Delicious! Small plates Tuna Tartar, crunchy corn ribs, grilled shrimp cocktail. All great. Then one of us had the Honey Ginger Salmon which she loved. Then 2 of us shared the Tbone for two which come on a board with potato croquettes,butter milk onion rings,tempura asparagus and a watercress salad. We met here to check out a place for our social club to meet. I think we overwhelmed the one server but he stepped up and we caught up on drinks and food orders. Good job Tim! Prime rib night and it was delicious! There is a lot of ambient noise from conversations but at least you are not trying to talk over loud music. Plenty of parking and seating. Amazing restaraunt! We had a great server as well. Don't decide what you're going to get until you listen to this specials as there are at least a dozen of them. I ordered the crab and avocado salad which was very good and very fresh .The only downside is there was supposed to be music on Fridays and Saturdays and there was no music. A beautiful restaurant and bar area but there needed to be a little bit of ambience in the form of some sort of music when there is not a piano player working. We went to Easter Sunday Brunch, expecting an exceptional brunch and service. We arrived at 11:45, were seated and that's where it started. Ready? 1. The bar was covered with nothing other than carbs, ie. muffins, bagels, sweet breads, candy, and plastic eggs with nothing in them. That was about 40% of the total spread. 2. The desserts took up about 10% of the spread. 3. 25% was an omelet bar, but there was nobody there to prepare omelets 4. The last 25% consisted of prime rib (very good, but cold), ham (cold), three different types of potatoes (none looked fresh), and there was quiche, which I was very excited to see. The quiche had a bunch of different slices of quiche on a cutting board, and it looked like leftovers from old quiches, then there was about four slices of bacon cheese quiches, and a couple pieces of ham and cheeses, and one spinach quiche (quiche lorraine?). I chose one, but there was zero heat rising from any of them, so I touched mine and it was cold. Seriously, quiche without a powerful heat lamp? Same with the meat? The meat heat lamps needed to be turned way up or replaced. Back to my quiche problem. I asked them to warm my piece, so someone came over, got an omelet pan, added butter, then put my piece of quiche in it to heat it up. It was a little warmer, but not enough and now the crust was soggy. 5. Time to pay? Had to wait for our waitress, mind you, we were the only two people in the restaurant. She brought our bill, and after the tax and 20% tip written in for a buffet where the waitress was not very available. We gave her $200 cash, and he waitress was running around the building looking for cash for us as we waited close to ten more minutes. So...for $85 each, we got a crummy and limited Easter Brunch. Suggestions: Invest in quality heat lamps for all your foods that should be served warm, add salad options, soup, deviled eggs for Easter, and something the chef prepared that didn't just come out of a box and put on a platter. Wait staff should not be standing around. Maybe bring around a pitcher of iced water to refill glasses. Ask the customer how the food is, then listen to anyone there that responds. Give them time, don't just race off. We were sad that is wasn't what we expected. We heard the chef is great, it was Easter, but didn't feel like anything was specially made by a seasoned chef. This was a very enjoyable and extremely reasonable experience. We enjoy Friday nights as our date night. As soon as you walk in, you can fill the ambience. The piano playing in the background the vocals were very good. The volume was exceptionally perfect to be able to sit there and talk and still hear the music in the background. The meal was just presented perfectly by the chef himself. Everything was cooked perfectly. The T-bones are just amazing. We ate at the 1i'clock Easter seating. To say that we were disappointed is an understatement. They had an omelet station.. no bacon or sausage, no pancakes, waffles, French toast or even some plain toast! They did have some bagels that looked like they came from a frozen bag. The rest of the carb counter had doughnuts that looked like they came out of a plastic bag and muffins like they were from Costco. The cubed potatoes were cold, they did have halved baked regular potatoes and sweet potatoes ( which were warm and good). The carrots and Brussels sprouts were good-a little cold. The ham was ice cold and the prime rib was cold as well. They had quiche but I didn't know what kind they were. I took a little piece that had balsamic glaze on it and , again, it was cold and dry. The desert table was good but they ran out of quite a few things (crème bruele, cheesecake and chocolate covered strawberries). Overall I definitely would NOT go back again! read more

Extremely Disappointing Experience We went to 88 Keys in Punta Gorda tonight with two other couples. We had been there once before and really enjoyed it, so we were looking forward to introducing our friends to the place. Unfortunately, it was a total disaster from start to finish. We started with drinks at the bar, which were fine once we were served, but we immediately noticed how empty the restaurant was -- almost no one there on a Friday night, which should have been a red flag. Strangely, our bartender ended up being our waiter for dinner in the dining room, which didn't make much sense for a restaurant of this supposed caliber. Two of the couples ordered the "T-bone steak for two" special. The steaks were not cooked properly, and to make matters worse, all the food came out cold. We asked to speak with the chef, and it took 45 minutes before he finally came out. By that time the whole experience had completely unraveled. The food was terrible, the service disorganized, and the overall experience was just awful. After tonight, we'll never go back to 88 Keys -- and it's a shame because our first visit was actually very good. Something has clearly changed for the worse. read more

