It's a smaller shop with a friendly, personal atmosphere, and nobody pressured me while I looked around. They had more on the walls than I expected, too: everything from affordable guns around $350 to some seriously nice high-end options. I'd visited a few shops around Raleigh, and this was the first one where I liked both the selection and the people enough to buy. Kurht was there, and you could tell he cared about the customers. While I was looking around, I watched someone buy his first gun. Kurht took the time with him, and it was cool to be there for that moment. We all remember our first one. Then I spotted a Geissele Super Duty in exactly the color and setup I wanted, so I ended up taking it home. I also bought a scope, which he mounted and zeroed at 200 yards for me. The whole experience of an out of state sale was fast, easy and enjoyable. I'd recommend Tar River Arms wholeheartedly. If I lived nearby, I'd be a regular. Even from Florida, I'd be happy to order through them and have a gun shipped to my local FFL. Thanks, Kurht, for a great experience.

She and I talked about the current situation involving the shortage of both guns and ammunition. The store had a large selection of both handguns and long guns but I was not shopping for either of those at the time. I will return and am happy I found this place as the world moves forward.

At the two week mark I called for a status update on a Saturday and was told no update was available and to call back when the gunsmith was present during a weekday. I called again the following week during regular business hours and was informed the gunsmith was still unavailable. No status was provided and I was told I would be contacted when the work was complete. After zero communication or updates from them, I visited the store on December 19, one month after drop off. The manager stated the gunsmith was reportedly sick prior and they were backed up. He also stated there were no notes in the system, no visibility into the work queue, no confirmation of the firearm's location or status, and no estimated completion date. The only guidance provided was that I would be called when the work was done. It could be 2 days it could be another month. I will not conduct further business with Capital Range and Firearms and at this point hope they ultimately complete the work or locate my Glock. Delays happen, but it is completely unacceptable to have no visibility into the status of gunsmithing work and no revised timeline to provide to customers. Drew Davis
