The House Roots Coffee Valley Blend that they use for their Espresso is rich and layered. It's not merely "coffee-tasting." Any good Americano that comes from excellent beans should be more than just that. The hints of peach and hazelnut is most noticeable at first, while the lingering taste evolves to unsweetened chocolate. The selection of whole beans are also really good, making it hard to choose from. I have had a few of their Single Origin bags before, and while they are honestly more difficult to wrangle consistency in flavor and taste when pulling a shot of espresso at home (Single Origin can be like this), the results are worth it. This time around, I'm going to try a new bag I have not tried, the Ethiopia Uraga Gogogu (Landraces Washed) from Guji. Tasting notes are Candied Melon Dried Cherry, and Oolong Tea. The aroma is already so good, so I can't wait to try this at home!
