It's so bad that, if I keep looking, it may seem that I approve their price hikes or think they are acceptable. Sad end to my relationship with an erstwhile cool store.

I remember a time when this place was the go to for all your entertainment from movies to cd's and even cool unique novelties not found anywhere else. These days it's all about the digital era and with so much competition out there it's not hard to imagine why FYE has lost its luster. They have a decent selection of movies, and still carry CD's along with some trendy novelties such as Funko Pops, imported candies, and stuffed animals along with small electronics including vinyl players. It's basically a smaller version of the last remanent of the beloved Hastings. Unfortunately they are slightly higher priced and even with their promotions some of the items you can find at another competitor for lower prices. The customer service is basically take it or leave it. No one greets you when you walk in, no one offers to help, you're lucky to even get anything other than a total and your items placed in a bag by a teenager who clearly doesn't wanna be there. At this point you might as well be coming up to self checkout like the ones at Walmart because that's the customer service your gonna get. I don't like to leave a negative review but I have to say I feel the end of the road for FYE. We had a good run didn't we?

This is a good place to come for books if you're near Coronado Mall. We are members of their…read moreloyalty scheme too, as we buy lots of books. If you are like us in that sense, the loyalty scheme is good value. There are two reasons we are not fans of their coffee shop: first, they have one of those "dark pattern" card payment devices. It makes it very hard when you are paying to leave no tip. You have to keep hitting the damn "no tip" part of the screen over and over for it to work. You should know that this is a deliberate choice on the part of the management. When they buy the card readers, they can choose ones that make it hard for someone NOT to leave a tip. It's a dark pattern you can investigate on YouTube. And it's a really evil thing to do. Shame on the sleazy manager who made that decision! It should be illegal and they should be punished. Second, and this is a problem going back YEARS, if you get a hot drink, it is very likely it will be super hot, like nuclear hot, practically burning through the cup. It will be at least twenty minutes before it's a safe temperature to drink. You think I'm kidding? I'm not, and you've been warned. PLUR, baby! Bonus complaint: My God in heaven, they interrupt with harsh and seemingly unnecessary messages for staff over the loudspeaker very, very often. I know it's not a library, but it is a bookstore. And people are trying to engage with books. Shhhhhut up, already!

The staff at Barnes & Noble Booksellers was very helpful on November 26, 2025 when I inquired about…read morethe location of a new book. The first young person who helped me directed me upstairs. Perfect. I found one lone copy, but where are the other 39 that she mentioned? I needed 3 copies, 2 as gifts for Christmas and an upcoming birthday. I looked high and low. Nothing. So I approached the older man upstairs. He finally exclaimed, "Ohhhh, the rest of these are being retained for a class, so what I can do is order for pickup for you." I appreciated the kind service, but I had to head back home to the southeastern part of the state soon. It's two stories and quite spacious even with many others shopping. The cafe towards the back was super loud. This is a nice location in what is referred to as Uptown Albuquerque, NM, at the Coronado Center Mall.

They even have a frequent buyer card! 10 stamps gets you a $10 credit! Records come with a semi-guarantee to play. I really can't take advantage of that since I'm from out of town. They're just moving in, so I couldn't see exactly what all they sell. So for my next trip, I'll make a stop. The location has changed, they're on Central now.

How To Buy Records At "We Buy Music"…read more ~ Overview The venue has a large selection of LPs, mostly in uncategorized boxes marked "New Arrivals". The owner is nice enough, but I don't chat. Other reviewers say he knows things, or use other descriptions. My preference is rare jazz instrumentals or rare Americana on a defunct record label that is not on the internet. I need to research thoroughly before I buy. After several visits I finally bought some rare albums. I was very curious about pricing. ~How To Deal With No Price Tags "New Arrivals" are not tagged. It's a tough way to shop. To the store's credit, prices fluctuate and these LPs might stay on the shelves for several years, and it's a one-man operation. Connect to Discogs.com, find your record, and look at the "Median" price, or seller "total" price that includes shipping. Now you're armed with pricing knowledge. ~ Procurement Procedure You Should Know Take the LPs to the desk, then browse some more because it takes several minutes per album to price it. The owner checks the disc, adds sleeves if missing, then goes online (perhaps Discogs or some other database) for pricing info, then places a red price tag on the cover. His rates hover around the median on Discogs, but We Buy Music is not cheap per se. However, you already did your research and you know what is a good price or not. Some LPs are already tagged and returned to the bins unsold. Some of these returns are overpriced. ~ Make The Acquisition You'll get a store stamp card that accrues $10 credit for every $100 spent. You'll spend a lot on rarities. You might not get a receipt. ~ Open Seven Days Morning To Dusk The store is open often with hardly any customers. It's an apparent warehouse as storefront. With the owner's knowledge and large collection, he probably sells online through several portals although the business card has no web address. ~ We Buy Music Has The Largest Selection, But No Prices Or Sales The vendor is tops for selection, but no true bargains. Sometimes Nob Hill Music, Mecca, and Antiques and Things have sales, and albums are tagged. If you're lucky, you might find a rare LP at a flea market or thrift store, but don't count on it. ~ I'm Not A Vinyl Collector Or Audiophile My priority is the music, not the medium. I buy rare LPs, digitize them to wav on good gear, then resell them. If it's on Spotify/Tunepat, I'll download it there and add it to my collection. I'm not an audiophile, I don't sit in front of fabulous speakers and listen to every nuance. MP3 is fine: at home, on the bus, low riding, etc.

Gamer's…read moreAnonymous - particularly this location - is fantastic and makes retro & modern game buying an enjoyable experience. They had a poster by the entrance that caught my eye on my most recent trip - they sell a SNES handheld console! It is fantastic. I was able to try it out because they had a used one for sale the day I was there. After playing on it for a few minutes, I knew I must have one and now I've fallen down the wormhole of classic SNES games. Pricing on the Supaboy S and the games I bought were all fantastic. I was not familiar with pricing, so I did a little peeking on eBay before making a big purchase and all of the games were very very good prices. I expected to pay a good bit more to buy local, but GA seems to price their cartridges for about the same as they're selling for on eBay give or take. The Supaboy system was also a good price - it was available a few bucks cheaper online, but I'm literally talking about less than a 10% difference and buying local means having a great store like this AND not having to wait. I have checked out the other Gamer's Anonymous on the westside and I liked this location more. The staff here is friendly, approachable, and knows their stuff. This location also has some fun games playing on retro systems to let you relive some fun memories for freeeeeee! I'll be back! Update: ended up swapping the handheld Supaboy for a genuine Nintendo console a few days later. The store was fair to me - I had opened and used the Supaboy, so they did deduct a percentage of what it was worth to trade it out - but the process was easy. I would continue to recommend them.