You're missing out on 88 Keys! Great cocktails, great food, great service! We celebrated a friend's birthday there and had a wonderful evening. The special:Tomahawk Steak for two for only $75!! It started with a fried shrimp cocktail (huge shrimp cooked perfectly), Caesar salad for each person, the main course came on a gorgeous huge board that had the steak, mash, asparagus, fried corn bread, a scallop, grilled mushrooms, onion rings, and a grilled onion. Steak was cooked perfectly. Everything was delicious. Prior to our meal the gave us a huge board of warm grilled pita bread with multiple spread options. They also treated the birthday girl with a chocolate mousse and the Chef was out to talk to us twice. Our server & bar tender were top notch! We ended with night cap at the roof top bar! Started with $10 naan & 4 spread appetizer. Beautiful presentation of naan wedges, olives, shredded parm, with house hummus, smoked fish spread, truffle butter & olive tapenade. Shrimp cocktail next, then, dinner for 2 arrived table side on a cutting board. Tomahawk steak sliced off the bone, onion rings, potato croquettes, grilled & tempura asparagus. Delicious! I can sit for hours and listen to piano music. I had looked forward to spending some time to just relax. The hotel advertises this as part of the hotel, so when we were there the first time it was disappointing to learn they are not open Sundays. We arrived around 8 pm after a rather large debacle of a delayed flight and lost luggage. We decided to eat at 88 Key since we were staying in the hotel. All around, the food was delicious. Our server was incredibly helpful with my gluten issue. I had the tuna appetizer, it was 10/10 delicious in addition to the 88 Keys Salad which was also very tasty. The scallops entree had just slightly too much of a ginger taste for my liking but wasn't bad by any stretch. My boyfriend had the lobster bisque and the prime rib, both of which he said were well executed. Recommend all around! read more

Started our evening with fabulous drinks by Bryce at Perch 360 rooftop bar. Saw an amazing sunset with beautiful views. Went downstairs for our reservation at 88 Keys in the Wyvern Hotel. For over an hour we had this beautiful upscale restaurant to ourselves with a wonderful piano player who after speaking with us is from our area in South Jersey. We ordered the pita bread with fig jam, truffle butter and olive panade which was out of this world along with T-bone steak for 2. Absolutely amazing and for $10 extra got a nice size lobster tail. The chef delivered it to our table with all the sides that was just to die for! Our awesome waitress Corrina was truly fantastic and sent us home with plenty of leftovers. This restaurant is reasonably priced if you're looking for great meal and atmosphere. read more

We've been coming here since they started music bingo with Suncoast DJ Bingo. We had been to Perch 360 before and didn't have a good experience but once we started coming to music bingo, that changed. Diana has been our waitress and she's is amazing! We only missed one or 2 weeks since September. Found out tonight that The Wyvern will no longer be doing music bingo...we will not be back unless that changes and we will let all our friends from Magnolia Landing that would join us know that we won't be back. We will follow Diana and Brad to whatever venue they move music bingo to. read more

This review is for the bar area... stopped in for a nightcap around 8:30 pm. There was another party of 4 sitting at a table and the 2 of us were at the bar so 6 patrons . When we walked in, the bar was a mess, dirty glasses and plates in almost every spot. We sat down anyway and tried to get the bartenders attention, which was tough. Finally he took our order of a beer and one of their specialty drinks. He then went back to washing dishes and organizing the receipts. We got the beer and then he walked away from the bar. Finally we got the other drink, he had to look up the recipe. We thought he might have been new since he seemed like he had no idea what he was doing, but he said he had been there a year. Suddenly, a surly staff member came out with a tub and started putting candles, feathers, and fake microphones all around the already cluttered bar. We asked "what's this for". She said "at 9 we turn into a speakeasy", we asked a few questions but she walked away. She was pretty grumpy. This could be a nice date night place but the customer service sucks. The restaurant was sleek looking and they touted having a new chef back so we decided to give it a try. At 6pm on a Friday night, we were the only people in the place. First red flag! The waitress was nice enough, told us about the special and let us decide on what to order. One of the appetizers was 'the bread plate' served with a tapenade, truffle butter and fig jam but it was served with pita bread which tasted of cooking fuel gas. This would have been much better with a crostini type bread. We also ordered a mushroom flatbread which was the best part of our meal! We decided to go with the special of the evening which was a small filet of yellowtail snapper, 2 scallops over risotto, tempura asparagus (which didn't show up on our plate) cornbread with breaded oysters. The snapper was rubbery and was not fresh, (frozen) no asparagus, breaded and fried cornbread (which tasted like actual yellow cake) under the oysters. Some people have enjoyed this but we did not. For $65 for the special, you'd think you would have fresh fish! Just overall underwhelming. We will not be returning. read more

