This station for decades has always had a pretty good reputation for service and smogs. Knowing it…read morehad been sold in recent time I still did not hesitate to take my car here for the bi annual smog. Welp, my car didn't even make it that far as a check engine light came on and I was told there was no point in doing the smog as it would not pass until the death red light was extinguished. The guys here were very helpful and knowledgeable. Lorenzo explained by physically showing me under the hood what needed to done, how long it would take and how much of my life savings would be drained to complete this. While the dollar amount is high, for not having my car ever seriously serviced, I understood why. The decision to leave my car was easy , as Lorenzo's effort and time to educate me and explain in detail what needed to be done was comforting, I was confident my car was in great hands. While they had my car, Lorenzo called and said he noticed I would need an oil change soon and asked if I wanted him to do it as he had the car opened up already. I was hesitant at first, but just had him do it as I did not want to make another appointment in a couple of weeks for oil. Finally, a couple of days later and I was picking up my car. Lorenzo went over what he did. Took the time to show me what he changed out. Compared my parts to the new ones he put in , and it was like night and day, or clogged to unclogged. Let me know how my MPg's should show a difference and let me know of a couple of other things I should get done for safety reasons or looked at without any pressure of them doing it. I checked out with the cashier, paying exactly what I was quoted and the owner was so nice in giving g me a discount on my after the fact oil change. As I was leaving the owner, Gus came out and thanked me personally for trusting them with my car and for my business. That was awesome and memorable as now days, it's rare anyone says thank you or shows gratitude, and maybe even more rarer that it would be the owner of an establishment. Finding a service station that is trustworthy, knowledgeable, transparent , has integrity and fair in pricing is just as rare. But here it is. If your car is in need of any type of service or needs to be looked at, come see the guys at Old Orcutt Kwik Stop first. If they cannot fix it , they will advise you on who can , and at the very least, you will leave a little more knowledgeable about your car then when you first drove in. And as an added bonus, you might have a great chance of meeting the new owner Gus, guaranteed, he will make you smile.

Costco Gas - Gas station hours

Costco Gas

We've been to this particular Costco gas station a number of times on our trips up and down the…read more101. Normally it's all good. Last visit, on Monday evening, 1/19/26, it wasn't the best experience. First, despite not being that crowded there were a few other drivers that don't seem to understand how to park their cars in such a way that others can move past them in the center lane. Two in particular didn't straighten out when they parked, so they were blocking the through lane and impeding others from getting to a tank. Okay, we waited that out, shaking our heads at the cluelessness. Everyone wants to be able to gas and go; getting back on the road. That was being adversely affected by a couple of drivers who didn't "get it". Finally, it was our turn. Upon the finish of the gassing up cycle, there was a weird popping sound when the automatic shutoff on the pump handle instead of stopping, it kept going. There was also a small leak in the hose which was dribbling extra gas onto our car. Thankfully, there was an attendant close by who hurried over and helped my husband get the handle under control. As it was, there was gas on the exterior of our car. It was startling, and not in a good way. It could have been a serious situation if fumes were accidentally ignited. My husband thankfully didn't get gas on his skin or clothes, but it was a close call. The attendant did apologize, but that was all. I would hope that pump would immediately be taken out of service. He was working on cleaning up the gas on the pavement as we were leaving the area. Scary stuff! When we turned on the ignition that cabin of the car smelled very pungently of gas. I suggested that we go nearby ASAP and get the car washed as we still had a two hours' drive to get home. This just served as a reminder that filling the car with gas isn't a routine activity to not take seriously. Being present mentally is something to really keep in mind. This isn't a situation one would normally imagine could happen at a Costco, but that's why they're called accidents when something goes wrong out of the blue.

Cheapest gas around. Several pumps. Clean & well lit. Attendant on site. Handicap help available.read more

Conserv Fuel - Inside

After several previous good experiences at this station we visited again last week. This time it…read morewas to use their car wash. We'd filled up nearby and had a mishap with a faulty gasoline hose. That resulted in gas being spilled on the exterior of the car and a very unpleasant gas vapor smell inside. We went over to Conserv Fuel. Dear Hubby went inside and bought the simple wash code. Then we got in line. There were only two cars in front of us and we wondered why it was taking so long. We learned that unlike conveyor-belt style washes, this one is quite different. There isn't a track to follow, so an attendant isn't needed. Instead, you are prompted by lighted signs and an eerie exterior loudspeaker when to drive into the wash tunnel. Then the washing machinery moves back and forth over your vehicle multiple times. There is a pass for the wash cycle, then the rinsing, and then you slowly creep forward to take full advantage of the drying phase. DH chose the touchless version, but you can also have "light touch". The touchless didn't clean the exterior as thoroughly as one might have liked, but it did get the gasoline off the paint, and the overall washing experience cleared away the bulk of the smell. I would say that the cycle time is significantly longer than the kind of wash we are used to at other stations. It helped us solve the problem of the moment, and that's a good result.
