**Limited menu during Covid.** We stopped here earlier tonight while passing through on a road trip. We got our order to go but they have an outdoor patio. My friend got a half order of nachos which was plenty for one person. She said the ingredients were all fresh and the homemade guac. knocked it out of the park. I had the hand breaded Chicken Fried Steak and it was delish. The green beans and Texas Toast were perfectly seasoned. Next time I'd get the half order because it was way more than I could eat. But I was also crushing on my friend's nachos - so you can't go wrong with either one. Why just 4 stars? The tortilla chips were overdone and the to go order wait was long. Very good food, for a small town food stop. Stopped with the family on a Sunday. Service was great. My wife and I shared a cheese burger with fries and the Cobb salad. The kids got the big nachos (they were massive) and the bean and cheese burrito (very big!). Everything was good, was freshly made, and was exactly what we ordered. I came here based on old posted menus of breakfast served all day and vegetarian options. 11am on Sunday could not get either one unless I paid for a $14 salad with some lettuce and tomatoes. It is a cute place with outdoor seating and cool old vehicles. Husband got nachos and I ate his guacamole, which was definitely not fresh or tasty. He liked his nachos well enough. There were no paper towels in the bathroom and no way to dry your hands. This is probably a good place to come if you aren't vegan like myself. read more

87 restaurant is worth stopping for! My family and I stopped in during a long road trip and we had the pleasure of being helped by Alaina. She was so kind, courteous, and friendly. She gave us some history of the town and some great recommendations for food. The menu here might not be long but we all (5 of us) ordered something different and everyone absolutely loved the food. I highly recommend the chorizo burger, add pepper Jack cheese and an egg. It was fantastic. And to top it all off Alaina's adorable daughter was walking around taking food orders, wiping down tables, and helping out as much as she could. A great breakfast is hard to find, but this place delivers the goods. Two of us had the breakfast burrito, which was filling and literally as big as your face. In addition, I appreciated the fact that - during COVID19- they had spaced out their tables, wore face masks and santitzed btw customers. We travel the roads from Lubbock to Denver often. Clayton is about halfway and this little eatery is the perfect place to stop for a quick meal. The service is fast and small-town friendly. The restaurant is clean and cute. The food is delicious. Today, I got a breakfast burrito that they modified for me to be gluten free. It was bueno! Hubby got the 87 burger with mushrooms and fries. Great restaurant. Ate dinner stopping through town. Food was great, service was great. One lady running all the food running/ orders/ hosting but she did very well managing multiple tables. Delicious burger! I added jalapeños, green chilies, bacon, and Swiss. Fries cost extra and I wish I hadn't payed for them. They were soggy and unseasoned. $16.50 is WAY too much for a burger and fries. I'd give them 5 stars if the fries were crispy and the price was lower. read more

My husband had the Chorizo Burger and said it was excellent and is going to try and recreate it at home. My son ordered the nachos (without all the good stuff-green chilis, lettuce, tomato and quac). Thankfully Ashlyn told him to get the 1/2 order. It was huge. I got the enchiladas with Christmas sauce-2 cheese and 1 beef. It was yummy. Green sauce had a pleasing level of spice. Got Into town late and this was across from our best western we stayed at, we realized once we sat down they closed in about 15 min. Despite that, our server was still very polite... good mix of regulars an folks passing thru. Lousy service. Was fairly quick, but waffle fries were completely cooked and were lukewarm. Had to ask for salad dressing which came about five minutes after the salad. Burger was dry. Perhaps it had been cooked much earlier and then just warmed. Waitress never came by to check on anything. Not sure she had ever done the job before. If she has, she certainly was not trained. When leaving I ran my card and she could not figure how to print a receipt. She went and got someone else to help her. That person showed her how to clear and rerun. I said the screen said it was already approved. The other gal said well if it is charged twice, just give us a call. Sure enough it was run twice. This place has wonderful curb appeal with a small dog area next door gated to let your fur babies off the leash for a bit, this is next to the restaurant its new nice food truck outside area. They were not open yet so we ate at the 87 restaurant. Me and my daughter had the breakfast burritos. They were awesome and we loved their homemade salsa.