We love 88 Keys when we want to dine. The restaurant has an elegant presentation - even in the bar area. However. It is not stuffy. Diners are from all walks in life and of varied attire. A lovely place to spend the evening. Wonderful bar with friendly bartenders. Great place to go for drinks and an appetizer too. The menu is not extensive, but it covers all the bases - soup to nuts. Every meal we have enjoyed there has been chef prepared and we appreciate the results. When the crowds come in and you want a nice, relaxed evening out 88 Keys is a great choice. read more

Christmas Day disaster. $100 per person and many choices on the very limited menu was "out" early in the day. All had reservations. No excuse to be out of MULTIPLE entrees on a very limited Christmas menu. My wife had het first $100 chicken dinner as it was all that was left that she liked. Lastly you would think a "piano restaurant" would have music in Christmas Day. Yes it's Christmas but at dinner (without drinks) starting at $100 pp we assumed there would be music done the restaurant is actually a piano bar. We had a party of 5 reserved about a month+ in advance. None of our party who all live in Punta Gorda will return. Rating of maybe 2 of 5 at best in what's described as one of Punta Gorda' s higher end restaurants. read more

88 Keys Florida Restaurant was a disappointment this Thanksgiving. My Thanksgiving Dinner was cut short do to the fact that my mom had to pull out a long piece of hair out of her mouth that was wrapped in stuffing. We had just sat down at a very tiny table that was placed literally in the aisle and when I asked to be seated elsewhere I was told no because they were fully booked. We order a glass of wine and made our way up to the buffet. Not even 5 mins into our meal we no longer had the stomach to eat anything else after there was hair in my mom's food. Very quietly and discreetly we flagged down the women who I believe was the hostess , explained and showed her the hair. She did apologize and offer to only take one meal off the bill. Even though we just had gotten our meals. I did inform her that we no longer were going to continue eating or wanted another plate. I was seated facing the buffet and never did I see anyone go over to the buffet and remove the pan of stuffing. It just kept being severed. When I told the hostess that I did not feel like we should pay for either meal her response to me was " well I did eat some of it " than she said she would bring us a check for the wine only that I did not even get a chance to drink. I'm a Punta Gorda full time resident and have dined at 88 Keys in the past but after this experience and the attitude of the hostess I will not. It's also clearly typed in on the check that the reason for the removal of the meal was hair ! read more

My husband and i have been going to 88 Keys for years. The food is always excellent, service always great and ambiance is amazing.

My husband loves prime rib, so we chose 88 Keys, a small venue just south of the bridge in Punta Gorda. I'm glad we did, as he said the prime rib there was one of the best he had ever eaten. Note, it's a special, only available on Thursday night when we visited. I took a chance on the bouillabaisse, wary because so often it is served over-cooked. This was an outstanding bouillabaisse! Gulf coast shrimp, a half of a lobster tail, sea scallops and some mussels made for a delicious meal. My only complaints/suggestions would be, if you mussels and they aren't open, don't serve them, especially when there are only 3, and I thought the lobster ravioli didn't work--would much rather have had a nice chunk of buttered garlic bread, maybe with a touch of aioli. Service was excellent. We will come back. read more

Wednesday night summer special, 2 for$30! What a great deal! We enjoyed dinner here and rooftop drinks with friends and neighbors. My husband and I enjoyed the salmon and beef tip stir fry entrees. The flavors were great and the attention to detail accentuated the plates. There could have been a little more beef in the stir fry, but it tasted so amazing it made up for it. We both cleaned our plates so obviously we were not disappointed. Great dining experience. On another note, I hear the hotel (Wyvern) is going to be remodeled very soon. Food was very good, price a little above average but still k for the quality. Service was not superior but adequate, should not have to ask for water four times. Ambiance is another matter, room has high ceilings, tables nice distance apart. The bar is open to the dining room which was quite noisy. Great place. Executive chef Josh Booze has done a wonderful job of transforming a former sports bar into an excellent dining facility. We started off with the Harvest Salad and navy bean soup. Prime Rib is superb. Stop in on Thursday and enjoy. Staff is incredible. They are planning a Thanksgiving buffet we plan to enjoy.

So, the service was very good and our waitress was very attentive. Constantly checking her tables to make sure each client was all set. For food, I had the prime rib special that was a good size but just warm. The mashed potatoes could have been creamier and buttery. The beets and goats cheese was excellent. However, the Cesar salad was underwhelming. It was like from a salad in a bag setup. Not worth the price. Went there for thanksgiving. The waitresses did the best she could. Seating was awful we were placed in the middle of a three way isle , so we constantly had to get up to let people by. The food was awful, salty , turkey was cold and mostly chunks of dark meat. Vegetables were cold over cooked and lymph. We booked dinner for 5:00 two weeks in advance . They were no other times open according to Yelp. About 5 days before Thanksgiving the restaurant called and explained their last seating was 4:00 not 5:00 so of course we took it. This is not the first time we got the shaft from this restaurant but it is the last. The waitresses were in agreement with our sentiments. read more
