I've only been here twice to fill up on gas. The pumps aren't clean by any means; in fact, the one I was using had the 87 octane label ripped off from the button! Why would someone do that?! Nevertheless, the pump did get the job done for me, but I do want to caution that on both of my visits, the pump I was at was spilling out liquid right before I inserted into the fuel tank of my rental car. Clearly, it has seen better days, and speaking of better days, I also agree that the area doesn't look safe. Might I add the words "barren" and "dilapidated" to that list as well? Either way, I would only recommend for a quick in and out during the day time. There's a Valero just a couple blocks west of here, but kind of out of the way of the 10 since this station is literally right off the freeway. Look for the Laredo St exit as that's where the gas station is located. If you're traveling northbound on the 10, it's literally right there that there's no way you can miss it. If you're traveling southbound, make a left, cross the freeway underpass, and it will be to your left. For eats, there's a McDonalds next door to the Shell, and one more building over is a Mexican restaurant. Is the gas expensive here? No compared to California lol. But compared to other parts, I would say so. The first time I fueled up, it was $3.19 per gallon. The second time, it went up 8 cents per gallon. When I fueled up at Buc-ee's between those two visits, it was less than $3 per gallon. I didn't have an issue with paying by card both times, but oddly enough, after my second trip, my card started having issues on the ensuing transaction when I went to get dinner. I confirmed that the dinner was the culprit of my card declining, but was also told that my visit to this Shell could have triggered something that caused my card to decline the remainder of my trip. I would have given 3 stars, but because of this mess, as well as Fernanda mentioning issues with credit cards at this location, I'm choosing to drop one additional star here. If I make a return visit to San Antonio, I'm going to avoid this Shell. I'd recommend going to the nearby Valero instead. Or maybe I should go all the way to New Braunfels just to visit Buc-ee's again lol.

But this one in downtown San Antonio was the worst. When we were in El Paso, we had to wait 10 seconds to get a new bottle of creamer and the guy was so apologetic. He has his two free coffee coupons for the delay so every morning of this trip we've been excited about going to QT and having breakfast and coffee. But san Antonio was a complete disappointment. We had to wait 10 minutes to get some of the finally bring out creamer and the gentleman next to me another customer said wow she didn't have to have such an attitude. So I said OK good it's not just me. The app didn't work and a ton of employees standing around texting when myself another customers were looking for help. Only reason I gave it two stars instead of one it's because it was an inner city gas station, which I'm sure gives them a lot of problems. Two of their four coffee machines were down and many of their pull handle coffees were empty with just water coming out. Of the machines that were working, we had to let the staff know that they were out of coffee. Only one gentleman who is running a register seemed to be really trying out of the whole staff.

This tiny Shell Express Mart fit the bill exactly. Normally I'm a bit reluctant to stop in South San Antonio, but this store was clean, well-kept, well-staffed and well-stocked. It was an easy-off, easy-on from the interstate, and served as a refreshing oasis on a long trip to South Texas. The bonus of the trip was that we got to learn about chamoy. My friend was checking out an end cap of Mexican candies and what not, and came across what appeared to be a bag of blood. Upon further inspection, it turned out it was a dill pickle in chamoy. We weren't about to buy one, but it set off a whole new round of Wikipedia once we got back into the car to learn what chamoy was. How often can you claim you stopped at a convenience store and became better educated? That's worth at least one extra star.

No issues at all. Now the food was...well it looked great! Just wasn't executed well. The taste was there though. I got the street tacos, which was 3 regular sized tacos on white corn tortillas. They grilled up the onions and a jalapeño fresh. They added some oil, and 'cooked' the tortillas. But they just took the meat out the warmer and put it in the shells in the container. That was whack. The red salsa was good. The green salsa was not. The actual food was disappointing because the tortillas fell apart soon as I bit into em. A small thing of beans came with it- I don't mess with beans like that. The order came to $10 and some change.

When I need a cup of sugar..Or eggs I need for a recipe.. this or that..My list is endless that Molina's has saved me from leaving downtown and having to go to a big box store for that ONE thing I desperately need! And now about the staff... Since I'm mosDefinitely one of their many regulars and because of this.. I know EVERY single one of their staff and just the same.. They all, including the owner, Know me very well and always go above and beyond for me and treat me with the utmost respect.. If there's something that they're out of that I'm there for.. they (their staff and at times when the owner is there, she as well will ALWAYS ALWAYS write down and make a list of the things I had originally came for and within a mere few days, I'll stop by and it's usually one of their lovely employees inform me that what I had been looking for is back in stock... Now..Tell me how many other corner stores happily and proudly deliver THAT level of QUALITY service and follow through? Yea..NONE. PLUS! From the moment they open until they lock their doors they have onsite security officers there! Now -The owner- She's wonderful, very professional and truly Kind. A year or so ago.. I was talking with one of her employees about a... A rather awkward yet serious issue I had with one of the individuals that had been sent from the security company she had a contract with that were supposed to come there to enforce "security" To the point where i found myself avoiding the store if I thought he might be there..Bc he harassed me every time I would swing by the store for one thing or the other.. Finally one evening I went in to the store and it was actually one of her very professional employees that just came out and asked me about the situation with this individual and my gosh was I thankful they asked me about it.. And I was Ahhh!! Oh my gosh yall HELP!! I even shared with them that how I had been avoiding coming.. And just so happened that the owner was in the back and came out to the front bc I think she could hear bits in the back.. And she IMMEDIATELY just started apologizing (so so sincerely) And was so sorry from ALL aspects and assured me (and I believed her 1000%) That to not worry I wouldn't EVER have to see this individual EVER ever again and she would be addressing this IMMEDIATELY.. And I said.. I am so NOT the type to cause drama or..ya know..Do anything that might cause a fuss... And she made me feel so.. So HEARD and understood. I do get that this is a rather long review for your lil corner store...or rather MY CORNER STORE But from ownership to her employees.. Who all know me.. Every time I go there.. Raise the bar to any corner store from our downtown area to across this city. Much love yall
