I'm nearly certain I've left a review before as I even updated their hours for them several months ago, but alas no reviews from me to be found. So, here we go! First, let me say, of any video game store that I have been in in the past couple of years, this staff truly seems to care about customer service. From the moment I walked in, I was greeted and treated very nicely. They answered all of my questions without hesitation. I was looking for a video game for my husband as a gift, but didnt have a specific one in mind. They assisted me in finding something that he would truly love and I ended up coming home with a game that I had never heard of. It ended up being one of the games that he had been wanting for years. I went back months later, this time with my husband in tow. We were greeted and treated very kindly this time as well. All questions were answered and the staff and my husband engaged in a lively conversation. Upon arriving home, all cartridges were in working condition and clean. 10/10 this place is on my bookmarks and we will keep coming back when we're in town! read more

The nerd with lazy eye is looking at the door while talking to me I don't trust him very sketch guy. Had $140 dollar Star Wars helmet ripped me for $20 a joke and he say he'll put me on psp list but every time he say they keep coming and selling but never tells me, i bought hundreds in games I regret buying for these greedy nerds im selling my game systems i go over with a ps5 pro perfectly brand new regular ps5 with disk and Xbox 360 and ps3 the special edition plays ps2 also he lied said it was a regular ps3 to scam me for worth and a ps2. Told me $435 just for the pro then I take them in they lied said they were all broken and damaged so they wouldn't fix them only for scraps parts lol I didn't agree or argue i said how much for all 5 systems he say $400 for all 5 after he told me 450 just for the pro lied wasted my time and said I would be able to get any more money than that anywhere insisted that he would lie again lol. I left took my game systems to GameStop they paid me $950 for everything cash and told me what exactly they did and were totally fair and honest people at GameStop I'll never go back to gay Bit. 0 stars I would go to GameStop all day. Such a rad little shop. I recently took out my old N64 and got my son hooked on Mario Kart. We've stopped by 8 Bit a couple times to pick up "new" games for the console. The staff is very helpful and knowledgeable. We plan to make regular stops to see what new items they've gotten in stock. Amazing place for all your retro and arcade needs! Newer games and systems as well but I would say this place shines if you are into some Of the more obscure, hard to find games and systems. The proprietor is extremely knowledgeable and seems very friendly and up for a chat about gaming, gaming systems, the history of the medium or anything in between. What does a nerd do when he vacations in Santa Fe? Visit museums or art galleries? Hike? Soak in the city's thriving nightlife? No, he scopes out the local video game store and buries his face in Atari cartridges. I didn't expect much from this tiny one-man operation, but I was impressed with the selection, the owner's knowledge, and the competitive pricing. For a store roughly the size of a broom closet (okay, maybe two broom closets), the selection is varied and features games for a wide variety of systems, many of them uncommon. In the 45 minutes I was there, I spotted cartridges for Atari 5200, 7800, Intellivision, Colecovision, Famicom (the Japanese version of the NES), and even the TI-99! The popular retro systems (e.g., NES, SNES, Genesis, etc.) are also well represented. If you're into current-gen gaming, 8 Bit has you covered, too, with a impressive selection of PS4, Xbox One, Wii U, and Switch titles. From the moment I entered the store, I could tell that the owner was passionate and knowledgeable about video games. When I asked if he had "H.E.R.O." for the Atari 5200, he knew immediately that he did not but that the 2600 version was in stock. Whenever someone would call and ask a question about a game or system, he would reply without hesitation. He must have sensed our mutual passion about the hobby, because he engaged me in conversation about my favorite games and systems. The pricing at brick-and-mortar gaming stores is often considerably higher than online retailers, but that's not the case at this store. As I was perusing games for various systems, I noticed that the prices were a few dollars lower (on average) than what I've seen on Amazon and eBay. I bought gently used copies of "Kirby and the Rainbow Curse" for Wii U and "Has Been Heroes" for Switch, each for about $2 less than the cheapest used copy available on Amazon (I checked). If you're a gamer and live in Santa Fe, then 8 Bit Retro Games is a no-brainer. Whether you're into Atari, Nintendo, SEGA, Xbox, or PlayStation, you can't go wrong here. Forget about GameStop and support your local mom-and-pop gaming store. read more

We drive 4.5 hours to come here. The owner and is family are amazing and knowledgeable. They were so happy with the items they purchased. Staff answers all of their questions. Selection was great and a better value than EBay. read more

Fantastic selection and service from this game shop. Honestly, Santa Fe was one of the last places that I expected to find a mom-and-pop video game shop, but I was extremely pleased with what's going on here. They have consoles and games from every era to please everyone. I unfortunately forgot his name, but the guy working here was extremely nice and helpful (dark hair, glasses). I ended up picking up a few things that I had needed (Gamecube memory card) and something I didn't know I needed before I got here (Chrono Trigger symphonic CD). The "owner" is a very nice gentle man. Highly recommend all friends and family to buy there system and devices here. If there's any problems they usually try to help fix it right away. This place is a prime example of how NOT to run a business. We took a PS2 in to be fixed. We were never told it would take 6-8 weeks for repair. After 4 or 5 weeks, we kept trying to find out what was going on with it. We were repeatedly lied to by the employees. They repeatedly made excuses for why the owner wasn't around or calling us back. When we finally got the PS2 back, it only played a few games. When we took it back because it wasn't repaired. we were told we could buy a refurbished machine. Are you kidding me!!!? Santa Fe, do not waste your time with these jokers. Go to "We Buy Video Games" in the SF Place mall. They are a far better run company than 8 Bit will ever be. And they can actually repair your system! read more
