As far as Gas Stations go, this Chevron really deserves a fair word…read more Sure it was closed for a while but they reopened a year or so ago and it's now a reliably A-OK place to fill your tank and shop for snacks when you exit West on I-5 to La Costa Ave. It's awesome that the credit card prices for this station's gas are actually the same as the "discounted" cash only prices at the Mobil Station located approx. 1/2 mile South on 101 in Leucadia! What's also COOL about this place is that many of the people who stop here are locals and are cheerfully willing to initiate a friendly conversation while you are filling up. At first this unnerved me, since I moved to the area from SF and LA, as I mistakenly thought that I was gonna be "jacked" when complete strangers began speaking to me. My initial responses were therefore pretty taciturn as I discreetly began un-clipping the lil ol pepper spray canister in my pocket! What's NOT COOL is that the entrances/exits to this station are on a road that quickly merges from two lanes to one and certain douche-bag drivers will "floor it" in to the merging lane unaware that there are also cars trying to enter and leave the station. Just about every weekend I see near misses here as people almost get broadsided by these clueless speeding dipsh*ts! What's the rush people?!

This has to be the nicest Shell gas station I've been to in my life…read more I had to go in to pay for gas and they actually had a whole display of treats for pups at the front entrance. They had lots of snacks and treats for humans too. The gentleman ahead of me in line asked if he could have a dog treat. The smiling gentleman at the register whips out a big container of the giant sized dog treats as if it was some super sized dog trick or treat. I was next. He says," Take two." Smiling and laughing. Pleasant, happy elevator music was playing and any other time I would have bought snacks but was in a bit of a rush. Never have I reviewed a gas station. This Shell was truly exceptional. One of the few simple courtesies was always being able to use the air pump. Suddenly, that's been taken away unless you buy gas right then, with the attendant blaming the owner. It's petty, short-sighted, and shows zero appreciation for repeat customers. They'll lose far more in revenue from us (and others we know) than they'll ever gain from nickel-and-diming people over air.
