I lived around the corner from 88 for 2 years. I became a regular customer and ordered many times. Being in Harlem should be taken into consideration for this place. I have gone in to pick up food on many occasions and seen what these people have to put up with. Very often, they respond with to a nasty customer with attitude of their own. I always get a kick out of it when I walk up and be polite and nice and they reciprocate. Despite the fact that 6 nasty customers just went before me. Oh yeah, the food. I think if you are ordering just to get something to eat, you'll be very pleased. They are quick, the food is always right, and the prices are decent. If you are a chinese food critic, then this may not be the place for you to eat. Of all the chinese places that I have been a regular at in my life, these guys are probably the most consistent I have experienced. read more

the best seasoned fried chicken wings .. the rice I was disappointed with because it's not traditionally cooked it's pre-made yellow rice not pan fried rice which is my reason for ordering Chinese food. I now will get something else instead of the rice if I order from them with my chicken read more

Good food especially the sesame chicken . Always good never fails. Also love the chicken wings

It's your traditional hole in the wall Chinese takeout restaurant. There service is very quick and very clean looking. They give a pretty hefty portion size on the combination plates. It is a cash only. read more

It's open again with safety precautions. The egg rolls are big and perfect. If you order a certain amount of food, you can get free sodas or other items. My 12 year old daughter loves their Chicken and Broccoli and disses any attempt to make it by another restaurant. Only downside is the sweet and sour dishes. I have not had it recently, but the previous times I ordered I regretted it. Needs some peppers with it and is usually fried to unsatisfactory dryness. I hope they find a better way of doing it. read more

88 Chinese Restaurant - the inside of the restaurant - Chinese Near Me - New York, New York

What I like about this place is that they were so quick with their delivery. NYC delivery is so slow but this place definitely was number one with delivery. Also I like that it's cheap. We got two combo that included spring roll for dinner that totaled to $16.95. The food was ok. It was everything you'd expect from a cheap dinner. The General Tso was good. The chicken and broccoli was ok but both didn't have a lot of meat. It was mostly rice which wasn't satisfactory. read more

I just moved to New York from LA and this was by far the worst Chinese restaurant I have ever been to in my entire life. The woman at the counter was extremely rude. I do not recommend anyone to go here. They are extremely racist! read more

Went recently for the first time. It was good to me. I gambled and had a large order of beef and broccoli, not knowing what it would taste like. It was tender, broccoli was fresh. sauce had a good flavor. I like how illuminated the business is. But bruh, who charges tax on Chinese food, and why are fried chicken wing prices so high? aaah-aaaaaaaaaaaaaaah read more

Excellent Chinese food all around but when you're getting delivery the Chinese man is extremely rude and sometimes demand a tip.

I love their food, I eat from there all the time and I will continue to eat from there. The only thing that I have an issue with is why do they charge you if you want extra condiments. read more

Messed up my order twice, and this time my egg foo young tasted gritty like if dirt was in my food so I threw it out

I probably won't be ordering from here again. They have free delivery and are a few blocks from my apartment so I ordered from them after I found a menu slipped under my apartment door. The food is decently priced and you get extras if you order over $13 or $23. The delivery guy couldn't find my apartment and called me literally yelling and speaking in incomplete sentences, he was at the building down the street. I tried to clarify my apt number but after several attempts he simply couldn't understand. I ended up calling the store back to clarify. Another 15m before my food came. The delivery guy seemed extremely stressed out. Also some of the sausage had leaked out in the bag because it was jostled. All this is forgivable but the food itself lacked flavor and was all in all a bit disappointing especially after the whole delivery ordeal. I ordered the egg food young and the portion size was fine but the gravy was really bland and sort of oily. read more

Hole in the wall, great food, great price! I'm convinced that Chinese food in New York is so much better than Massachusetts. Mind you, born and raised in Massachusetts! I will def come back here next time I'm in Harlem! read more

88 Chinese Restaurant - The BEST ice tea I've ever had! - Chinese Near Me - New York, New York

I love the ginger chicken and broccoli in garlic sauce. Pretty quick and good NYC Chinese food joint in Harlem.

It's not the best but it's not the worst. You can give them specifics and they follow it through till the end. They have nice pop/soda options and compared to the "chinese food" places in Harlem proper, 88 is the best and the most efficient. It's worth a try. read more

I call and ask if they deliver to me, they say yes and take my order. They didn't ask for my address, but when I gave it, she didn't understand. An hour later, they call, and still don't understand even though I was talking to different person. I give them a cross street and end up texting the delivery guy. Then and only then they tell me I'm too far for delivery. An hour of my time was wasted bc the girl on the phone wouldn't take the time to listen to me, or find someone who could understand. read more

Last night it was my friends birthday, there was a bunch of us here at the apartment and we decided to order Chinese food. We ordered a ton of food, but after an hour of nothing we called. The woman on the phone said the food was on its way. We went downstairs to wait for the food, but nothing. We called again and again, no answer. Finally around midnight (when they closed) we realized we were NEVER getting our food. This morning at 11, we called them to let them know we never received our food. The woman on the phone began laughing and said someone received the order, but we clearly did not get it. We began getting agitated since the woman kept laughing at us saying now that we ordered with another restaurant. We had the menu right in front of us, clearly marked with everyones orders on it in black sharpie. We ordered from them. Clearly this place does not care about customer service and hire incompetent people. She then hung up on us. All we wanted was our food. read more

If you are looking for inexpensive American style Chinese food, 88 Chinese is a good option. Food is made to order and tastes good. I normally order the shrimp with garlic sauce with pork fried rice. Portion size is good, normally lasts me two sittings, and the lunch special is only $6.50 and comes with a drink. The ladies taking the orders can be a little curt, but who really cares so long as your order is correct and your food is good! It's not fine dining, it's fast food. 4 stars :-) read more

One of the few Chinese restaurants with an A cleanliness rating. I always spring for the sweet and sour chicken. Avoid the chicken fried rice, it lacks flavor and had leftover chicken bits for some kind of flavor. Will be back. read more

My favorite take-out Chinese spot in Harlem thus far. If you order to pick-up, your food is almost always ready in 10-15min. They are always polite and accommodating, so long as you're polite in return. Lol. I usually go with the general-tso chicken or chicken and broccoli (never disappointed. Their sweet tea and spare rib tips are A-1 as well. read more

I've lived in this neighborhood for the past 9 years and this is only American Chinese takeout I will order from in Harlem. The prices are reasonable. The food is tasty. And they accommodate substitutions if you pay the difference, if any. One of my favorite dishes is the Ginger Shrimp. It's actually Ginger Chicken on their menu, but I ask to substitute the chicken for jumbo shrimp and pay a few dollars more. read more

Don't bother with this place. I ordered the standard chicken and broccoli with brown rice. Received food and the chicken was under-cooked and rice was crunchy. I called to complain about my order and was told by an obnoxious employee that " the rice is supposed to be crunchy and your chicken is not under-cooked." She spoke perfect English and had the nerve to yell at me and hang up. Here's what I say; there are two many Chinese restaurants in Harlem from which to choose. 88 is off of my list, as are many other Chinese spots in Harlem. It's time for folks to find such service attitudes and poor food quality intolerable. read more

As good as it gets in Harlem. There are sometimes language problems, but in over 5 years of ordering from them our experiences have been very good. Healthy options. Fair prices. Quick delivery. The same guy has been delivering for them for years - always friendly. No complaints! read more
