As someone who visits McDonald's frequently, this particular location is one of my favorites. We…read morerandomly stumbled into here for a quick bite without realizing it is the viral fancy McDonald's. First you walk through a hallway of Roman statues and plaques, which take you into a spacious dining hall. They have a full bakery section and plenty of seating. I got to try a few Italy speciality items like the Spinach & Parmigiano Croquettes (3 for €2.69) and Tiramisu (€2.90). When in Europe, you can always order a beer at McDonald's too, which is a treat for adults. The best of all, I was able to score the viral beach towel from here while it's been sold out everywhere else!

Unfortunately, when I first came here on Friday, it was closed for a special event. Thankfully, they were open to the public when I returned the following day. If you had to go to only one McDonald's in Rome, you definitely need to come to this location! Just like any McDonald's in Rome, they're all very easy to find as they had signs throughout the city directing you to the closest one. This place is just south of the Spagna Metro station, very close to the Spanish Steps and embassy. The design of this location was very unique. It was very modern with a little bit of ancient Rome. Ordering was very easy while using one of the kiosks. It was very spacious with plenty of seating. The service was quick, the food was good, and the dining area was kept clean.

It took awhile until it was our turn and to be honest it felt a little chaotic inside. Once it got to us we asked for two different types of pizzas to share. They charge you by weight. Both of the pizzas were pretty good. Their crusts are a little thicker though and pretty filling. I got a pizza that had some very spicy meat on top which was my favorite. The other pizza we got was just okay. Besides their just made pizzas, they also had pastas and other items you can order. The guys behind the counter were nice. We asked for a new pizza fresh out the oven but they told us we had to get the one sitting there to finish it off. There is a casual dining area but it was all full when we tried to sit. Overall it was a mediocre experience.

We ordered & sipped two glasses of wine outside, then placed a variety of dishes to share while they cleared the table: pasta, two small pizzas, baby octopus, Genovese (stewed beef), Arancino, and more wine/beer. I was seated in walk way area and it was a bit busy with people going in and out of restrooms. Ordered Carbonara, Genovese and Aperitivo. I had Carbonara for the first time and I m not a big fan of it. I have to try it again to make sure if it's me or the way the dish taste. Genovese was ok, beef stew was inside of a bread. Aperitivo, I chose spritz which came with refreshing cocktails and three little fried pizza. Overall the food tasted acceptable but wait time for Cabonara was long. It must have been like 30 minutes. I was done eating everything and had to just wait for that. The restaurant was small and this is a classic popular dish. I don't think they should take this long.

We also love a good noodle box - and being able to build our own was fun. My husband and I split a box, we did udon noodles, a dark soy and ginger sauce, and picked a few veggies to add (in addition to the cabbage and egg it comes with). It was awesome to see them cook it right in front of us. The space is small and definitely tucked in amongst the bigger restaurants in the square. However, as the name alludes, it's a good on-the-go meal. It satisfied our need for a dinner on the go to be able to watch the sunset later in the evening!
