Oh my! The pies kind of look like homemade individual sized pizza pockets with either spinach, chicken, veggie or zatar. They're on the bottom shelf in the picture. All kinds of pastries from savory to sweet. I was eyeing the chicken pie for a future visit during lunchtime. If you want to work on your laptop, the free WIFI is good and there are charge cord plugs all along the wall. I like how spacious and bright it is inside, not to mention the high ceilings. When I get cabin fever it's nice to "escape" to a clean and friendly location like this.

We got an array of desserts to share: the pistachio cheesecake, Dubai chocolate cheesecake, Ferrero Rocher cheesecake, and a kunafe custard. I thought everything was yummy and we all had different rankings of what was good/our favorite. I think I really liked the kunafe custard but I appreciated that each of the items had a distinct flavor that felt worth trying. I would definitely come back.

Turns out yesterday just *happened* to be the satanic drag show sponsored by Malört, called Church of Malört! The bartenders were dressed up like priests, there was a guy dressed like a friar in the back grilling free hot dogs. They had tarot readings and spin the wheel. I spun the wheel and got a free shot of special edition sweet corn malört, and some merch. My friends got merch too. The drag queens had fire outfits on and they were hilarious. The catholic club made it seem like I'll never be allowed to choose the location again, but I'm pretty sure that's not the case since they all had a great time. Thank you Nighthawks for the amazing story. I will certainly be back for some more fun events.

The drinks here are unique and well made!! Especially the Witch, Please which tasted like a blueberry muffin. Our server's name I believe was Danny? City skyline has a ton of aviation-related memorabilia, including bona-fide airplane seats and a bulkhead, complete with overhead compartments. I was even temped to buckle my seatbelt for the completeness of the experience, but felt that if there was 'turbulence' this was perhaps the only case where I *wouldn't* want my seatbelt fastened. Together with the aforementioned, the vibe is comfy, and not a bad spot to spend an hour or two. The latte I ordered was good. It wasn't overly sweet, and had great flavor. A latte lover would likely get more enjoyment out of it, compared to someone like me, who like their coffee industrial strength with the bitterness to go with it. The prices are fair - not the cheapest ever, but without the gut punch of competitors. The service is great. It is polite and fast. Point also for being mindful of a person experiencing a mental health condition outside, and locking the door that they do not create a severe disruption. Final verdict: The coffee is very good, but the cozy, aviation vibe is the real selling point! Would recommend?: Yes, especially to av-geeks. Would return?: Yes, especially when I get the itch to simulate flying somewhere, only without delays, TSA, or any of the discombobulation related to airports and flying.

I asked her for some recommendations and she suggested one of the frozen drinks. I'm so glad she did because I have been craving it ever since! They have a few frozen drinks to choose from, but I went with the cold brew + hazelnut truffle. It's made with housemade hazelnut milk, cold brew, cacao, frozen bananas, housemade coconut caramel, maple syrup, vanilla, and seasalt. Trust me-- it is just as heavenly as it sounds! I forgot to get photos of it because I drank it so quickly--sorry! The space is so cute inside and it's in a fun area to wander around, right in the heart of Lincoln Square. Can't wait to come back!

Unfortunately the menu overpromises and the food underdelivers, at least that day. -Lentil soup: good flavor, but very watery, more like broth than soup. The amount of soup barely reached a third of the way up the bowl, and the price of $7 for the bowl size was candidly just not worth it. -Beet hummus sandwich: again, good flavor, but I was anticipating a sandwich (as per menu description). What was presented was a single piece of naan spread with a thin layer of beet hummus, scattered with a few toppings. For $13 my expectations were higher. The beet hummus was delicious; with the goal of recreating this at home I asked a member of the staff about the ingredients. Unfortunately rather than saying, "I'm not sure, but let me check," they responded with "I don't know. I just started and I don't know most of the menu items." There is a lot of fabulous food in Chicago. Although Oromo Cafe is fine, I recommend saving ones dining experience and money for something truly fabulous.

I'm sorry for the way I spoke and meant it when I said f*** the place, not you. You're a solid dude. I am genuinely sorry that my frustrations felt pointed towards you. The review: Amidst the surge of COVID-19 cases, it seems that the ownership of this business does not care about other small businesses in the city. It seems like they encourage folks to walk around without masks. The policy is: "walk in with a mask, take it off as soon as you rent a table. It seems like they're dissuading staff from saying anything to anyone. It seems like they're letting the APA League of Chicago run the show with reckless abandon and self-serving carelessness for the virus that is literally killing its constituents family members and friends. Good for Surge. I wish that I could completely forget societal needs for the sake of business. Bummer. Again, I'm sorry for saying, "wow, it's really crazy that you guys LITERALLY do not care if people wear masks" to the guy at the register. He seemed to care about the situation and felt helpless about it, and I didn't mean to take it out on him. I'm genuinely sorry, man, but our livelihoods are at stake here.
