd like). This was easily the best breakfast we had during our entire stay in Scotland and England! The room was very clean and modern, and the location is great - it's a just short walk from the Royal Mile, but far enough away so that you can take a break from the tourist spots and enjoy Edinburgh as the locals do. You can tell that they care immensely about the details, both big and small, that make a perfect bed and breakfast. read more
