I ordered something that I could clearly see they had available in the display. The employee took my money and told me they had it, but then she refused to give me what I ordered and instead tried to offer me something else. I felt like she wanted me to leave rather than serve me what I had paid for. The kitchen staff then brought me the replacement item, but it was very cold and was served with an unfriendly attitude. I was so uncomfortable and embarrassed that I ended up throwing it away. I cannot say for certain what the reason was, but I left feeling that I was treated differently because of the color of my skin. That is how the experience made me feel, and I think customers deserve to be treated with respect regardless of their race or background. I will not be returning. This was a very disappointing and hurtful experience, especially for my first visit. I understand that you were out of the item I wanted, and I would have appreciated a simple apology and explanation at the time. What upset me was not simply that you were out of the item. It was the way I felt I was treated after I had already paid, and the way the replacement item was brought to me. I left feeling embarrassed and disrespected. I shared how the experience made me feel. Instead of telling me that I should be embarrassed, I would have appreciated you acknowledging my experience and simply saying, "I'm sorry you felt this way." I am not looking for an argument. There were two vehicles in front of me, and I did have to wait about 12-15 minutes to get to order, but when I saw their menu, I could see why. Their drinks are absolutely showstopping. I mean, they had elephant ear whipped cream, come on! They had staple beverages along with seasonal beverages, and the barista was so kind and patient even though I didn't know what I wanted when I got there. I was able to make my choice and get my beverages within a few minutes. They were perfectly balanced and very delicious. Since it's a house kiosk style coffee stop, it's pretty quiet around, and the barista did make a bit of small talk. I stopped going to this stand due to the other baristas, but about 1 month ago I decided to try it again, and I found 1 of the best baristas. I will only go when she is working.
