Incredibly, all 3 of the 2022 runner-up were in Virginia as I live in Anne Arundel County, MD, but that's just how it worked out with Jirani Coffee House being the furthest from my home at a staggering 53 miles away. It was one of those strange Saturdays where I ended up further and further from my home throughout the day. There was something expensive I was shopping for (bed) where I wanted to test in person as opposed to buying online without knowing. It was in a bedding store in the Tysons area, which I ended up buying from them in the end. Then, there was an astronomy Meetup out at the Air & Space Museum out in Chantilly, so I was like I'm already out in Tysons, and in the 11 years living in the DMV, I need to visit this location of Air & Space. The astronomy Meetup was canceled due to overcast weather, which I didn't realize until after I got there, but I enjoyed the museum until closing time. I weighed options and saw a coffee & comedy Meetup even further from my home in Manassas, which I decided to do since the astronomy event was canceled, and I had already driven all that way. Experience at Jirani: This was a cute coffee house in historic downtown Manassas. The iced chai was excellent, and the staff was friendly. Then, the comedy at nearby ART Factory was great too as was the museum which had some free wine & hors d'oeuvres. If I'm ever in Manassas, I'd definitely try to get back to Jirani!

You grab a tray, place a piece of wax paper on it, grab a set of tongs, and select what you want from a very large array of baked goods. I chose three items to get a taste of things: Quiche Lorraine, 4 Cheese Quiche, and Hash Brown Bread with Ham & Cheese. And a small cold brew with Half n' Half. When I got to the register - I requested my baked goods be heated up - and paid with Apple Pay. I took my meal to a table and sat down to eat. All 3 of my items were barely warm. They needed to be significantly hotter. I don't know if this is their standard - or perhaps I should have gone back up and requested they do better. But I was hungry - and so ate the two quiches - and I tasted the Hash Brown Bread. I could not tell if there was hash browns, ham, or cheese in it. It was rather disapppointing. The cold brew was the highlight of the visit. It was strong and tasty! Service was good. I doubt I will return. #ParisBaguette

For sandwiches, my go to is the O Honey on a croissant. The honey butter just adds a sweet flavor to a very hearty and savory sandwich. For drinks, it all depends on my craving. I've had the butterscotch latte and it was very enjoyable. If you don't want something too sweet, I would probably stay away from that one. My go to pastry is one of the poptarts that they have in the case. The vanilla one was fine, but the strawberry one was amazing. Both super flakey and more filling than other places I've been to that sell their own rendition of a poptart. The space is big enough to where you can hangout with friends or get some work down, and the employees are super friendly and helpful. Definitely a go to spot when in the area.

The default vanilla latte isn't overly sweet, which is good. The regular latte is pretty well pulled. Not over extracted, but a little too much milk for my preference. My wife had an English muffin with an egg. It tasted as good as a 2 ingredient dish could taste. Or at least those 2 ingredients. My raspberry crumble was also good, but could have used more raspberry. I prefer to taste the raspberry as the predominant flavor and in this bar it was a bit masked by the crumble. Still enjoyable though. It's a bit tight inside and typical of an independent coffee shop. Wooden floors and something to look at wherever you turn. Definitely a decent place to grab a cup of coffee if you are in old town. We haven't been here in the evening, it they do have a decent beer list for later in the day.

We usually stop by every other week as my kids and husband are getting their haircut at the old town man cave. It is definitely a staple in old town, Manassas. The service is always amazing. The staff is always so nice and so kind and considerate. I enjoy going in there and getting a chance to talk to them and everything too. The ambience is amazing because it's decorated with local artists and letting them sell their designs in the shop. It's the perfect little hometown right here in old town.

The owner is from Colombia, and there's a beautiful portrait in the shop representing coffee from her family's farms, which adds such a personal and meaningful touch. Some food was brought to us, some sat out on the counter forever (because the buzzers don't work) where other customers picked up their orders. Who knows how much spit ended up on the food! We kept munching and kept thinking something is missing. We looked under the bread and didn't see what was stated on the menu so we finally asked and were told they were out of what we ordered. The multi-grain bread was fresh, not toasted, covered with a decent amount of cream cheese, capers, smoked salmon - which was fresh and very mild-tasting - and plenty of fresh dill and thinly sliced cucumbers (never had cukes on a lox sammie - interesting/unusual addition). The presentation was nice. A small side salad of fresh greens and a vinaigrette accompanied the toast. It was pretty good. Not a ton of flavor in the meal, but it was fresh and good (not sure it's worth $13). The green tea was refreshing. I'd return if/when I'm in the area again. Wouldn't go out of my way, though.
