The only challenge was the meat was a little stringy. Plenty of meat and coleslaw He really liked his fries - not easy to get an excellent from him but the fries got' em!! Mom had a pepper steak and I think that's the fastest I've seen her gobble up a sandwich. The meat was chewy and well seasoned. Cheese does not overpower making it a good combo with the peppers and onions. I had the Father Joe - meatball sub. I know an unusual choice but I've been dying for a good one for a while. This one didn't disappoint. Spicy sauce with perfectly sized meatballs made from beef, not pork. Have to also say something silly. Their soda fountain was great. C lately wherever I've gone sodas have felt off. Their mix was just right - I always have Dr Pepper. Hands down the fries were a huge hit. Mine were garlic and parsley. We enjoyed that they were crispy on the outside and soft inside. The staff was friendly and the interior reminded me of a cross between Philly and NY - brought back some nice childhood memories.

Over the last few visits in the last six months I've noticed the meat quality, overall, has gone down. The meat tends to have chewy, gristly bits throughout, often resulting in me spitting bites into napkins and losing my appetite, not to mention being very cautious not to draw attention from other patrons and turning them off. Yesterday was the worst experience. The entire sandwich was unappealing. It was not only chewy but the flavor was off. My wife and I dabbled at our garlic fries and made our way. Sadly, we have lost our desire to return.

There's some outdoor seating and an indoor seating area in the back, along with a salsa‑to‑go bar. The tortillas really make or break a taco in my opinion, and these corn tortillas are thick, soft, warm, and amazing. Great taco options, fast and friendly service. Street parking can be a little tough, but worth it. They also make delicious agua frescas! Our go‑to taco spot in City Heights.

I ordered 3 adobada, 1 carnitas, 3 carne asada, 3 cabeza, and 3 rolled tacos. All the tacos came with flour tortillas which were on the thicker side. The thickness of the tortillas were almost comparable to arepas. The adobada was flavorful but I'm used to other places adding guac which was not the case here. The cabeza was not as soft and fatty. The rolled tacos were just ok. There's a salsa bar in the back. They give you the sauce lids when you pay so it's a limited amount that you can help yourself to. There is a decent amount of seating available. In terms of cleanliness, this is not it.
