This was quite the gem. My dad had been talking about wanting Hawaiian food and I found this place on yelp. The person taking our order was super sweet and even reopened the dining section when we mentioned we had hoped to dine in. It wasn't closing time but it was getting close and they had already turned the lights off. Loved the homey feel and decorations of the dining room. The food was also very good and great portions. They checked in on us while we were dining and didn't rush us out which we appreciated since eating here was much better than taking things back to a hotel room. The service was friendly. Clean seating area. I had the Kalua Pork meal, my husband had the Teriyaki Beef. The food was delicious, but nothing any different than any other Hawaiian restaurant in GP. Although, most of the Kalua Pork I have eaten was always way too salty, this one not salty at all. The one item that stood out for me was the Poke! We had the Spicy Poke, which I would recommend that everyone try! I wish that instead off all restaurants making the same foods, that they would take a risk to be above the rest and add some Hawaiian cuisine that is different and unique to their restaurant. After reading previous reviews , we decided to try this for our one night in Grants Pass. The servers were friendly and the portion was huge . We ordered the teriyaki beef ... wish they did not pour the sauce over the meat , which made it very salty and hardly teriyaki . The other dish was combo Kalua pork and teriyaki chicken. Much better but also extremely salty. Go for the teriyaki chicken without sauce if you order from Obana . The macaroni salad was unlike other Hawaiian versions. You decide if you like it . In fairness, we don't use a lot of salt in our food hence we found all the Obana dish too salty . Maybe you won't . We ate outside which was very pleasant . read more

This place is legit. The quality is fantastic and the people are so friendly and down to earth. The food I have tried is fantastic. Which is the chicken beef and shrimp with rice and Mac salad. They have a lot of other offerings. But from what I've tried, those3 are super delicious. The chicken and shrimp are my favorites. The beef is great too. But the chicken has that fresh off the flame smoke flavor that blends perfectly with the marinade and sauce they use. And everything isn't overly seasoned. All the flavor ratios are perfect. The jumbo prawns they use have the ever so slightest breading that adds the perfect crunch. Add their butter and garlic dip to the equation and it's pure heaven. I was on vacation in Oregon. And was craving food from home. I figured I give this place a try. I placed a phone order for the chicken katsu and the Kalua pig plate. Whoever answered the phone was rude and placed me on hold for more than 20 minutes, and gave attitude. Upon picking up the plates, I've noticed that the Kalua pig smelt spoiled, and the breading for the katsu burnt, didn't mind until I bit into a piece and found out the chicken wasn't cooked throughly. After taking a bite of it, I started feeling sick, and ended up vomiting. I threw both plates away and went striaght to the hospital where they had told me I had salmonella from trying the undercooked piece of chicken. My experience, I will never go here again. And next time I go to Oregon, I will be looking for a better Hawaiian food place that won't be a waste of money. read more
