DO NOT BUY FROM THIS COMPANY They say in stock and what they really mean is they can order it from the manufacturer the same as you. I waited 5 days for my order status to change to shipped before calling. I was told they didn't actually have it in stock that they were ordering it from the manufacturer that shows it on back order. The price was the same as what the manufacturer was selling it on their web site but in stock. Just be honest and say you don't have it in stock, and that it is on back order from the manufacturer. That as soon as you receive a shipment from them you will notify me so I can pay for it then or try and go find it somewhere else. I have been there a few times and the first time I went to get my arrows cut and I wanted to put red and white fletches the older gentlemen looked annoyed I was there and said he ddnt have white ones. So I went over there to the aisle and saw them plain as day no way he could've missed it. Then he cut my brand new arrows all different lengths and when I put my broad head on it hit my riser and I had told him what length I was and all the info he needed and he still got it wrong. This all happened a few years ago. I gave them another try since I was in the area and when me and my wife went in no one said a a word to us and I was in there for a little while looking for a bow accessories and not a single employee came to see if we needed help. As an 18 year old black male, the service i receive at Mace Sports is great actually. i have bought 2 guns from them with the latest being a Kel-Tec Sub-2000. As an 18 year old i cannot legally buy 9mm ammo but they let me get it because they know that i have purchased a Pistol Caliber Carbine at their establishment. I would like to recognize John, for being very friendly and patient with me. These people are not racist whatsoever, so please do not let the Trump sign steer you away. The fact that you would let a sign that is not hurting you in anyway steer you away from a great gunstore means you need grow some skin. If there is proof that they are not racist, I AM IT. Wow, I just got back from my first visit to Mace. It won't be my last. Great selection of firearms; however, the customer service is just over the top. As I told the clerk, this was the best customer service I've EVER had at a gun/outdoor shop. They greet you when you walk in the door and the salesclerk are patient and never rush you. They're not paid on commission so they don't steer you towards the most expensive items or things you don't need. Highly recommended especially for first-time buyers. read more

I stood there 20 minute before I walked out with no help, a nice lady at the desk even asked another gentleman to "help the young Mann in the white shirt he's been standing a while" which was me but the gentleman proceeds to answering the phone and then going to help another customer instead After standing around another 10 minutes with no help I decided to finally leave, before doing so I let two employees know about the issue and all they replied with was "sorry" I'd rather take my cash an hour down the road to get great service. This is about as good as an outdoor store gets. I went here just on a whim while pulling off for gas, and am glad I did. The selection (and prices) were amazing! Even as someone who is not a big "gun guy," the firearm selection and knowledge of the sales people was impressive. The bows were even better...possibly the best selection of archery equipment I've ever seen. The Carhartt section was particularly good. It seems everywhere else I go, the only sizes they have are XL or larger...they had a large selection of not only types of jackets, sweatshirts, and such, but a great selection of sizes as well! Glad I stopped by...will definitely make a point of stopping by again when I pass through. read more

I recently obtained my pistol purchase permit and set out to make my first handgun purchase (home safety and soon to be concealed carry.) I was recommended Mace Sports for the hometown feel and hometown pricing. After a couple weeks of research, Mace was $50 cheaper than anywhere else I looked. Unless you are buying a gun you will be treated like you are wasting there time. Now if you just like being treated like you are wasting a salesmen's time, I would recommend Mace sports in Mebane NC. Me personally I will find some where to buy my reloading supplies (AKA spend my money) that has time for all there costumers, not just the ones that are buying guns. I get it $400-1000(gun) vs.$100-300reloading supply's). I was and am just getting started in the reloading of my own ammunition. In short this place provides little, to no customer service and simply wishes to get guns out the door much a like a big box store. If you do go, which I can't recommend, go with your own knowledge, an eye for detail, and mostly expect absolutely no help should you have an issue. Details of my multiple negative experiences with Mace Sports below... I really want to like this place, but after purchasing several guns from this store I would never recommend them to friends or return. The first gun was a deer rifle from my wife. Not only did the gun malfunction from the start (not cycling rounds, jamming), I had terrible issues when trying to zero the scope...Why? Because they sold my wife an AIR RIFLE scope for a .270 rifle. We took the gun back the next day, and they claimed the scope should be fine...wrong! Eventually they agreed to take both items back, but only gave me a partial refund on the firearm sale. Reluctantly, I used my store credit to purchase a new gun and scope that works well. Considering they're selection and a deal on scopes they were advertising; I decided I would purchase a NEW muzzleloader from them for the upcoming season. I called to check their inventory and they had one new gun (the model I wanted) in stock. I asked for a cash price (around $40 off) and purchased the rifle with a new Nikon scope. They mounted and bore sighted the scope and sent me on my way. When I arrived home I took the rifle out of the box and noticed a small nick in the finish, near the breach plug. Being a carbon steel barrel on a muzzleloader this worried me due the risk of corrosion issues...If the finish was nicked sitting on the shelf, how will it hold up in the woods? I immediately called the store to speak with someone and they said to come back by the store and they would resolve the issue. I never fired the gun and all tags were left in tact. When I arrived to the store they refused to help me, refused to take back the gun, and said the nick in the finish wouldn't affect the guns performance..WOW, incredible customer service? I spoke with a manager, who then spoke with an owner, who stated he thought I had nicked the finish in the gun. WOW, now you are calling me a liar?...I honestly feel insulted and cheated, and both the manager and owner could have cared less. It seems that "Bill Mace's bad habits" will continue well past his 68 years and that instead of "Making Shooting Fun" they will "continue to grow their business" with "[last] place customer service". read more

I never knew this place existed until I rode past them on I-40 yesterday. I thought I'd stop in and see if they had any closeouts on camo. What a great place! Well lit, clean, great selection of hunting gear. The archery shop was great, with a good selection, even at the end of the season. I stopped by the gun counter. They were really busy but I didn't have any trouble finding someone to help me, and he knew his stuff. Found a great little pistol that was on sale at a good price and I bought it completely on impulse. The paperwork only took maybe 10 minutes, it was the fastest I've ever experienced anywhere. One thing I appreciate in a gun/sportsman's store is whether it's friendly to families, women, or people new to shooting. Mace seems to be that kind of place. Some places can be dark as a tattoo parlor and have that smell of testosterone like you find at tactical/military surplus shops in Fayetteville. Not here. These guys are great. I have been going to this store for years and it never lets me down! They always have a wide selection of guns and the prices are pretty great as well. At first they didn't have many knifes but on my last visit they have defiantly up their inventory. The knifes were a little to pricey but in the end you are gonna get what you pay for.
