BUT what is up with the owner keeping the tips if you pay and include a tip on your credit card?!?!!! That is outrageous and just plain WRONG! We had the caramel milk cake, the caramel avalanche latte, and the banana bread matcha…read more First, I was visibly confused at what to order. When this happens, you want the person taking the order to express an interest in helping me make a decision, based off of what they've tried, feedback they've seen from past orders, and stuff like that. The worker seemed very much like, I just work here, attitude. So I got no help on what to order. Also, the reason I came here was because I saw on their website that they are top 100 coffee shop according to yelp. I didn't think anyone would lie about this, but MOTW is not on the 2025 list of top 100 coffee shops? https://www.yelp.com/article/top-100-coffee-shops-2025 So there is a chance this is just made up, or at the very least very outdated laurels that they're holding onto. I think on all fronts this was a poor culinary experience. Milk cake might not be my thing but I didn't enjoy it. The banana bread matcha basically tasted like if you grinded an actual banana bread into a purée and you were just drinking it, and with a hint of matcha I guess. Definitely don't order if you want a matcha. The caramel avalanche iced latte tasted like there's some kind of coffee base, and they basically tried to drown it out with caramel. I mean, what else did I expect from a drink with avalanche in its name? Except it didn't even taste sweet like there's barista promised, it just tasted very bitter and like there's flavor is drowned out by caramel and there was no coffee component. I went to another coffee shop in the area to confirm this, and the difference between this and a real caramel machiatto is night and day, I don't know what kind of person actually likes this drink or why it exists on the menu. A brief comment on the vibes, it's clean and there was a lot of seating, honestly a little Sus that there wasn't a lot of people there on a Sunday morning, I've seen other cafes in the area be far more packed, so that might also say something about how people feel.

I also got the Vanilla Coconut latte, which basically tasted like a coconut latte, so if you love coconut it would be your jam. Service was fine, the folks working there were pleasant. It has lots of bright natural lighting, and plenty of seating, but I do wish the chairs were more comfortable. This isn't a place I would bring a laptop to set up shop and work for a few hours, personally, but others may feel differently. Parking lot had plenty of space as well, which was great. If I'm in the area again I would go back.

(Turn on your speaker for the vids to get a better sense of the environment.) This place is more like an institutional cafeteria in decor, activity, and high ambient noise with too many hard surfaces making for an unsettling experience. Don't come here thinking you're going to quietly ease into the day with a cup of coffee and croissant contemplating the meaning of your existence. The floor plan at this location more closely emulates its major French-inspired competitor (also corporate South Korean) and a much condensed bakery offering than the Naperville (Ogden Ave.) location. You pick your own goods from various cases and get your coffee at the counter. The counter service has a disjointed workflow and they can't seem to get to the point where you leave the counter with all of your order, having to wait for your coffee or some other item. They then yell out (yes, yell) your name over the background din. You have to go up and ask if they just said your name. It's actually sort of funny, and a bit annoying. I do have to say the food itself is actually pretty good but nothing near what you would actually experience in Paris, but still good, flavorful. The coffee holds up to scrutiny as well. Though Tous Les Jours seems to offer consistently good everyday food quality, this location, overall, due to the noise levels and semi-sterile environment, resulted in an unenjoyable experience--I would not be back to this location as there are too many better alternatives.

I've been exploring more Middle Eastern cafés lately, and this one stood out in the best way. I ordered a V60, and honestly it was one of the best cups of coffee I've ever had. You can see the care and attention they put into the process, from the precise brewing to serving it with a small pot so I could enjoy the rest at my own pace. The flavor was incredible, smooth and rich. I also tried the pistachio cheesecake, which was absolutely delicious perfectly balanced. Maybe a bit to much chocolate on topo. The presentation matched the taste, and it paired beautifully with the coffee. The café itself has a wonderful atmosphere thoughtfully decorated and very inviting. You can tell a lot of effort was put into creating a warm, stylish, and welcoming space. Between the excellent drinks, the tasty desserts, and the inviting vibe, I left very satisfied and already looking forward to coming back. Highly recommend Shaghf Café if you're looking for a quality coffee experience!
